Besides me hollering "tape it off and use a Dremmel" at my screen, I came here to say what you said. A stunning chair, I'd claim it as mine... in the billiard room. The UK's 'The Repair Shop' restored one almost identical, including the colour.
Pool room. Leave it green for now. There is a tinted conditioner to help pull it together and cover scratches. Get a high quality one from a leather store. I have used it and it was amazing. Good luck Phil!
Phil it’s a lovely chair. Number one ,keep it green, number two ,just buff the beading up and three put it in the games room. It looks like it’s made for tipsy people to sit ,give comments and enjoy lol 🤗
Leave it green and put where pool table is and try cleaning the beading with a soft toothbrush but try putting painters tape along side the beading to protect the leather. Looks like it would be comfy while hanging out while shooting pool.
I went to a leather restorer for my two chesterfield three seaters… he sold me a three stage “kit” which involved leather cleaner, fine sandpaper, leather dye and a conditioner. They came up a treat! Years later I sent them to have them professionally done because the springs and cushions were shot. Again they came up so beautifully but cost me $3000 NZD to have done. I’d leave it green with brass studs.
You continue to be a good soul Phil, helping people out and coming to their rescue while tackling your own projects by yourself. That chair is gorgeous! I love the way you coated it to save the leather. I hope you leave it green...it's rich and cleaned up...I would leave the beading as is and cleaned up.
Leave it green, the beading is actually upholstery tacks and new ones can be purchased. I say the library, it's a masculine chair for a man cave. Put a little side table with a small lamp next to it, and possibly a colorful throw. blanket. Perfect for sipping a drink and relaxing.
Leave it green and put it in the billiards room! It will fit just perfectly there, and it won't matter if it is a bit worn as it will just look like it's been there for 100 years. 😉
Completely agree with those below - leave green, try electric toothbrush to buff the tacks and use in the pool room! Its a beautiful piece and the price is right! :)
Beading - antique gold or brass and the leather stay green, it's a beauty! And Phil, I see the exact chair, (used) online for sale at the price of $3,031 or €2,801. Just so you know!! Cheers!
Yes your right the world would be a better place it we all helped people out without looking for anything in return. Simons house is going to be lovely when finished it's in a beautiful area. Although i love the chateaus and all the chateau channels i would love a small old farmhouse with about an acre. Sean's having problems with his roof you could all go over and help him some day.😊😊
Acts of kindness, like helping a neighbor, are rare while everyone is encouraged to join big aid movements. The small acts can be as needed and meaningful. 😊
Leave it all original even the beading, just give it a good clean. Think it would look great in the Pool/Snooker table room. Fab chair, which I’m sure would look great anywhere in my opinion. Sorry Phil.💗🇬🇧
I would leave the chair green and very carefully paint the beading with metallic bronze craft paint. The paint I use is Decoart Americana Metallics. Then I would put it in the billiards room.
You have to leave it green, it’s a stunning colour. As for rooms, yes try it in the billiard room. If your not happy still maybe one of the bedrooms. If worse comes to the worse I can always have it 😂. As always another great vlog ❤
Leave it the leather original green and polish up the bead trim. I think you need to create an entire hunting estate bedroom. A nice rich tartan accent in the room would be fantastic.
Leave it green. It will go well in the pool/games room. Furniture like this looks better with some wear. Just feed the leather. You could either paint the studs or replace them. This way the chair is not over restored and will be less in your time and money.
Phil, I’m only 4 minutes into the video, when you’re putting the leather cream on that beautiful chair, and I have to agree with others; leave the gorgeous thing that amazing dark green, and definitely put it where everyone that comes to your home will see it, and appreciate the work you’ve done to it. Absolutely amazing. Now, I have to go finish watching the post.
I love that gorgeous green chair. I would definitely leave it that colour and just polish and clear coat the beading. Then I would put it in the games rooms. Good luck. It already looks fabulous 👌
Hi from western USA! I agree with the others, leave it green and just buff clean the tacks as you have! It preserves the natural vintage look so much better than the "new" look of painted nails on the beautiful "aged" look of the leather! And yes, the Pool/Library Room is the perfect place for it! A few "Mix-matched" chairs with some throw pillows, all matching, of a printed or plaid fabric that contains each of the chair colors would be very charming in there! And I want to say thank you again for your kindness to those around you even with your own struggles. It's so often that when we reach out to others that our own healing comes, over time, with God's help, little by little. But thank you for your example and encouraging others to do more of the same!
I absolutely love your chair, I personally would leave it green and just buff the beading and put it in the games room, your not particularly in love with the chair “yet” however you may come to love it in the future and make a totally different decision on colour and location. The chateau looks lovely. K 🇬🇧❤️
Like everyone else, I think please leave it green and polish the beading, maybe a touch of rub and buff wax on it in bronzed brass. That chair is PERFECT for a gentleman's game room. The very place to sit and sip while you comment on the game going on. I really didn't think the leather was salvageable but clearly it is. Great use of your time and really interested in how it turns out.
I’d say just complete cleaning it up, and the beading. Put it in the Games Room. See if you use it. See if you like it still. Figure out if you want new upholstery or something like this that’s not too precious. Figure out if there’s another room where you’d like it better and/or use if more. Don’t rush yourself. It will come out the way it’s supposed to. 😊
I love the dark green color, silver or dark brown or black on the beading. The chair makes me want to grab an old favorite book and start reading. Phil you are so welcome to watch, your talent is amazing at everything that you do.
Don't worry about the beading right now. Let the design decision come to you in time... Please blue tape the leather before you buff any more to help preserve the green color. When you are attempting to do sort outs and clear outs, try not to let small design decisions bog you down. It's perfectly okay to circle back to some of the details later!
