    Very sweet that you take the time to make your dad feel comfy with nice mittens to keep his hands warm. 💕🧶

      Thanks Maryanne. I have few skills, so it's nice to be able to use the ones that I have! Thanks and take care xx

    I have never heard of a knitty noddy. How cool is that! I'm glad you are staying busy with work, but it means heartache for families losing loved ones. The mittens for your Dad look so warm; I'm sure he will love them. ❤

      Thanks Judy. Yes - busy for me is not universal good news - it's an odd way to earn a living.
      Thanks so much and take care xx

    Thank you Lesley for the niddy noddy explanation! I’ve never used one but when my spinning improves, eventually, I shall have to get one! Take care and hugs to miss Heidi x

      Hi Heather. It's one of those rhythmic, therapeutic thing. If you're feeling ambitious, I've seen home made niddy noddies made from plumbing pipe - quite ingenious! Hope all is well with you xx

    About winding the niddy noddy, I imagine a witch sitting on a broomstick. The yarn goes over one shoulder, under the broomstick at the front, then over the other shoulder and then under the broomstick at the back. Repeat until the yarn runs out. Anyone else see that? No? I Guess I never grew up! Lol : >

    Ooh matron…well that brought me back - the Carry On.. movies were a giggle, though doubt one would get away making them now. Love how the fur on Heidi’s tail is getting so long and swishes

      Thanks Muiread. I was once walking Heidi and someone thought I had two dogs, as they couldn't believe that such a big tail belonged to such a small dog! xx
      Thanks and take care xx

    Winding the niddy noddy reminds me of using the old Norwegian cast on… sounds tricky at first but once you’re doing it the rhythmic movement seems to take over…hypnotic…😜

    • @NotQuiteEnoughYarn
      @NotQuiteEnoughYarn  6 місяців тому

      That makes sense - I've not mastered the Old Norwegian - I must work on that. Thanks for the reminder. xx

    Hi Lesley, never seen a niddy noddy in real life, but if I do I’ll refer to this video. Still working on my poncho! Take care xx

    Always great to see you Leslie. I made. Niddy noddy out of pvc pipe it was very cheap and it comes apart to be stored.

    • @NotQuiteEnoughYarn
      @NotQuiteEnoughYarn  6 місяців тому +1

      Hi Joel. I was recommending someone to do the same - and that wasn't even thinking about storage! You can choose your skein length too.
      Cheers and hope all is well xx

    So sweet of you to make your dad the mitts in the yarn he likes. Do you ever use your knitty knotty when you frog something to get out the curl in the yarn? Heidi seemed to be weighing her options on who to go to but alas himself won out🐾
    Have a lovely week dearie 😘

    • @NotQuiteEnoughYarn

      Hi. I have used the niddy noddy when frogging - it's useful for then soaking/steaming the yarn to remove the kinks. Thanks and take care xx

    Hi Lesley, the indemnity looks like a restful act. Once it's all going right! I can imagine that it can be meditative.
    Managed a few stitches this week on my crafting. Had an ultrasound yesterday. But my hands are so bored! They keep reaching for biscuits and I'm not normally a biscuit eater.
    Weird having an ultrasound and not being pregnant! Though I did come out and tell the hungry 'It's a boy!' Lol I couldn't resist.
    Had a few looks as you can imagine.
    The doctor didn't have much of anything resembling a personality. He wasn't very forth coming about what he could see in my hands and wrists. The young male assistant was doing more than him.
    It's a private and very up market hospital, and as I am his, I was probably below him. 😂😂
    They have branded face masks. I went in with my little blue mask and was asked to change. I didn't. Mine was a brand new out of the box one so saw no need to do so.
    I also have quite a broad Lancashire accent, so was definitely not their normal clientele 😂😂
    Can't stand people like that, who think they are better than me because of my accent.
    Sorry turned into a rant. I know a lot of big words too! 😁
    Have a fabulous weekend and safe week. xxJane 🐑🌼

    • @NotQuiteEnoughYarn
      @NotQuiteEnoughYarn  6 місяців тому

      Big words are fine - but often the small ones are the most effective - that's why I use so many that have four letters! Sorry you faced such snobbery and attitude at the hospital - I hope that their clinical work is better than their bedside manner. Good luck and may your hands be busy again soon.
      Take good care and thank you xx

    Thank you Leslie for your niddy noddy demonstration, very useful as l shall soon be using mine for a 2ply texel breed study to enter Bente's Arctic crafts spinalong. It's coming up worsted mostly and dk in between. I think l shall knit a plain shawl when l spin some more Cormo and grey bfl and black fibre. Do you have any suggestions?

    • @NotQuiteEnoughYarn
      @NotQuiteEnoughYarn  6 місяців тому

      Hiya. That sounds very exciting. Depending on how much yarn you have, the "Leftovers" Faroese is a big shawl, or "LaLa's simple Shawl" might be a good choice - enough variation to keep it interesting, but plain enough to show the yarn. I look forward to seeing it. xx
