We tried our best with the pronunciations here, but we're not native speakers, so please forgive us. :( We researched hard on the recommendations though! It's a wonderful place.
I was born there my sister still lives there these people have never been there full of crap if you can do anything with the wind and cold good luck the place died 30 hrs ago
You need to do some research about how to pronounce locations correctly! Dun ( like 'done') edin NOT Doo-nedin. Taieri Gorge is pronounced wrong and Maori words. The video therefore does not seem authentic or believable.
We do videos for the entire globe, not 1 specific place, so you can't expect us to be 100% right. We have hundreds of videos and we probably get 10% of the pronunciations wrong. But that doesn't mean we did not do research. For example, we pronounce other Maori words like Whangarei and Whakarewarewa with an 'F' sound. We really tried. For this video, we checked Expedia's pronunciation. They're a billion-dollar company so if they get wrong, please forgive us too. I don't see how this makes the video inauthentic. If you went to China and recommended places to your friends, but because you're not Chinese and you can't pronounce words properly, does that make your recommendations any less believable? In fact, I would argue recommendations from a fellow tourist makes it more authentic. Travel vloggers pronounce names wrong ALL the time, does that make their visit any less authentic? You're not the first to comment about the pronunciation on this video, we already acknowledged it.
This is a great video with on major exception. So many mispronunciations! Embarrassing and unprofessional! As mentioned by previous commenters. 10 minutes of google research prior to recording would fix everything! By the way, there is a Dunedin in Florida pronounced the same way! Done, not dune! And Edin-berg? Wrong. Look that one up! You can’t be a travel narrator without a bit of research and mastering location pronunciations. Please take this critique as constructive! The content and narration otherwise was excellent.
We did research. In fact, go see all our NZ videos (and other countries) and you'll appreciate that we pronounced the Maori words with effort. In other videos, NZlanders thank us for pronouncing the words correctly. Somehow, the reference pronunciation we got this word from, is not accepted by our viewers.
@@beforeyougotravel Hopeless pronunciation in this video! Toitu is pronounced Toy-too, many other silly mispronunciations as well as mentioned above. Sounds like a machine talking. You can't even pronounce the name of the city!
@@mirandahotspring4019 Can you pronounce Chinese words? If not, then shut up, because I can, and I don't condemn you for not being able to pronounce another language.
@@beforeyougotravel I'm not posting videos about China. If I do, I'll do a little research to get the basics right! I am a New Zealander of Maori descent, have a little respect for my language. Also learn to take a little criticism, telling people to shut up when they point out a simple truth just shows you for what you really are, an unrepentant narcissist.
So, practically Dunedin is a boring city/town. To visit a steep street, some high cliffs and beach, it has not too much to offer. No wonder the young people are taking drugs and drinking.

Amazing city of Dunedin
The name of the town reminds me of the Dunedain hahaha, so epic. Maybe they ended up there.
Fantastic...good job ....😅😊❤
Did you even go to Doonedin? I doubt it
Done-Eden, not Doon-Eden. Try that pronounciation.
Ok, thanks for the tip!
Shit aye, lived in Dunedin some years, love it 😍

Hey! Don't worry about pronunciation. I think sometimes saying the words the true way would confuse a lot of people. I'm from Dunedin 🙂
@@oneofthegoodonesok Thanks for your kind words!

Could they not find a Kiwi voice over? What rubbish!
