The lyrics of this song proves that Sabbath weren't from the dark side, which the press seemed to run with back in their day. Solid nasty riffs, and Ozzy's clean tone shining through all the madness.
It says in the Bible that Satan uses half-truth and half lies. He'll (hell) pull you in with the truth and then tell you all lies. And back in the late 60s that was exactly how Heavy Metal had to be presented in order to be accepted by the masses because people weren't used to that heavy sound back then so Black Sabbath had to use the lyrics as the truth part and the music was the lie that influenced other kids to get into the business of sex, drugs, rock and roll and debauchery and look what we have now? All kinds of satanic heavy death metal. And later on down the road Black Sabbath even went in the wrong direction with their compilation album called "We sold our souls for rock and roll". I wouldn't say that Black Sabbath was deceptive on purpose at least not in the beginning I would just say that it just worked out that way but Terry geezer Butler the bass player for Sabbath who wrote most of the lyrics did say in an interview once that he had a dark figure standing at the foot of his bed giving him messages right around the time they were to put out the first Black Sabbath album.😈🔥 2 Corinthians 11:14 KJV "And no wonder, for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light"
I’ve been listening again and again, and it just hit me why the first 30 seconds (the Sunny riff) “the happy sound” Che calls it are so damn familiar…listen to the theme song for “Friends” TV show…mind blown. Totally ripped the riff, and it’s not even close.
THE HUGE HITS OFF OF THIS ALBUM ( MASTER OF REALITY ) LAH AND CHE WERE : CHILDREN OF THE GRAVE & SWEET LEAF 😊 NEVERRRRRRR GETS TIRED FOR 50 YEARS NOW FOR ME, I NEED MY DAILY DOSE OF ORIGINAL SABBATH EVERYYYYYDAY! 😊 MY FAVORITE ALBUM ( SABBATH BLOODY SABBATH ) TITLE TRACK IS AWESOME BUT ALSO : A NATIONAL ACROBAT
I agree, he’s always been known for his crazy acts and that’s why people tend to underrate him very much in my opinion. For me he’s as important to black sabbath as tony ( if not more important)
@@klasseact6663 no problem, love these guys, appreciate younger people realizing how great that era of music was....MORE BLACK SABBATH AND MORE HENDRIX for me!....
@@robertlavorna2968 Hendrix is my all time favorite, would love these guys to review the original Band of Gypsys album...they'd be hooked like NO OTHER!
Sabbath is like bags of potato chips, its impossiblle for me to have a favorite, they are all good, but your right, this one shines brightly above most of the rest. Heavan and Hell from the Dio years is probably in 2nd place for me, I agree with this being the first (if I was forced to rank them)
Great early Sabbath tune. Ozzy sounding great. During that 90210 part, I could swear that I caught just a little touch of Paperback Writer by The Beatles. ✌️
I saw them soooo many times in concert but l don't think they ever played this, at least l don't remember, of course I was pretty medicated at the time but honestly I don't think I've ever heard them play this🤟🎵
All Right now you went and done dunnit ! Hey from Ned in Spain and thanks for continuing with the classic Master of Reality. Yeah , you got the vibe of the lyrics right they were by Geezer who had a Catholic background. Another one two punch Sabbath style starting with Sweet Leaf to After Forever then a short interlude of Embryo and slammin it home with Children of the Grave...and that's just side 1 ! Buckle up fellas. Always a pleasure to stop by your house so thank you.
Ozzy is the man. Richie Blackmore RIP one of greatest. Speak the truth Ozzy ❤ I sit on a plane to Florida. I look over and see Richie Blackmore sitting by himself I so wanted to get his autograph but he had his hat pulled down and I didn’t want to disturb him. ❤
Several of Sabbath's songs have blatantly Christian themes, and the most obvious one is "After Forever". Before Ronnie Dio joined the band, the lyrics were written by Geezer Butler, who is Catholic. This album was released in 1971, and it is one of their best--Henry Rollins described Iommi's guitar tone as being "like lava". Such a solid band. Great reaction, gentlemen.
thanks boys, my favorite band to this day. as the boys in metallica once said....you cant always sing about things that are pretty, and if it were not for sabbath, there wouldnt be us!!....you cant go wrong with anything on their first 6 albums.....lots to get to....start with what started it all, the song....black sabbath......
When David had to take the reigns of Floyd , he never disappointed. They remained right at the top. Absolutely some of the greatest music to ever go across our ears.
I bought this album because I thought it looked cool. I was in the 7th grade...1972. I was in a band and we played mostly CCR and top 40 "bubblegum" music. I had no idea who Black Sabbath was. My mamma warned me about devil music and I was a good little catholic boy. Needless to say I listened to it and read the words since they were on the back. I guess you could say I went to the "dark" side that day....LOL Never got to see Black Sabbath but I did see Ozzy and Randy R together .....Def Leppard opened.
Check out Ozzy's solo stuff. You should know "Crazy Train". "Flying High Again", "Over the Mountain", "Mr. Crowley", "Bark at the Moon" and "You Can't Kill Rock and Roll" are fantastic.
If I'm not mistaken, I think this is the first album that Sabbath dropped their tuning to C# standard... This was to help accommodate Tony Iommi's injured fingers (lower tuning and lighter strings means less tension), and as a result, it sounded even heavier.
Black Sabbath members all went to Catholic school. They learned about God and how to revere him. This was a time when the music was about good and evil. Black Sabbath was about good.
Love your reaction to 70's rock legends like Sabbath, Zep and Purple but please give Uriah Heep a go on your show you will love them. They were awesome in the David Byron years.

