The Mask Of Zorro: When a power-crazed despot schemes to buy California from Mexico, it takes two Zorros--the legendary Don Diego de la Vega (Anthony Hopkins) and his chosen successor Alejandro Murrieta (Antonio Banderas), a dashing bandit-turned-hero-- to defeat the tyrant's unscrupulous plans. But can even their combined skills, bravado and derring-do be enough to achieve de la Vega's ultimate goal: revenge against the man who killed his wife, kidnapped his daughter and held him prisoner for twenty years?

I loved seeing Alejandro go from being a drunk, to being chaotically bad at being Zorro to being a total badass legendary Zorro. That’s how you do character development.
Exactly!
And, it's not like those changes were sudden or out of nowhere, they flowed gradually and in ways that made sense as he learned and experienced more.
He was never a drunk or an alcoholic. That was just one scene where he was mourning the death of his brother.
Actually Diego did not just teach Alejandro swordsmanship. He also taught him hygiene, etiquette, poise, he also gave hims a purpose to serve

3:51 That line is delivered SO perfectly! "Keel'im."
Pedro Altamirano had such a small role as this Squad Leader, but my GOD does he make it memorable!
I love el Hulko's grin "Oh, thanks sarge!"
@Ted Hubert Pagnanawon Crusio Ah. Thanks. Figures he'd enjoy the moment.
Zorro
This isn't just any squad leader, this is Corporal Armando García before he became the sergeant everyone knows!
Hey Hollywood, pay attention, THIS is how you make a good action movie! You don't need a ton of CGI or other nonsense, just a good story, decent acting and practical special effects.
Which is an odd thing to say as it's dependent on the kind of story, which will dictate where to use CGI and practical effects. A Superhero movie would and SHOULD have CGI. The funny thing is I could point out action movies that you THINK are using practical effects that are partly CGI. It's a tool like any other. Story, direction and acting are paramount no matter how much or little cgi is used.
This partly comedy movie which takes inspiritation from Jackie Chan is my guess cuz there's action, comedy and just funny :)
Amen!
Where do you think this movie was made? Bangladesh?
They didn't use CGI because the film didn't call for it. It came out the same year as Armageddon. Michael Bay could have used horses instead of spaceships but I don't think it would have had the same effect, pun intended.
I couldn't agree More, now they abuse on the use of cgi, that's why actual movies are a crap
That head tilt right before he lights the fuse on the Canon is hilarious
😄😄😄 I know right!?
It’s just like “Oh! I wonder what this’ll do?” 😂
@@robertwalker5794more like "well, looky what I got here boys " but close enough 😂😂
I always loved how the giant dude shook Alejandro’s arms until he dropped the swords 😂
L ALWAYS LOVED HOW THE GIANT SHOOKS ALEJANDRO ARNS UNTLI HE DROPPED THE SWORDS
Who’s the big guy?
I wonder where they found him. He is truly a giant amongst men.

