    Cassiy, I started watching your video several months ago. I had an Etsy store selling items laying around the house and then I started painting items to sell I did not make any money but I did like the way Etsy paid so quickly. My wife and I are 73 years old and we live on SS. We both had part-time jobs at our local church until covid came and we both lost our extra income. I love designing. I love your story of how you struggled in life and have now done so well. I just opened my new store and am struggling with getting my tags to show up. I am watching this video hoping to learn more. My wife has Lupus and several auto-immune diseases costing us a lot of money each month. She has afib plus diabetes also. I just today put up my fourth POD item. I know I am in the minority on Etsy but I really need to learn from you and your success. This is my wife and my only way to find a new way of making money. Thanks and keep up the great work.

    Cassie you actually don't need to use the "splice" effect anymore - Canva has added one called "Outline" that does exactly what you need it to! So much easier than using splice or hollow! :)

    Hi Cassiy. Always great information. One suggestion to help new viewers. Remind us when you’re back in a certain program as you go along. Many times you switch from canva to Creative Fabrica to Etsy, etc. As I am learning, I have to go back and listen again to make sure I was following you. Thanks again!

    Cassiy, I think you do an amazing job with these tutorials. I have always avoided Canva, and thanks to your step by step directions, I just love playing around with all the options. I am totally new to this business and everything is a learning experience. I am having problems with my designs that include different elements, showing a big white block when I try to pasting it to a colored shirt on Printify. My white shirts look great, but I want to diversify my collection. I would greatly appreciate any hints I can get from you or if you could create a video detailing the process. (Nancy)

    Question about Creative Fabrica. As long as it is a POD design, can we edit it like you did in the video to make our own? I didn’t know that was a possibility. Also, designing in Canva can you use the free fonts and use for POD? How do you make sure the quality of the image is good to send to POD? I have never designed there (I use Photoshop) but I want to try using Canva to design t-shirts. Thank you!

  • @JustRose25
    @JustRose25 9 місяців тому

    Thank you so much for your video. I try to watch one every day so I can gather as much information as I can. I do have a couple of questions, though. Will my image print clean and clear as long as I follow the dimensions suggested in Printify for the specific item I am choosing to design? My second question. Can these design be uploaded to make gang sheets vs using Printify if I chose that route vs a printing a service.?
    The reason for my first question is because I came across a video before yours that talked about designing in Canva and then uploading that image to another program to get it at the resolution needed for Printify. I really wish I could remember the person who created the video and the site he mentioned. I’ve never heard you mention a third program for designing so that’s why I ask.
    Thank you again for your videos. I look forward to hearing from you.

    Hi Cassie- I am curious about mock ups, theres so much information out here that I dont really know what etsy wants and what people like. Should it be original with my own models or is buying the most popular used ones still working? Some folks say they are “tired” of seeing the same ones. No face vs Full body, flat fold or hanger with props. I have bough a few of each but unsure. Oh and currently I am a super beginner with less than 20 sales since October ‘23. Im ready to get serious!

    Hi Cassiy! You mentioned in one of your videos that you got a copyright strike beacuse one of these ready to use POD graphics you used was a stolen one. • @CassiyJohnson
      @CassiyJohnson  11 місяців тому

      There is no great way to make sure but if you look at the seller on CF store, something you can get a feel for if it really seems like they created everything or if they are just stealing things. This is why I just use elements in my designs, to try to at least stay away from it somewhat!

    Thanks for the video 👍 I've seen other UA-camrs saying you shouldn't have very long titles as the Etsy search algo "chops up" a shorter title and matches on that - what's your opinion?
    (I might actually duplicate a short title listing tonight and give it a longer title for comparison)

    • @CassiyJohnson
      @CassiyJohnson  10 місяців тому +2

      I'm definitely not here to tell you what's right or wrong, everyone has their own opinions but I base all of my decisions off of what the top sellers on Etsy are having success with. Go look at 100 best selling items on Etsy and you be the judge of what Etsy actually likes and promotes on their platform!

  • @Om-gg5tk
    @Om-gg5tk 10 місяців тому +1

    Hi Cassiy.. some Etsy sellers also sell SVGs with commercial license. Do you suggest using those or are those only for limited commercial use license and not the full commercial license like how creative fabrica offers? I have seen some artwork on creating fabrica that is clearly stolen so bit wary of using CF elements in my designs.

    • @CassiyJohnson
      @CassiyJohnson  10 місяців тому +1

      There is always a risk that pngs and svgs sold on CF or Etsy have been stolen, so I just try to look at the whole shop to see if it really seems like the same people are making all of them. Also if they have lots of sales and have been open for longer than a year, then that is a good sign as well. Each seller makes up their own rules for licensing, so if you are ever in doubt, then just message the seller for clarification! These are totally fine to buy but I wouldn't make it your whole strategy since other people buy them as well.

    What if you have images or designs that when shared (as concepts not sales products) in the targeted hobby groups get positive responses/like/love comments but there doesn’t seem to be anything very closely similar for sale for you to research. Do you drop it completely and only attempt the type of styles that are repeated everywhere or see if there is possibly a market for new ideas in addition to the current trends?

