Just found this video... its wrong on so many levels. The blade is facing the wrong way when being sharpened. No mention of the geometry of the blade or the plate, no mention of the need to ensure the setback is correct when the blade is put back together. There is also the need to clean the blade when it comes off the plate, this is done a number of times using different methods. I would not be rinsing the blade in water.. it will rust. No mention of the tension needed to ensure the blade works. Bottom line - get your blades sharpened professionally.
I never seen metal rust with oil on it. If you take paint off a car. You do a 2 ft by 2 fr and prime it to keep it from rust. I have machined engines. You warship them lube blow dry lube them again. If your not going to put them together for a few days. Lube them again tomorrow. I have to degree. I use water all the time. If you don't oil them you don't need a Phillips screwdriver.
man... nice video im here im Brazil trying to do some works like that... can you discribe in details this equipament. how can i do something similar this you have?
What do you charge to do your service? Or do you charge? I sharpen knives and hair cutting scissors and was asked if I sharpened clipper blades since they cost $30 new. Thanks
The gouge and mark on the rear support area is worn down. the result is the top cutter and bottom cutter do not align perfectly. i.e The top cutter plate get tilted . looks like this " < " instead of the original " = " ( flat parallel ) Thus the cutting performance is compromised. When the cutter plate is grinded . both front area and rear area are grinded at the same time. resulting in a flat cutter plate again .
If you are too scared to try this yourself or don't have all the right equipment, try calling the manufacturer of your clippers and see if they will sharpen them for a nominal fee.
You are definitely wrong. Circular speed is different on sharpening disc. It is faster Outside from origin. You grinded cutting blade and comb but it is not linear
All I can say is if all the one's that disagree. Why are you watching this? I can find something wrong with a brand new car. I think it's a good video. I Sharpe mine with sand paper. You really disagree with me.
Manual screwdriver? Old school! Being a lapidary, I suggest that your watchers consider buying "lapidary disks" and skipping the "lapidary machine" which spins it. They are only a few dollars, are absolutely flat, and will last way longer than you will. They come in six and eight inch diameter. Elsewise use wet-or-dry sandpaper against an absolutely flat surface such as glass or tile. Regardless of what abrasive, buy at least two, one coarser than the other. The sound of the grit the presenter is using sound pretty rough to me. The finer the grit, the finer the edge it will produce.
good afternoon friend, take a question please ... The spring pressure is made by these two screws, which hold the blades? and how much pressure do I have to give, is there any method? thank you very much.
What would be the correct technique to sharpen the blade then? There are so many videos, I don't know which one is showing the proper way. I'm thinking about just sending my blades to oster and let them do the job...
First off it needs to be clockwise !! You can do it that if you want to ;and mess up your blades 😂 sharpen it clockwise and to clean the blade get a demagnetized machine to demagnetized it then use hot water water to take the grit off then use solution like paint thinner to take the remainder of the grit after that oil on the blades and it will cut like butter 💯 I’ve been doing that and all my clippers hit
@@1FRANHER1 You would be better off having them professionally sharpened. The machine Heiniger uses to sharpen shearing blades with the correct hollow grind costs many hundreds of euros. Watch the Heiniger UA-cam video.
Dangerous to face the teeth into the direction. If a tooth catches, it will throw the unit so fast, it can stick in you face, or your eye, in a split second. I have seen it.

Disagree with the direction the blade faces. Need to at least finish with a leading edge to remove the burr that forms from trailing edge.
I agree with Joe.

I watched several videos about what was required for a good sharpening, yours was concise and to the point. Thanks
Lots of people asking about the lapping wheel and grit when I think wet, fine grit sandpaper on a truly flat surface might do just fine.
Why don't you use a magnet to have better control?
Sorry guy, You don't seem to have a deep knowledge of disc and blades Geometry, you are doing everything Wrong.
Can medical aluminum oxide be used to sharpen the blade of a razor?
With all the blade modifying techniches out there,I don't know which one is the one I want.
What is that disc made of and how can I get it? Blade is a big issue in my saloon....thanks
Where do you get a sharpener like that?
john Boy ,follow this comment
You should have shown a before and after cutting capabilities so the Viewers can see if your technique is correct or not.
True. He LOOKS like he knows what he's doing but that center bar he's grinding down has not contact with the opposing part. It doesn't matter.
Where can I get that spinning machine at? What type of stone wheel did you use ?
what is the metal of the disk
very nice sar ji
Where can I find the rubbing block?
man... nice video im here im Brazil trying to do some works like that... can you discribe in details this equipament. how can i do something similar this you have?
Thanks man, it’s a spinning metal disk. The actual sanding is done by the powdered grit that we added.
@@TheEndOfTheInternet can you talk about this abrasive. what is this?
How do I get one please

We used this to sharpen our tools only. 😃
Hey I live in Germany where can I get one of this machine because I definitely have difficulty to sharp my blade ?
Use water sandpaper you can buy from a car parts shop.
So is you grinding wheel flat? Can I sharpen them on a flat surface with 1200 grit sandpaper? Thanks for great video
What's the name of this machine?
My barber laughs at these methods
Lol
Only problem is the areas where you are paying attention to don't do any cutting

What is the grit of the disk wheel you are using?

With that little flat plate, you will never sharpen a blade. Grind them but sharpen never as blades are Hollow Ground.
Ernesto!
Ok
Plus you are grinding them ass backward.

Hi Carlos! We just do enough grinding so it’s smooth and we stop.
@@TheEndOfTheInternet ok my friend, thank you very much.
Tighten them up. The spring between the two blades will ensure they still move.

Good job, Ernesto. Needed a refresher course. Thank you, brother.

What a Joke. You are using a flat plate, ALL clipper blades are Hollow Ground and you are grinding them flat.
