I just saw you guys flying the other day. I am a truck driver and I was passing Salt Lake heading to Montana. There were a few of you in the air and a few on the hill. You were off to my right. This is going to be fun to watch from your views. Thanks for posting

Flying on a beautiful day and having a great time is wonderful, but having a couch on the top of the hill to watch all the action -- priceless.
I live in the valley and drive by Point of the Mountain sometimes and see those guys up there. Pretty crazy. Looks like a blast. Glad you got to take a crack at it, Bobby! Looking forward to the next adventure, whatever that is.

Just saw this....glad you got a taste of this. Started flying hang gliders back in 1977, when we were all test pilots back then. Still flying...now, powered as well...but, there is nothing like flying like a bird. Flown to 18.200' in the Owens Valley...and, my longest flight was 175 miles.... glad you did this. It's amazing fun.

Bobby, you may have a captured a real hero in your video. The guy that was paragliding in the wheelchair was possibly my nephew Joe Stone as he frequents that area. Joe experienced a horrible speed flying crash in 2010 rendering him an incomplete quadriplegic. Since this accident he has become a huge motivational mentor, speaking around the country to others who have become disabled. A film documentary (called "It's raining, so what") has been produced telling his story and he also was the first ever to complete in the IRONMAN in a wheelchair. He is an AMAZING guy. Thanks Bobby, that was great fun to watch! Hey, the next step for you is to try paramotoring. It's the same thing as paragliding basically, except you have a small motor on the instructor's back in tandem configuration. With the motor, you can go anywhere with or without thermals. :)

I've had the chance to do a tandem at Point of the Mountain. From the looks of it, the north side is so much better. We easily climbed over 3000' and were in the air for well over an hour. Awesome experience.

Looks like a ton of fun. Great video. I used to live in that area back when the sky was full of nothing but hang gliders. I love to fly and will definitely have to try paragliding at some point... actually both come to think about it!

Bobby, I can't tell you how cool Paragliding seems. The nice part is you don't need a lot of equipment to enjoy the sport and it is not super expensive as a hobby. I have always wanted to do parachute jumping but after your video, Paragliding is definitely the way to go for me!
Living in San Francisco we have Fort Funston with constant wind the flyers run off a cliff above the beach, I talked to a longtime pilot he said one never really gets over that first step off the cliff.
Lovin' this channel almost as much as the sailing channel, Bobby! Love to see you in a de Havilland! Preferably a Beaver, but an Otter would be cool too!
So cool. There have been some deaths in Utah over the last few years Paragliding. The most recent was UA-camr Grant Thompson, The King of Random.
i had the chance to do a tandem at Jackson Hole one summer while visiting a friend , i declined even though the pilot was expert , i just couldn't get past my 250 lbs attached to 180 lb pilot , maybe one day , i'm 200 lb empty nester now , thanks bobby for sharing another great angle on adventure, happy thermals all :)

Bobby, You have to try tandem hang gliding at the Wallaby Ranch just outside Orlando in Davenport FL. It's the bomb! The Owner Malcolm Jones has been flying daily for years.
That was awesome! I've considered doing this too, and may have to give it a try here. Next you need to take a flight in a high performance tandem sailplane! No medical is needed for your PGL license either.

I love this sport. Motorized paragliding is also very compelling. Check out Tucker Gott on youtube for those vids- same type of wind + a motor on your back!

Or as Bobby's grandfather used to say (after falling off a roof and having a severe injury) "The flight was not bad, but the landing is what tore me up"

Bobby, Ben failed to inform you that you're flying over a famous motorcycle hill climb called "Widow Maker". Probably best he didn't say anything. :-)
That's actually over on the north side of the mountain and we were flying at the South Side. Had the wind been blowing the opposite direction, we would have flown right over it!

I follow Tucker Gott here on youtube. Paramotoring is the next level. He has some amazing adventures flying his wing. Very much worth a look if you are interested in this kind of flying.

Conditions look to be too light for hang gliders.
