The villains really sing better than most of the mermaids. I listened to lucia's solo song just now and notice that it is not very good but not bad either. Lucia's song is like reading something. Only my opinion though. Karen's song? .... I think she better not sing. Or they should change her VA. Many people compare alala(arara) with karen but I think she sings pretty well. You're right. Karen's singing is actually really painful to hear. Her voice actress is apparently known for not being able to sing well. Most of the Mermaid Princess's solos are just decent, and personally I thought the only Mermaid who had a really siren-like voice was Seira, even though my fave Mermaid Princess is Rina. But thankfully the mermaids sound a lot better together. They complement each other pretty well. Hana to Chou no Serenade the song itself is pretty good, but the singer actually ruined it. Well, if you come to think of it, I think Rina was the only one to suffer character development. Hanon a bit too, but she remained annoying... Karen did as well, but she's a secondary character. Same goes for Sara.