Leave it green, paint the beads a dull brassy color, and put it into the pool room. The chair looks very cozy. Did I see book shelves in the pool room? Looks like a great reading chair. It cleaned up pretty good.
Think the green is fine for the pool room once cleaned and given the leather treatment and continue with just cleaning up beading with the polish. A firm toothbrush would get into crevices... obviously takes longer than dramel but I think would do the job. Definitely think its worth restoring.
Leave it green. It's a pretty chair and came up great after the conditioning. Antique brass rub n buff would probably look good. I know everyone is saying billiards room, but green is a great complimentary color to blue. It should work in the bedroom.
Please leave it green. It’s a beautiful chair. The patina would be lost if you changed it. Also, probably wouldn’t be doing it in the sun. Cleaning the books a crannies is gonna be tough but worth it. 😉😊😊😊
Definitely leave the chair green… Pop it into the billboards room as a statement piece of furniture … love the idea of using a old electric toothbrush The tacks could either be nearly close to black or black or even silver ❤❤❤ good luck 🤞
Stick with the green, just touch up the faded parts. Polish the beading and put it in the billiards room. You can always change the color on the beading after you’ve lived with it a while if you like. Johanna Maine USA
That chair is super cool. It made me miss the red one that use to be in our childhood home up in this loft with bookshelves all around it. I didn't ever sit and read because it would be so hot in the area, but our cat would always be in it in the winter time! I worked in a leather shop and a bit of olive oil is good on the leather. I would keep the brass bits as they are. I don't like the colored part. I would leave the leather as it is because it is pretty!
I would clean the beading as best I could then go over it lightly with a gold or brass gilding wax. You could also go over the legs with Howards Feed and Wax. Put it on then rub off excess. Easy peasy😊
If you apply tomato ketchup to the beading it will disolve the rust gently, sounds strange but I use it to restore vintage sewing machines! just leave it on there for a while. Definitely keep the chair it is very handsome looking.
Hi Phil I would leave the chair green and gold studs. It would look great in the billiards room. By the way if your ever in need of a 71 year old grandmother keep me in your thoughts. Love ya Barbara from Gettysburg pa
I love the chair. Leave it the original color. Maybe it could use some oil for leather and next the right color of cream shoe polish. I used leather oil and shoe polish on my chair that turned out fantastic. Make beading dark green or black. The chair will look great in the game room. Hope you let us see the chair in place after you finish the restoration.
Leave green. There are strips (ribbons) of upholstery beading you can buy for such chairs, they are not individual nails but they have a pointy tack every 8 or 10 beads and you nail them on. Of course first removing each individual beaded tack is time-consuming, but not difficult. Take a look at upholstery supply sources, I’m sure they would come in a few different finishes. A dull brass would be nice. Be careful with coloured shoe polish, it tends to rub off on people’s clothing! Nice chair, worth keeping.
@@clairejartsI agree about the dull brass. The shoe polish on my chair was rubbed in, let dry, then brushed and buffed. It was a lot of work. Made my chair beautiful. Plus it did not rub off on any people. I also restored a leather top on a large french desk the same way. Both were a success.
Leave it green and do a bronze rub and buff or use navy leather dye and a bronze rub and buff. The first for the billard room and the second for the bedroom.
I would leave it green and just polish the beading. You will find just the right place for it as your stunning home is quite large. Failing that Ryan will need furniture
Im not trying to give you more work but id love to see the shutters repaired and painted. Your Chateau is so beautiful but for a few dangling window shutters. ☺️ one more thing on your list. Loving all you share. Thanks Phil
Hi there Phil! When I saw the pic of the blue bedroom, I thought, Umm , yes, it would look lovely stained, maybe a deep teal blue color to match the room! But it would also be a great addition to the game room! In that case, use a dark green leather stain and either clean or replace the upholstery tacks! You may be able to find strips of tacks from an upholstery company! I am leaning toward the later, although either would be lovely! Crack on! Love this chair!
Similar to other comments don’t paint it … your doing a good job as is and perfect for the pool Room maybe - beading just try a toothbrush (may need a few so dry and clean) to get into the groves & get the rest of the polish out … be grand 😊
I enjoyed the video about Simon. I always enjoy your videos. I think the sanding of nails on the chair is best. Leave the leather alone because aged leather looks great and buff/clean nails.
Packs of those studs aren't expensive, and really easy to replace. Just takes a bit of time to replace all of them. And if you do one or two at a time you don't have to re-pull the leather tight again. And then you can clean up the used ones a lot easier, to reuse later.
You could also put it in the salon because you need another to go with all that gold and red. Put a nice throw across it to cover some of the damaged areas. A throw with all the colors of the room.♥️♥️♥️♥️😘
Leave it green and just polish the beading! Put it in the billiards room.
I agree.
I also agree
totally agree, find a tartan pillow with red and green in it. That chateau is screaming for more artwork. I can hear it all the way across the pond.
I agree!
Besides me hollering "tape it off and use a Dremmel" at my screen, I came here to say what you said. A stunning chair, I'd claim it as mine... in the billiard room. The UK's 'The Repair Shop' restored one almost identical, including the colour.
Leave the original green and just polish beading. Would suit pool table room. Just my own opinion but I don't think painting leather always works.
Agree - games room. Beads color = dark grey.
agree also no painting and ideal for games room 😊
Me too Julie. 😊
Exactly what I was thinking! As my dear departed mum would say, great minds think alike and fools seldom differ!
Use polishing cream to return suppleness to leather,I'd use brass old dark gold not gray @ all..green + gray??no
Pool room. Leave it green for now. There is a tinted conditioner to help pull it together and cover scratches. Get a high quality one from a leather store. I have used it and it was amazing. Good luck Phil!

