- A little bit late on this.. here's my take on #allineedchallenge by @jacobcollier I had a lot of fun recording this, not really my cup of tea but this take was ok I guess, enjoy!

Both absolutely brilliant. But Matteo is more unapologetically about the music, whereas Jacob will compromise the music to be 'fun' and crowd-pleasing.

@@nate_4594 bro, every comment on the channel is like ''he is like the best guitar player of this generation, so talented that he can nail anyone', he's the pinnacle of the instrument', yoo, stop this, just stop. This shit will elude him or hurt him, because he knows the skill and he knows how hard is to have the great imagination of the greats, i think he's just beginning in the world of composition. He have a incredible soft way of playing the instrument, and an amazing taste in music. But we don't know where he'll go, and i don't think he need to demonstrate it to us, he's not obligated to do it. And saying things like that will pressure him. This is so blind, it's ridiculous. Listening to Holdsworth, Pat Metheny, people of ECM records like Ralph Towner, John Abercrombie, Terje, or other great guitarists make that assumption strange, they made a vast opus. Even in the today, the new gen of guitarists is freaking AMAZING. It's very disproportionate to put him against someone that made Handmade Cities, or New Level New Devils, Ladder Head... This type of acting is a DUMB thing to do.
@@MTheoOA I kinda get what you’re saying. It’s good to compliment someone. But saying “he’s the best I’ve ever heard/he’s up there will Holdsworth/etc”, can put pressure on him. Rather than enjoying music and contributing his unique style to the world, he might feel pressure to be someone he’s not. Every great player has their own creative approach to the instrument, and I don’t think there is a “best player”. He is amazing tho. I do really admire this guys right hand technique, and vocabulary. So I’m exited to see what how his composition evolves in the future as well.

Matteo is in the zone. He’s basically hit the pinnacle of the art of guitar. To be praised by the likes of epic guitarists, such as Al Di Meola and Steve Via, says a lot about this guitar whiz.

The most fun part about him is how effortless he plays. He’s not even working hard. This is not about scales… This transcends… I don’t even have words for it. I would love to see him play something super melodic and less runs… Just to see what he could do with that. I want to see him break a sweat. LOL.
I'd love to know how he had the discipline and who helped him to stay focused to practice for the many many hours he had to practice to accomplish what he has so beautifully done. There is no one else that even comes close to what he is doing,not holdsworth,gambale, tom quale,erik johnson,anybody that's making records in the new instrumental world.
@@bradcatron1752 Hey Brad... I only agree with part of what you've said. You could practice for the rest of your life and not be able to obtain his level of excellence. He is a born protégée ...you are born with that kind off skill, it doesn't just come from practice. It's simply the true meaning of the word genius. Matteo has a gift and I don't even think he knows it. It's so natural and effortless for him. I saw one of his tutorials once...it was hysterical. He said I'll show you something simple... but what is simple too him is brain surgery to most people. Maybe the trick is not to strive to be him, but to strive to be yourself.

@@Grading_GOA It seems that you wanted to answer to someone else comment but it was an interesting view and as I disagree a bit, I answer to yours if you don't mind. :)
I agree with you on the fact that it's not revolutionnary (but well, I wouldn't give this label to more than 2 or 3 guitarists). But being quite familiar with flamenco (lived in Madrid and appreciated a lot of live flamenco concerts) and classic music (I started the guitar this way), except the fact that he's playing with his fingers, his technic appears to me quite different than great flamenco guitarists, at the sound, tone, fluidity level. I might be wrong but I feel that he would hardly sound like them playing their tunes... and quite sure too that they would be unable to play the way Matteo plays neither.
I can't find any player having a technic similar to Matteo in the "fusion/jazz/rock" world, particularly not with this level of perfection (and from my point of view, serving music as I said previously more than being just a circus trick - which might be nice to see on stage once or twice but afterwards, well...).
Sylvain Luc plays wonderfully with fingers (and sometimes chooses pick) but doesn't have the same intonation (slight digression : I love his play too so much, particularly in the Duet album with Bireli Lagrene) neither the same technic (doesn't use tapping with the same proficiency - but doesn't need to - like to play rythmical stuff with the right hand, use a lot the legato technic, etc.).
Looking at the phrases, fluidity and intonation, Matteo reminds me more Allan Holdsworth (who was playing pick).
But to me, he's quite unique in this mix of fingers technic, fluidity, articulation and his first piece (if I well understood, on the classical guitar, released a few days ago) as composer gave me a huge desire to find out his next tunes (and I always listen to him with great pleasure on his covers).
