It had to end. It was getting too drawn out. It would have done alot better if they werent restricted by the 70s and forced to cram 3 years into 8 seasons. It became unrealistic.
If they had the name of the British knockoff they could've, stretched the show. Hell they could've made the show longer if they say the first seasons where memories and let's Eric woke up in a different decade. Let's say the 90s in his 30s, hating life reminiscing of his teen years before reunion and restarting the show then.

Even ten years ago, that car in that condition would be worth a LOT more than $500, even if it wasn't a piece of pop culture history. The value on them can only have gone up since the show started, and this is the very specimen that was the catalyst.

'70-'72 had a squarer bumper in front with a smaller rise in the middle than the '69's tooth in the middle, which stuck up towards the tooth in the middle of the hood.