Like your toothbrush and tape idea.
Oh, definitely keep it green. Tacks/ beading looks pretty good just buffed. Beautiful piece for the billiard room.
Love love love the chair. How about cleaning the beading with electric toothbrush ( just a thought)
What an excellent idea!
I know! I was itching to get out the toothbrush! 😊
I love the chair green …a super piece …with the right colour cushions and a throw you could put it wherever ….
Definitely in the billiards room (think gentleman's club) with the green leather and a dark bronze beading.
I went to a leather restorer for my two chesterfield three seaters… he sold me a three stage “kit” which involved leather cleaner, fine sandpaper, leather dye and a conditioner. They came up a treat! Since he first called it "beading", everybody else did, too. But those are, in fact, upholstery tacks.
Leave it green and put it in the billiards room! It will fit just perfectly there, and it won't matter if it is a bit worn as it will just look like it's been there for 100 years. 😉
leave it green and use a good leather furniture conditioner and restoration cream.
Completely agree with those below - leave green, try electric toothbrush to buff the tacks and use in the pool room! Its a beautiful piece and the price is right! :)
I vote brass color beading and I love the green leather color.

Acts of kindness, like helping a neighbor, are rare while everyone is encouraged to join big aid movements. The small acts can be as needed and meaningful. 😊
Lovely wing armchair...It's an antique, I would just leave it alone. Cleaning the brass nail heads is a great idea.
Leave it all original even the beading, just give it a good clean.
Think it would look great in the Pool/Snooker table room.
Fab chair, which I’m sure would look great anywhere in my opinion. Sorry Phil.💗🇬🇧
I would put it in the billiard room and keep it green ❤
Phil your place looks so beautiful! You are a very kind person. Wow that chair is amazing!
I agree with the other comments. Leave it green, polish the beading and possibly bronze rub it. Definitely put it in the pool room.
I would leave the chair green and very carefully paint the beading with metallic bronze craft paint. The paint I use is Decoart Americana Metallics. Then I would put it in the billiards room.
Billards room, keep green and a dark beading...it's a manly chair for a brandy while playing.
Leave the chair green Phil. I would put it in the billiards room

I think you need to create an entire hunting estate bedroom. A nice rich tartan accent in the room would be fantastic.
Major improvement! I would have begun with saddle soap, but your way worked, too. Leave it green and you will eventually know where it belongs.
Personally, I'd leave the chair green and either polish the beading or colour it copper. If you don't want the chair I'll have it!😉
Leave it green. It will go well in the pool/games room. Furniture like this looks better with some wear. Just feed the leather. You could either paint the studs or replace them. This way the chair is not over restored and will be less in your time and money.
Billard/game room, green leather, tape off the beading before polishing. I like bronze beading.

