That by far, is the ultimate machine to use. I've used alot of slit seeders through my 30 years in the green industry, and none compare to the Lawn Solutions (now Toro/Exmark) seeder. It dominates in result, ease of performance, and durabilty/maintenance.

How do you compare the effectiveness of a power rake with a seeder accessory compared to a specialized slice/slit seeder like the one in this video? Maybe it goes without saying but regular watering after this process seems essential to its success.

should you clean up the thatch after or leave on top of seed and if i can leave the thatch can you have to much thatch that it would not work?

need to reseed my lawn, and thought about using a slice seeder. Problem is I have has preemergent sprayed that is supposed to last the whole summer. Is there anyway to get the new seeds to germinate? Will the slice seeder break up the barrier?

Would you use a dethatching machine before you use the slit seeder?

This machine will dethatch as it is seeding.

it depends on what you are seeding. cool season grasses as stated above, Bermuda and zoysia at the start of warm weather when the grass comes out of dormancy.

I want to kill my lawn and plant all bermuda. Will it work with the slice seeder or am i going to have to pull up the whole turf?

use a non selective herbicide, kill off what you have now. Add topsoil or sand to fill in the low areas. Once your all done with that, this machine will groove in the seed nicely. No need to pull up what you have. I just rented one (toro version) I removed all my sod via sod cutter, only because i dont have time to wait for the non selective herbicide to work. (plus i brought in 10 yards or compost to topdress my soil with)

Kill the lawn off. Than scalp lawn down with a mower remove debris and than use the slice seeder two different directions. Water daily.

Damn just heard what happened to that girl and didn’t know what one of these tools looked like. This is brutal. RIP.

They never show end results after reseeding lol. I know more work but I remove old grass first.Small tractor 4 inches of new soil place. Most just go with sod.

I don't see how that can work. First it drops the seed, then the blades smashes the seed in its path to smithereens so it could not possibly germinate, while the rest of the seed that misses the blade path lays on the top of the ground, same as if you had used a $25 broadcast spreader. I would think for such a machine to be effective, you would need to cut the trenches first, and then have scarf-cut tubes drop the seeds into the newly cut furrows. What am I missing?

We have been slice seeding lawns for many years. This is a proven method. Slice away, an watch it fill in.

When you plant seed by hand you always have seed that is exposed. What's your point?

    • @SiliconFlower
      @SiliconFlower 6 років тому +1

Nunya Biznis , yu right. When a plant seed falls from a plant in a jungle, do yu think it needs someone to go there, dig a hole, put seed in the hole, cover the hole with dirt to make it grow? Hehe

@Jack T, good point. The seeds would be undamaged if they dropped after the slicer cut the soil, not before it. The amount of seed that was being dropped was key, in my opinion. The rate was very high. It looked like the seed was literally flowing out of the machine. At that rate, odds are that many seeds will survive the damage.

Wait, so let me see if I got this right. This machine deposits grass seed on the lawn FIRST and THEN cuts trenches into the earth for the seeds to go into
    Wtf?!!?