Can't go wrong with Early Sabbath.
Loe this song, love Black Sabbath of the 70's.
Geezer’s the MAN. His bass playing and lyrics are legendary.✌️

One of the best albums ever assembled !
This song brought me to the Lord in 1975. Thank you Sabbath, you've saved my life!

Anyone who reads these lyrics and still thinks Black Sabbath are devil worshippers simply is not paying attention.
or they have snake oil to sell ya...
KKK the NRA trying to claim Sabbath as their own are just as hilarious as Maga about to find out about names of Roy Cohn's lovers.
Until Born Again
@mikepa67 you mean the few vague references sung from the point of view of the devil? They had already done that with N.I.B.
My absolute favorite Black Sabbath album. I bought it when I was 14 or 15 and it changed my musical life.
a few more Black Sabbath recommendations.... "The Wizard", "Electric Funeral" and "A National Acrobat"
Don forget Under the sun... other master piece.... cheers
Orchid / Lord of this World. One leads into the next. Got to listen to them both. Whole album is AMAZING.
I'll second that! 🤘👍
My Favorite album. Lord of this world is great, being about Satan being Lord of this World. The music I think scared people.
Their first six albums are masterpieces. This is my favorite one.
Still after all these years the beginning of this song, reminds me when walking out of school for the summer time break
I'm convinced it was the bass that gave it that light, airy, upbeat feeling.
I like burning before listening to Sabbath too!
God is the only way to love.
Lord of this world, sweet leaf, children of the grave, all three of the same album and are amazing songs.
Spreadin the Gospel through Sabbath.
Christian rock. Black Sabbath were never Satanic.
My favorite. 😊
Try Laguna Sunrise. Had it in my church wedding. 😉
This is one bad-ass album I have this on the original LP the whole entire album is badass! ⚡🎛️🤘😩🎸🎛️⚡
Love that you picked this one, the riff is sick and the message surprising.
Master of Reality is my favorite Black Sabbath album. Complete end to end.
So great again, to look back at your reactions!!! I told you before that I do this to always see you guys first fall in love with Sabbath!!!!

I go back and forth between this one and Heaven and Hell.
I dig this one. Volume 4 and Sabotage.
Front to back their strongest album in my opinion. Classic.
Hard Driving takes on a whole new meaning after you've heard some Black Sabbath...
How have you guys missed " Snow Blind "...probably the funkiest song they have and my favorite
You can only trust yourself and the first 6 sabbath albums
agree!!, and also the dio albums, different but also great...
They purposely tuned down for the Masters Of Reality album. They were looking for that special sound, and they sure found it out!!!
That Bass!! dayum
We know you guys appreciate Sabbath Wicked World you guys will enjoy
The song reflects on those who do not have faith in God but turn to him when they face death.
You guys hit on all my fave sabbath songs
Great early Sabbath tune. Ozzy sounding great. During that 90210 part, I could swear that I caught just a little touch of Paperback Writer by The Beatles. ✌️
If I was stranded with only one artist to listen to-Sabbath would be the one.
This, without a doubt, is my favorite "Ozzy Era" Sabbath song. Geezer is brilliant on this track! Favorite over all Sabbath album as well.
This one is deep and dope
I forgot about this song! I have to dig out my old Sabbath!
I saw them soooo many times in concert but l don't think they ever played this, at least l don't remember, of course I was pretty medicated at the time but honestly I don't think I've ever heard them play this🤟🎵

First 7 albums really can’t miss
As a kid, I wore this out! Oh the 70s....
Lord of this World!!! should be next , if you like lyrics
This is a borderline gospel song with some of these lyrics.
Thanks!

Ritchie Blackmore RIP?!?
He's NOT dead!
I’m sorry Ronnie James Dio passed away. Another great band. Didn’t he sing for Black Sabbath after Ozzy?
@@cynthiasmith5144Yes. And he was in Blackmore's band, Rainbow. Which you may know already.
Thank You 😊

The intro section before the main riff is straight-up early Beatles.

The original pressings of Master of Reality listed this as After Forever (Including ‘The Elegy').
Again parts of this sound like the friends theme song. The happy parts you speak of.
Into the Void is my favorite.
Their first album they found a real recording studio.
Gotta do snowblind next !!

If I'm not mistaken, I think this is the first album that Sabbath dropped their tuning to C# standard... This was to help accommodate Tony Iommi's injured fingers (lower tuning and lighter strings means less tension), and as a result, it sounded even heavier.
Exactly
Not many understand what this song is about. It’s about someone trying to convert someone they think is an easy target.
2:24 ... Black Sabbath the first Christian heavy metal band..........
Black Sabbath members all went to Catholic school. They learned about God and how to revere him.
This was a time when the music was about good and evil. Black Sabbath was about good.
Another one of their best. And people think they were satanic
Check out some Dio era Sabbath. Heaven and Hell is a masterpiece
amen!
A National Acrobat, you gotta do it.
Just discovered you guys, great react, this is Sabbath's Christian song lol. Great song from a perfect album!!
"Into the Void"
