    Another informative video man. Learned a lot. I have a GSR motor I’m still collecting parts to build up though. Been watching alot of your videos and each one I’ve learned something from . So thank you for that 👍

    Appreciate the knowledge being dropped, a lot of street boys always neglect to change their oil frequently because they treat it like a normal conventional car that doesn't race, the more you beat on the car the more often you gotta change fluids , don't wait for the oil to get dirty to change it, change it while it's still somewhat clean and that'll help prevent the motor from prematurely failing

      @SRDmotorsports  Рік тому +2

      Right on! Man exactly and I’ve opened up enough motors for rebuild that I can tell internals that have been running dirty oil more frequent even the head itself the rocker arm area is not aluminum color just brown 🤣

    @11:30 so sounds like u would keep the black box and stock pcv on the d16, but what if i wanted to install a catch can on naturally aspirated d16 so the black box part doesn't drain oil back into engine and oil mist doesn't go in my intake manifold?

    • @SRDmotorsports
      @SRDmotorsports  10 місяців тому +1

      Oil mist means other issues…
      U can remove the black box but that also eliminates the pcv system altogether
      Like on the volumetric efficiency video the pcv system does the job where the added breather for WOT breathing doesn’t do (which is the part throttle and idle breathing)

      @@SRDmotorsports will this work:
      On a NA d16z6 on the back of the block I replaced the black box with a 10an adapter, from the adapter straight up into a sealed catch can, from the can straight over into my intake manifold?
      Then, from the valve cover stock hole, to a 2nd catch can, then from 2nd catch can to cold air intake tube?
      Sorry I didn't mean oil mist I just meant vapors. And thank you for being so helpful

    • @SRDmotorsports
      @SRDmotorsports  10 місяців тому +1

      @@lurice0 that will work but it still eliminated what the pcv does so if the engine operates “only” at full throttle then yep that’s alright

    • @lurice0
      @lurice0 10 місяців тому +1

      @@SRDmotorsports so if i add a pcv valve before the catch can will i still have eliminated the pcv?

    • @SRDmotorsports
      @SRDmotorsports  10 місяців тому +2

      @@lurice0 that doesn’t pull vacuum from the manifold so it’s not a pcv per say

    Nice! What is your opinion on the oiling/ pump differences between the d series engines?

    • @SRDmotorsports
      @SRDmotorsports  Місяць тому

      well the y8 pump suits the y8 crank and the way it’s oil path is… interchanging them is when headaches come in…
      Just like the z6 pump works well on a z6 crank

    • @Mike-ry4ti
      @Mike-ry4ti Місяць тому +1

      @SRDmotorsports As the old story goes, use what you have and use it for what it was made for and you won't have any issues... some say you can't rev to 9000rpm with the D16y bottom end because of the pump, but I'm not so sure...

    • @SRDmotorsports

    if I may ask, what is the D16 equivalent of our local PH16A vtec engines?

    • @SRDmotorsports
      @SRDmotorsports  Рік тому +2

      it actually doesn’t really matter as the interchangeability isn’t there and aftermarket support is almost none
      Closest is a d16y5 or y7 with the roller rockers
      Prob is locals always wanna know this and the. Claim their engine is such when it isn’t, its a phdm engine not usdm not jdm
      It creates a whole lot of confusion to owners and all when to start with? It didn’t help at all

    Hi po ulit sir, may I ask lang on your thoughts about the d17 crank in d16 block 🙂

    • @SRDmotorsports
      @SRDmotorsports  11 місяців тому +2

      Mas Malaki na ng 1mm ang stroke ng d16 kesa sa b20 so no need
      Plus mas madami ako nakita ng palpak na d17 “stroke kuno” and none of them ever got close to a properly fast well built d16
      Honda Tuning magazine dati did this pero never nila inamin naputol crank kaka rev so “cool” ba? Haha
