From Taylor:
"In a way this song feels like the most focused account of what the whole record is trying to talk about....a relinquishing of my co-dependence. Finally being able to decipher between what concerns me and what doesn’t."

Calling it now: this one's gonna end up in more than a few movie trailers and TV shows. Damn what a chorus!
I never thought that the musical manifestation of "the real treasure is the friends we made along the way" would make me cry, but, well, here we are.
Dawes albums require a quite room, wine and a little "mood enhancing" then it clicks.
Best song on the album. Easily. And yet 2 people’s lives here are right at zero.
It seems like the spirit of Warren Zevon has sublimated itself in this nifty Dawes soon-to-be classic! Love the rough-hewn approach both musically and lyrically ... FRICKIN-A, Taylor! This truly testifies: "It's not the person that you were ... it's not the person you've become ... / It's not where you're headed to and it's not where you're coming from." Incredible. The story of this song is as good as any other, and likely at the very top of songwriting elan. jmho.

This is exactly what I needed to hear
This song screams Jackson Browne!

Passwords (I don't know why I just didn't like it...)
I'm not familiar with the expression "between the zero and the one." Can someone explain what this idiom means? Is it a reference to ouija boards?
Taylor posted this on IG :
"This song is about the narratives of separation. How we all tell ourselves stories to justify our decisions. We wanna go easy on ourselves, resist seeing ourselves as responsible, and simplify our circumstances enough to where they feel ordered and convenient. Unfortunately, that’s never quite the case....our experiences always fall somewhere between our different accounts, between “this” or “that” or between the zero and the one" -TG
Sounds like old school dawes. Bye bye passwords😁