One of the most hilarious fight scenes in history.....especially the black horse bunk-bed knockout.
This is such a great movie. There are a few goofy moments and the love story is a little forced, but in the end Banderas and Zeta-Jones end up with great chemistry, Anthony Hopkins and Stuart Wilson are inspired casting choices, and every actor dials in a great performance.
4:19 - 4:30 must have been such a fun scene to shot. Love this movie. If they were ever to do a remake of Zorro, it would never come close to this one. Thanks for uploading.
This is a remake of the 1940 mask of zorro
The choreography in this scene is downright hilarious! I miss this movie. Alejandro was more Jack Sparrow than Zorro here. 😄
Oh no you didn't
@@jasminnemcdonald94A 😊.
Can you imagine the 2 of them TOGETHER???
Zorro: "Tengo un frasco de tierra...."
Jack: "That's MY line, mate!"
I could imagine if Antonio Banderas played and voiced Captain Jack Sparrow.
@@jacobmaverickbueller.671 That would be something. 😁
I love this sword fight because it makes the one man against a dozen seem realistic. He moves around using space and small areas to keep from being surrounded and unlike say the last Jedi, you don’t see the guys stood around waiting their turn. I know in reality he would have died but it does it better than most.
However if anyone is planning on firing a loaded canon I would advise against standing with your foot on the wheel, it would be something of a grisly death being crushed by a tonne of canon as it recoils backwards.
The bigger safety issue is having a LOADED cannon INSIDE the barracks together with powder kegs.
Surely the soldiers are all non-smokers, right? 😆
Zorro _has_ indeed returned. The legend... not quite yet. For that, we'll have to wait a bit more
Zorro, the legend has returned 😂😂😂
Blows up the whole house🤣 💣
@@jovanlopez5284 and he runs away Jack Sparrow style.
Wait they just keep a loaded canon in the barracks? Seems like a bad idea waiting to happen.
Alejandro: I like this idea!
We are like one spirit.
@Bobby Papoutsis While true, I still think those yahoos kept that thing loaded for shitz and giggles
@Bobby Papoutsis
No, definitely not, it takes at least a minute to load a cannon and that's if you have a crew of 6.
Does? Imagine if the the barracks came under act? Wouldn't you rather have a cannon ready to fire? Then not?
@@mattrR678 The cannon is inside the barracks. Its practical usage isn't... ideal. Keeping it loaded is just asking for trouble. This is where they sleep!
I always laugh at that scene where they’re just shuffling around with blades locked together in 3:18
4:20 Captain Jack Sparrow moment before POTC.
The way Alejandro is fighting and getting out of tricky Situations rembers me to Captain Jack sparrow 🤔
I could imagine that Disney collected some suggestions from Zorro 🤫🤭
Maybe it’s the nostalgia goggles blinding me to this film’s issues but when it came out it was the perfect film for it’s time, showing us that Hollywood could still Produce an entertaining summer Blockbuster. Never forget the dark age of cinema!
This film still holds up for being a lot of things mainly a good picture
There's another film as well!!!
4:26 😂😂😂😂
I swear the could have scripted this from a Bugs Bunny cartoon. That last part where they watch the big guy fall down, then turn around . . . Alejandro with a canon. "Surprise, Doc!"
The fire following the gunpowder trail back to barrel Alejandro is holding is right out of Yosemite Sam.
Good one!
Never thought of it that way, lol. 😂
@3:53 "Keel Heem"
He Sounded So Cute 😊
Definitley didn't look cute.
My grandpa and I always love this movie and this scene with the cannon always made me laugh so much
0:58 my favorite scene when the beds fall down 😂😂😂😂
When he says Santa Maria always make me laugh
4:15 perdone compadres, pfpfpfpfpfpf🥴😂
What makes the horse bucking even better is that it makes sense. In the scene before this, we see that it's a pretty wild horse, so it would probably behave that way
Esta escena está genial 😁 muy divertida , hay golpes a diestro y siniestro 🤣 hasta el caballito tiene su momento 🤣
3:04 - I never noticed... one of the swords broke there!
Man I haven’t watched that scene in ages, had me LOLing not gonna lie!
4:06,4:17 when Zorro grabs the cannon balls he hits the big guy's face and he spits out the tooth
Hope he got dental insurance especially in the US

This is pretty accurate to what happens when the Rogue runs off on his own and D&D and gets a hellish streak of natural 1s and 20s
Guess he wasn't taught the most important lesson.
Well he destroyed a garrison, that’s no small feat, and will certainly set things back locally, and annoy regionally.
Let alone how the garrison had to report how they were defeated. They couldn't admit it was one ordinary guy who got lucky a bunch of times, they had to build up Zorro to be a legendary fighter to justify outnumbering him 20:1 and still losing.
@@toddkes5890 yeah, just say a team of bandits broke in and blew up the place, fleeing in the chaos of the explosion. We couldn’t tell how many, definitely a bunch though.

This movie has some serious Bud Spencer/ Terence Hill vibes.
should’ve kept the Van Dyke ‘stache throughout the whole movie. a hairless Zorro was weird
1:39 is the Mexican Christian Slater
If Disney made this there’d be zero character arc and zorro would be a 110 pound woman physically beating up grown men twice her size
Zorro is talented the way he do his things marvelous full of packed action
Haha what I love is that it was Zorro who attacked these soldiers in their quarters, they didn't do anything wrong, in fact some of these poor slobs were just trying to sleep when Zorro brought their bunks down for no reason and the destroyed the entire building haha.
