dan i don't think gi meant she personally knew, i think she meant there are so many people in the world that could just use someone too talk with that just might make a difference , and she would like to be the person to put out the life line to someone in need.

      Norma here,
In defense of your mom, I think she probably meant that we hear of so many suicides on the news and through social media. Celebrities who have committed suicide and people that you wouldn’t think would ever do such a thing. She’s so sweet being willing to offer her time just to listen and talk to someone who might need to talk.
Poor Levi didn’t like that question very much. He’s so honest though. He said no job cause he’s lazy. No further discussion needed.
Lou, you keep such a clean and organized home plus work a full time job. We all know that cleaning your fish tank is on your to do list.
I’m not a fan of tater tots, but that “hot dish” looks like a quick, easy meal.
Which state is the largest producer of honey would be a great jeopardy question. All your viewers would know the correct answer. lol

I think they are trying to encourage Levi to set goals. He just needs to explore what he likes to do. I really wish we could see what he writes or draws all the time. That is probably his biggest talent and he just doesn't know what to do with it.

I took what she said as “you know how many people commit suicide” in general, and maybe they just needed someone to talk to. Not as a counselor or a therapist just to talk to, without a goal or expectation.

I love the Cooking with Dan and Lou videos. I look forward to them every week. I couldn't stop watching Levi and Steph in the background! They are so sweet!! You can see in every video how much Levi loves Steph!! Stephanie is the purest, sweetest person ever!! I have two kids that have Autism. They have immediate instincts of who truly cares for them. ❤️❤️❤️🙏🏼 If i could have any company, I would create a company teaching people how to give the very best customer service. Thats the one thing im truly good at. I go above and beyond to make people happy.

I think Gigi meant she wanted to help young people , because there is so many today who see that as an alternative to dealing with their pain these days. I took four years of psychology , and that was going to be my goal, to counsel mostly abused children. But young people in general. I have a seventeen year old grandchild who is terrified to become an adult because right now things are so crazy in the world. I think the young people are scared, confused about so many things these days. Our morals have become almost just gone. It’s like we are becoming barbaric human beings, with no love or compassion for one another any more. And the drug issue , the transgender issue, so many things have our young people confused and hurting. And I think it is all bye an evil agenda in our government. We need to save our young people. We need to teach them values, hard work, and compassion for others and respect for Gods earth is what can help them get thru these hard times. I am not a fix everything with a pill kind of counselor, that’s why I don’t have a job. I am a fix it with Jesus kind of counselor. Love you all, and I applaud Gigi’s love for the young people, and wanting to save our youth.

Dan, my son took his own life in Oct of 2020. We had no clue why and he did not leave a note. He was 51. We have had two or three other family members do the same. So just because you don’t know of anyone, doesn’t mean there aren’t people right under your nose and under the same mindset. I can think of two in your family right now that this could happen to. You need to pay attention. We did not and have been devastated by it. God be with you and yours.💔

Tater tot hotdish is made here in Minnesota quite often, the only difference between our recipes is that I use frozen mixed vegetables like the peas, carrots, green beans, and corn my first recipe called for a large can of Veg-all I don’t know if ya’ll have it there in Texas I’ve never seen it while I was there.
And yes, the recipe calls for putting them in rows in the same direction, I did do that for the first 20 times after that, I just started laying them in one layer. It took too long to put them in rows. I enjoyed your video today. Cooking with Dan and Lou. Keep up the good work.👍🏼

Lou, I don’t know if I’m remembering this right, but I think you don’t like onions. If you are making a recipe that calls for onions, you can buy frozen already cut onions. Or if a recipe calls for a half of onion, have “Olde Dan” cut up all of one, put the rest in a ziplock bad and freeze it. I’m not a fan of canned vegetables unless it’s tomatoes. I buy frozen vegetable and find they taste better, less salt and the flavour tastes fresher. Cooking the casserole for one hour, you can add the vegetables frozen. If you don’t know, honey from your local area is good for people with allergies. I think it helps your immune system. I grew up north of North Dakota (Saskatchewan, Canada). It’s mostly dry weather, can get extremely hot, almost as hot as Texas and extremely cold. Temperatures can range from 40°C to -40°C, 104°F to -40°F. Dan, you could go work at country clubs and mow grass all day. Perfection is the name of the game with them.

Gigi has a huge heart and a true compassion for others.

As a child I almost died from having the flu virus, throwing up and diarrhea. Could not keep anything down. Dad finally went out in the garden and dug some Juresalem Artichokes, and I would chew on them and could keep them on my stomach because of the starch content and finally got better.

I had my dream business for a year. I always wanted to open a sub shop, my son and I did it and it was called Honey's Hoagies. He decided to go away for college so we had to close. I worked in a kitchen in a factory and I used to make a hash brown casserole with bacon, sausage, egg and a cheese sauce, everyone loved it. ❤🍯

I am from Minot North Dakota and its a beautiful state. Lived here all my life. I make tatertot hotdish at least once a month. I make it exactly how you made your dish. Our bees get shipped out to California. Others use other states. Sugar Beats is very big here but processing it stinks to me. The smell is bad.

After you finish cooking thru the 50 states. You could ask your subscribers to send in their favorite family recipes. Then you can choose things you might like to try

Dan, you were not going to make your wifey happy today. She was on a roll with the slinging food. Lol.
I completely agree with your statement of placing all the tots in a row is OCD. I make Tator Tot casserole and have never lined up my tots.
    Have a great weekend

I always put my tater tots in rows or if I am using a round dish, in a circle around the dish. Always! It looks so pretty and tastes so good.

I’ve wanted a fresh baked cookie delivery biz since childhood. Trouble is I refuse to drive.🤷‍♀️ Yall inspired me to start tasting America with my family too now.Alabama white bbq on smoked chicken was a hit here but Alaska was a flat out bust… lol… I’m the only fish eater really. I did make Lyssa’s dip using smoked salmon and enjoyed it.

Your hot dish looks delicious. Looks like my daughter's tutor tot casserole. She puts every tutor tot in perfect rows and face the same way, 😅. I would like to open a bakery with all kind of baked goodies. I use to bake for family and friends and my friends you'd me to open a bakery shop. Great dinner and great company with family. ❤

Just made tator tot hotdish for my hubby last night. It's a very common dish in MN. My dream business has always been to have an exotic fruit farm. Seeing what I could get to grow in the states that isn't common. Not a business that ever could have worked in MN with our very long & cold winters.

Lived on the Iron Range for 5 yrs and it sure does get cold. I enjoyed patitsa and pasties though while living there. My son lived in Woodbury for 10yrs and I loved that city. I live in LaCrosse, WI, close enough to the “Cities” to still go shopping.

Jerusalem artichokes are yummy! They look like a really knobbly sweet potato but taste like a really nutty flavoured potato! I grew them by accident one year when I got the wrong seed potatoes by accident lol, we got very inventive as the produced a huge crop! Just under a tonne! With only five in the house it was a lot lmao,. My favourite was the soup with crumbled bacon or the baked chips yummy!

Your welcome! Glad you liked it and it's a hotdish in these parts. And yes Dan you need to put your tator tots all in a row so you get one in every bite. It looked good. I've never put cheese on the top just more under the tots. 😊