      You need to add value! Try to find ways to cross niche, turn things into matching shirts etc. If you just copy everyone else exactly you won't have the best time. But don't overthink it, no matter what you do, 80% of your designs will likely never sell. So just keep trying new things until you find something that works, then duplicate that and keep going!

    Hi Cassiy, I'm in the UK and want to start my 1st POD business in Etsy.
    Would I use Printify with worldwide shipping options? Would I need 2 stores for both UK and US?
    If just one store would I price in dollars or pounds?

    • @CassiyJohnson
      @CassiyJohnson  10 місяців тому

      Pricing wise, Etsy automatically translates the currency for you depending on where you live, so no need to worry about that. It would be complicated to do two stores so honestly I'd recommend starting with selling only in the US at first. This is where the largest amount of Etsy shoppers are. It will make it a lot less overwhelming, you won't have to offer returns if you don't want to and then you only have one place to check trademarks instead of for both countries.

    • @CassiyJohnson
      @CassiyJohnson  10 місяців тому +1

      I think it's ok to have them all in one store but it's going to be hard for you to focus on all of these product types and really get good at selling them all at once. Most of the game on Etsy is finding the search traffic on Etsy FIRST and then creating designs and products that will serve the people that are already buying those types of things on Etsy. I recommend really taking the time to research what is already selling really well on Etsy and why. Then implement those changes in your own store! Once you really master one product type, then I think it makes sense to move on to adding additional ones.

    Hey Cassiy! Id love to know how you handle out of stock issues through printify. Seems that they do not sync their stock to your store so it looks like we have to go in and manually resync our listings. That poses a problem seeing we are running A/B testing listings, and the only one that will update is the main listing. Any ideas on how to handle easily? Seems that we have to go in and resync on printify for listing A and then for listing B manually enter it. Seems like a lot of work if you have over 300 listings or for big businesses over 1000 listings how do they handle that? Thoughts?

    • @CassiyJohnson
      @CassiyJohnson  11 місяців тому

      I typically only sell items that multiple print providers make, like shirts. So as items are out of stock, Printify will notify you and allow you to replace the item with another provider right inside of the order on Printify. I just do this manually for each order out of stock as usually there aren’t long delays in getting stock back

    I have a question about keywords. I saw some advice saying that you shouldn't repeat words in your keywords as it is wasting the potential amount of different words that you can use. Does this have any value or is it better to try and match possible searches even if it means repeating words several times. For example in you video you were suggesting First Grade Teacher, Teacher shirt etc so you are repeating teacher many times.

    • @CassiyJohnson
      @CassiyJohnson  10 місяців тому

      I have found my personal success in just studying what the bestsellers in my niche are doing and then following suit, I don't know if there is a 100% right or wrong way to do it! Most of my sales seem to end up coming from just one or two exact keyword matches on my listings most of the times. My best advice, is to just not overthink it. Try to be efficient with your titles to fit more in if there really are more keywords that would be beneficial. But with a niche like First Grade Teacher, it's so specific that there really are only so many things that someone would type in and see my listing, and it would be exactly what they are looking for.
      If you are designing in more general or generic niches like "funny shirts" for example, then I think the strategy you are talking about makes perfect sense to really maximize the audience that sees it. But with lets take first grade teacher for example again, if you start using tons of other keywords that aren't 100% relevant, then lots of people will see it and not click it in those searches because it's not as relevant. Then Etsy stops showing your listing as much because people don't seem to like it. At least that's always been my thoughts on it!

    • @CassiyJohnson
      @CassiyJohnson  10 місяців тому

      Both are super good options! I don't think you can go wrong with either one but digital downloads is a large spectrum of things you can sell. I would figure out what your income goals are per month, then go find 10 recently opened Etsy shirt stores that are killing it and 10 recently opened Etsy digital download stores that are doing really well and see how many of them are are meeting your income goals if you were them!
      I try to make all of the decisions for my business based off of the research and really recommend doing that for yourself as well

    With Canva graphics you have to make it your own by changing things. But if you get your design from CF, can you use it as is for POD?

    • @CassiyJohnson
      @CassiyJohnson  10 місяців тому

      With Canva you need to add things to any of the pro graphics to be able to use them. So other graphics and fonts is perfect. For the ones on CF, it just depends on the license that they have. Full POD license, you can use as is but the commercial graphics you need to add other stuff too just like Canva. A
      lways keep in mind on CF that sometimes people steal designs and sell them there. So I try to look at their store to make sure it looks like everything is made by the same person first.

    • @CassiyJohnson
      @CassiyJohnson  10 місяців тому

      Hard to say exactly what it is, when you're new you don't have any sales or reviews, so your conversion rate will be lower anyways. But even after your store is more established, a great conversion rate to expect is still like 4% or 5%. I also think that only 42 designs is a really small sample size. I know my first 42 designs weren't anywhere close to my best stuff I've made. It's likely you are doing lots of super small stuff not as good that you don't even realize. I'd try to just keep doing research on what's currently working for other sellers and really try to implement some of those same strategies in your listings as you go. So just keep researching and listing until you do start getting those sales, then you will have a better idea of the kinds of things that sell.
