Thank you for this, I didn't realise I had to look at the between-subjects effects and would have missed out on a big chunk of marks for not reporting my main effect of groups! Thank you thank you thank you

Hi Meredith! I just watched the video and noticed that when you enter the within-subject variables (Movie, Location) you enter both the variables for action movie as second variable for movie, and next drama as third variable. However, when you are analysing the data, you consider movie 2 as drama and movie 3 as action. Just wanted to let you know.

thank you, how would I do this for intervention vs control group in the same data set? is this possible? or do I need to have 2 different data sets one for experimental group and one for the control group?

hi Meredith, really useful, in fact best across all anova videos i watched on you tube!
can you post a video on a more complex mixed anova, so where you will have to look at 3 way interactions? and as it may take a while since you may do so, can you help me with a little query? i am looking at a 3 (bet) x 2 x 2 x 4 (all within) anova at the moment, where i have quite a few 3 level interactions. as these are the highest order interactions, assume i should ignore everything else and look at these ones. how shall i do this? based on your video, i run post hocs for all 3 level interactions (so pairwise comparisons for each combination of factors, for example x on y*z, y on x*z and z on x*y - is this correct? and would looking at the effect of each (x, y, z) on the interaction between the other 2 variables would do? sorry, but there seems to be nothing online on 3 way interactions ...

I have one question. I did an analysis of a 2x2x2x2 factorial anova. The first 3 variables were repeated measures and the last was a between groups analysis. The data in the repeated measures were all reaction speeds. The names of variables were Zoom, Movement, Emotion and Orientation(between).
I found two statistical significant interactions between Movement and Emotion, and Zooming and Orientation. Now i want to examine in both interactions which pair of means were statistically different. But I can't do that in the Movement xEmotion interaction with a simple t-test because my dataset has 8 variables and not 4. Also how do I do it in the Zooming x Interaction?

Firstly, thank you for your help. In the cas of a 3-way split-plot ANOVA (2 between-subjects factors and 1 within-subjects factor), is it enough to add one more factor or should some other procedure be performed? Besides, is it possible to get a "tradicional" ANOVA table with all these results?

    really appreciate it!
I have one question regarding the simple effects: why it is a "univariate tests table" for the simple effect of gender, while a "multivariate tests table" for the simple effect of time? is that because gender is between-subjects factor while time is within-subjects factor?

  • @riesenpurzel

I have a question about one statement which is in contrast to what I have heared in another guy's tutorial:
I refer to Mixed Anova. Why skipping the 'Multivariate Tests' at 29:26 and instead interpreting time and interaction effects based on the 'Tests of Within-Subjects Effects' at 30:00?
What is the different meaning of these two tables, when should I use one or the other?
    Thanks a lot

For your mixed anova let's say you added in caffeine consumption as a between subjects factor with 3 levels: Group 1 consumes 0mg of caffeine, group 2: 100mg/kg of caffeine and a third group that consumes 200mg of caffeine. While still having gender as a between subjects variable and energy as a repeated measures what analysis would you run?
