I kind of wish there was a brand that did its best to be sustainable without the fearmongering of clean beauty. I remember someone telling me years ago that they wanted almonds covered in milk chocolate, but that they only ever found it covered in dark chocolate. That they felt like the producer assumed that choosing almonds means the consumer is a health nut, and therefore wouldn’t want milk chocolate. I feel like zero waste brands make the same kind of assumption: wanting less plastic means you want fewer “chemicals” like no preservatives, or essential oils over fragrance. I think, and this video and comment section is proof, there is a big market for science-backed skincare in sustainable/eco friendly packaging.

Thank youuu!!! Oh my gosh it's so nice to see someone else with common sense lol! My husband is 39. He became a vegetarian just after his 11th birthday. In TEXAS mind you!! After his 18th birthday he became vegan and has never looked back. I went vegetarian 12 years ago . We always bitch and moan that not wanting to harm animals, doesn't mean that we solely want to eat mud and organic kale lol! We want yummy food like everyone else. You absolutely do not have to sacrifice flavor and taste to be compassionate! You can also be a normal human being that loves a good "cheat day" like the rest of the globe🙄😂

@@eveningstar8581 you expect sustainable brands that are labeled vegan and eco friend to not be sustainable and vegan and eco friendly. Essential oils are not sustainable. And there are many brands out there that are sustainable and vegan that their products are good for you and the planet.
If I find such brands in Greece and they are US based, you can find them in US and UK and Europe.

I worked at Boots when I was 21 and never bought the no 7 products because I thought they were overrated and too expensive. Then one day a colleague around my age recommended one of the products to me. I'm telling you, 6 years on and I have the BEST skin. Glowing. Nothing I've tried over the years agrees with me like no 7. I find the 'mature' creams too thick, but the early defence range is brilliant.

I agree, my MIL gave me some No 7 a couple of years ago (cosmetics and skincare). Their mascara and concealer are now my HG, and I cannot be without a No 7 night cream. I’ll use cleansers and serums from other brands, and I dip in and out of other brand’s moisturisers for day, but nothing gives me the same plumpness and glow in the morning than using a No 7 cream the night before!

I have seen No7 around for years & never felt very compelled to try any of their products. Even after working at Ulta for years & seeing how popular the brand is, especially with middle aged+ people. A few years ago I received their retinol serum as gratis & let it sit under the sink unused for a while. When I finally decided to try it out I was *shocked*. It is awesome! I have used No7 skin care and makeup for years and i always get compliments, for perspective I'm 35 and have been moisturisering since 18 and using anti aging since 25. The only one I have tried that doesn't make me yellow or sickly looking

Not that it's totally Zero Waste, but several Korean brands I use make solid "serums" which also serve as "balms". I'm particularly fond of the vitamin C ones. My favorites are: CETANA (which is a May Coop brand) Vitamin C Brightening Moisturizer Balm Stick, Missha Vita C Plus Ampoule Balm Stick and Intense Multi Ampoule Balm VITA C. These could very easily be made into Zero Waste products by putting them into recyclable paper packages and are very easy to spread onto one's face. CETANA also makes Multi Balm Moisture Booster "Anti Wrinkle & Moisturizer Balm Stick" and Balance Balm Calming Booster "Anti Acne Balance Tea Tree Balm Stick" that are both in solid form.

A lot of people seem to quite like No7; much like Olay it does come across as a "mature" brand. But it also seems to have a lot of..i guess you could call them starter products? Like for young people (like how the very basic oil of olay in the little white container is really meant for when people start skincare in their late teens and early 20s because its not as thicc; while the products that target more mature skin tend to be on the thiccer side)
I think, as long as it doesnt have anything that'll irritate your skin, it'd be interesting to see you try them. But only if you're actually interested in doing so. But..yea. everyone ive heard who has tried them seem to quite like them :)

I agree about Pacifica, there was a BHA toner I actually really liked that was like blood orange or something and the packaging was purple lmao. But they discontinued it! I felt like it actually helped my skin. Other things I’ve tried just weren’t worth it though.
And omg, as much as I love Glow Recipe and think the brand did the packaging and formulations beautifully, I’m so upset with them that it’s hard for me to actually buy anything now because they discontinued the ONLY moisturizer I could find that hit all three of my main musts in a daily moisturizer- hydrated my dry skin for the entire day, kept acne at bay and worked beautifully under makeup. Also, my skin looks so pretty when I use it every single time, it’s like it gives me actual life haha. I searched for years before I found it and realized it was holy grail status for me. Then I went to repurchase after going through two jars and it was just gone. I’m so sad about it that, as much as I love Glow Recipe, I’m so bummed and buying from them just makes me feel upset. I can’t tell you how bad my skin has been since I had to start savoring the rest of my jar and searching for something comparable because it’s hard for me to find a decent moisturizer… let alone the perfect one like the banana was for me! Trust me, I’ve even begged them to bring it back for a trial run because it looks like I’m not the only one who’s upset about it, but they just keep telling me to try the plum moisturizer. Which yeah, it’s nice but it pills like CRAZY on me and as someone who wears a full beat every day, I don’t want my skincare to pill… especially when there’s nothing else even on my skin, it still does it. Like they actually hurt my feelings like no other brand ever has discontinuing this because it was that amazing for what my skin needed and having to start from scratch has been so bad. I have some serious grievances about the banana moisturizer 😭
