How to Drive a Tractor in Virtual 360º Action!

- Learn how to drive a tractor with me during the 2018 rice planting season. Enjoy this tractor ride on the rice farm while we pull behind us a plow chisel. This is the first operation of the crop year! We use the pull chisel to rip the dirt thus exposing it to the air, allowing it to dry out. Let's turn this ground into a rice field and I think after this video you'll be ready to be a real rice farmer!
This tractor video features a 260 Case Magnum Tractor and a John Deere pull chisel. This 360 video gives you the ability to ride along when tractors are working on the farm!

The 360* cab video is great! Please do show us all phases of your field prep and planting from in the cab. It would be fantastic if you can get video from on board the crop duster!
very cool, will a plane be dropping the rice? Can we go with them too?Just think how long it took for those early rice farmers to get the fields ready, back breaking work I would suppose.
An excellent video mat. I enjoyed it the 360 degree worked out very well. I liked the way I was able to move around and see everything inside and outside the cab of the tractor. Wow only 3 day behind, Been working on the website did some changes, stopped putting up a lot of stuff, going with only agriculture things, Siskiyou County stuff, and Bicycle racing. have links to news and commentary things, but not adding to other platforms, which is about 4 places plus the blog, will be adding my own videos to the site soon, changed the blog name so as to make to change, just have to get a video cam. still looking for one. Welp, I cant farm this dag gone year again, do to job loss, but I going to try my hardest to start rice farming 2019, this depresses me ......but, I did some 22 acres of melons so will see the net profits..!!

Worked great on my laptop with a touch screen on chrome. Reminds me of doing this years ago but the first time was on a Cat D6 out in the open no cab.

Hi, what a great idea! It worked fine on my laptop with touch screen using Firefox. I always wanted to know what was going behind the tractor at various points in the field and what the driver was doing. Are you doing plowing manually? I thought most tractors in the USA worked the fields automatically. Thank you.

Very cool video. I loved going along for the ride. I learned way more about driving a tractor than I ever thought I would. LOL Took me a few minutes to figure out exactly how to make the 360 degree to work. I just have a laptop hooked up to my TV so I can get a bigger picture. Worked out great once I figured it out. My little mouse did a great job looking all around the tractor and the fields. Looking forward to the next one!
Another great video. Now according to one of the older videos is this a sun up to sun down job, to prep for planting, or are you just finishing up the acreage that you plan to plant this year? The good news is that it is not in the high 90's yet. And you have two of these tractors or three?
Hi Frank, yes this is practically a sun up to sun down job. Especially when we still have tractor work on the later fields and already have baby rice on the earlier fields. It's quite a bit to juggle. You're right the weather hasn't been too hot but we have been getting some crazy north wind (35-40 mph). We have 6 of these type of tractors. Some are much older though.

Safari has upgraded to now support the 360. Last one you made on the harvest I had to use Crome. Deja vu Ive spent the last 2 weeks on a tractor mowing wine vineyards just up the hill from you. Being in a cab must be nice you probably make it home with a lot less dirt on you.

Great video Matt ! Offers a great perspective that only farmers normally get to see ! Sure is great to be ( even viewing ) in a cab ! I spent too many years on open station tractors doing this sort of work ! Have a good work week !! I'd be particularly interested in how you're going to level/slope the field after all the tillage !
Hey Matt you have the same air freshener hanging from your rear view mirror as me! lol They have been discontinued but I saw a bunch in the clearance section at Dollar General and snapped them up.

Do you also use the stops on the rice header?
Steven, that's an excellent question. The header on a combine moves up and down by two hydraulic rams but we don't use stops. We just eye-ball the height at which we want to cut. It's easy to see.