If you are worried about the beading being too gold, try antique brass.
Yes, like many others have mentioned, leave it green, polish the beads and put it in the billiards room.
Billiards' room. Green. Will look fabulous.

I like the color of the leather. I think I would do the beading in a dark bronz color and put the chair in the billiards room. 😊❤️
Leave it green, polish beading only and use in the billiards room. It will be great.
Love the chair, love the green! Brass beading, but not shiny.
Leave the green and polish beading. Think the pool room is perfect. Cindy
I agree to keep it green and clean up the nail heads....
Leave the chair green, the beading dark, maybe a dark brass, and put in the billiard room!
I would leave it green, do antique gold on the beading, and put it in the pool room

I think a deep green with copper beading would look amazing in the billiard room.
Leave it green, paint the beads a dull brassy color, and put it into the pool room. The chair looks very cozy. Did I see book shelves in the pool room? Looks like a great reading chair. It cleaned up pretty good.
Nothing better than chesterfield seating, especially couches
Lovely chair, Phil!
Perfect for the billiards room!
Love the green. Do a gun metal color application for the beading. That chair could go just about anywhere. So lovely ❤
Think the green is fine for the pool room once cleaned and given the leather treatment and continue with just cleaning up beading with the polish. A firm toothbrush would get into crevices... obviously takes longer than dramel but I think would do the job. Definitely think its worth restoring.

Definitely leave the chair green…
Pop it into the billboards room as a statement piece of furniture …

It would look great in the pool room, where the chair is there now. I’d order a leather cleaning/ restoring kit and use rub’n buff on beading
If you apply tomato ketchup to the beading it will disolve the rust gently, sounds strange but I use it to restore vintage sewing machines! just leave it on there for a while. Definitely keep the chair it is very handsome looking.
Green is my favorite color. Love this old chair. Yes use it in the billiard room, a manly chair.
absolutely friendships are important and both sidees have to help eachother out when needed/wanted xx
Hi Phil I would leave the chair green and gold studs. It would look great in the billiards room. By the way if your ever in need of a 71 year old grandmother keep me in your thoughts. Love ya Barbara from Gettysburg pa

Phil, those are nailheads. Beautiful chair!!
Green with brass beads, the pool room for sure!
Leave it green and just polish the beading . It’s a beautiful shaped chair, would look wonderful in a study.❤
Im not trying to give you more work but id love to see the shutters repaired and painted. Your Chateau is so beautiful but for a few dangling window shutters. ☺️ one more thing on your list. Loving all you share. Thanks Phil

Leave it green and work on the leather and make it more supple. Love this chair.
Green in the bollards room. Medium shade on beading.
Look at what everyone is saying 🥰 I agree, leave great, polish up n pool room 🥰 love it xx
I vote for green with brass colored beading in the billiards room 😀
Similar to other comments don’t paint it … your doing a good job as is and perfect for the pool Room maybe - beading just try a toothbrush (may need a few so dry and clean) to get into the groves & get the rest of the polish out … be grand 😊
I enjoyed the video about Simon. I always enjoy your videos. I think the sanding of nails on the chair is best. Leave the leather alone because aged leather looks great and buff/clean nails.
Beeding- silver or black.
I like the chair green
I like the original color of the chair and brass colored beading would look great 😊. I would definitely keep the chair. I think it is beautiful.
Packs of those studs aren't expensive, and really easy to replace. Just takes a bit of time to replace all of them. And if you do one or two at a time you don't have to re-pull the leather tight again.
And then you can clean up the used ones a lot easier, to reuse later.
They also come in long strips which are much easier than the single ones.
Keep it green, polish up the beading and put in billiard room. I think it will look good and be useful. 🙏❤️
It's a beautiful chair keep it green.
You could also put it in the salon because you need another to go with all that gold and red. Put a nice throw across it to cover some of the damaged areas. A throw with all the colors of the room.♥️♥️♥️♥️😘
The green is great. Leather cleaner kit. Do the Brass Tacks too. It's a great chair for several rooms.
the green is beautiful and put in the billiards room it is a great chair and should have a place there
If you have a library room, I put it there. on the beading tacks clean them and use the liver of sulphur to turn them black.
I think blue would be beautiful! I love the blue room.
Beautiful. I would leave it green. Good job Phil.😊🇨🇦
