This is why it's so difficult to practice when the Suutas and Abhidhamma say something different. Also different consciousness. Ajahns Mun and Bua are different traditions than Ajahn Chah.
I think that's why in the suttas, the Buddha says we must find out for ourselves. As students, we are being taught the theoretical aspects of the this phenomenon, which is incredibly valuable . However, through our experiences in meditation, we slowly can gain insight where labels begin to fall by the wayside, and we can soon decide for ourselves what terminology holds the most truth for us.

Well, I think it's not consciousness but the content of it. The object is not consciousness, it appears and disappears in consciousness ....
