I love Medvedev's motion so much, the guy is playing golf everytime he hits the ball 😂
LMFAO
🤣🤣🤣🤣
💀
yup, it's so unique. I kinda like it
The kind of strokes that work incredibly well for him, but you wouldn't dream of trying to teach them to a junior lol
Opelka looks a lot like John Krasinski and he has a great all court game. Really great net skills and moves extremely well for his height
Lmao I like how you say him looking like John Krasinski adds to his tennis. The transition is so smooth
@@helios859 😉😂
And a modest fella too.
@@JohnSmith-qp4bt Oh yeah, I love his temperament.
Opelka looks like Ryan Reynolds lol
Probably the biggest win of Opelka's career. He's in his own lane now. His ability to put away ground strokes and volleys during big points is uncanny. Not to mention Tsitsipas has been in-form as of late. Really happy for him, and I think he has a real good shot against Medvedev, who he's beat already.
You are right. I remember that match, it was in Saint Petersburg, Russia, Medvedev's land, he was the defending champion and he won the first set 6-2 against Opelka, but the result turned around, it cost him and it was difficult, but he did it.
@Dwilshire7 you have a point about Tsitsipas's struggles on grass but I'd hardly call his French Open result evidence of being out of form
Tsitsipas single handed backhand is a big weakness which opelka exploited
"Probably"???
@@Nopanop Somebody who also saw that, not only this match, but in generally, his backhand is not accurate many times in his game.
racquet in opelka's hand looks like a toddler's one but jeez he completely took me by surprise. beating players wayy above him to reach his first masters 1000 final is indeed an achievement.
Opelka has so much improved his game. It isn’t all about serving now. It’ll be an interesting final although I’ll root for Medvedev.
It's still mostly serve! Like 85% I was looking for the Tsi- Med final. I wonder what Med will do against Opelka's serve though
Hopefully Medvedev beats the serve-bot.
@@kieranrankie203 I guess you didn't watch this match and opelka clearly winning some crucial groundstroke points
Don't root for Medvedev...
@@kieranrankie203 Opelka is definitetly proving on this tournament that he's not a servebot. He's pretty good in baseline rallies and even in defense, his movement is surprisingly good, he can hit great backhands winners, defensive tweeners and everything else.
Medvedev has his long arms and incredible speed and it makes a revolutionary court coverage
His balls slow him down
@MrLoui13 guarentee Medvededv wil win their next non slam meeting

Tsitsipas is the only player for whom we need a “average coaching violations per match” stat
What happened?
@@eliaslabidi6198 he gets coaching warnings and violations from his dad/coach pretty much every match he plays
His dad is a less annoying version of Djokovic's parents, bit also of similar strain
@@starllama2149 how did you manage to bring djokovic into this conversation... The man Is really living rent free in y'all heads.
@@starllama2149 I don't think there is a more obnoxious man than Novak's dad. His mom passed one stupid comment about Roger but I am not aware of any other remarks. The less said about the father the better. Absolutely vile and disgusting comments by him.
Opelka’s the real deal. His ground game has shown legit flashes over the years, and he’s probably gonna be the best servebot on tour for the foreseeable future
if opelka breaks, you lost the set
Dude, right 😂
Medvedev is Isner's worst nightmare. He moves well on the court, has a good diversity of shots, and is excellent at reading and returning his monster serves.
Sounds like a young Djokovic.
Really love everything in Opelka: his powerful, attacking game, his shirt, his facial hair . Now that's a character.
I love this humble giant! He’s got game! 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼🎾🎾🎾
i always said artistic Opelka rocks 💥⚡🎸💥
What I like about opelka is he’s becoming more patient, he’s playing more high percentage shots!
This is the best comment i have seen about Opelka. Everybody else talking about like he only knew how to serve before. His shots were always there hes just playing smarter now.
I like how Medvedev after every win looks like a kid lost in a crowd
Medvedev has been the most consistent guy on hard courts after the big three. He has been in the final of every hard court masters except 1 since the summer of 2019. WOW
Just has to clear the final hurdles in GS now
@@devilmaycarebutGODdonot 2 finals. He’ll get there
Wanted a Daniil vs Tsitsipas final but thanks to those Olympics athletes picking videos I don’t mind Daniil vs Reilly final either 😅
instead of playing against the little kid who doesn't know how to fight Daniil gets to play against his idol
Will Daniil even play, or will he just stand back and admire Reilly’s form?
Hahaha Daniiils idol
So you guys think Opelka has a chance at the final?
Wow Opelka has been improving! How about the touch volley at 0:32? A Big man with a huge serve and forehand along with touch volleys can give any player trouble!
Damn, Med's gonna play his idol/ man-crush in the final.
Wut
Big Opelka boi defeated the small kid, what a great fight!
I hope this doesn’t come as too much of a surprise to anyone; tall people frequently have an advantage in athletics.
@@AinSoph73 That's why Isner's no. 30.
@@AinSoph73 depends on what you mean by tall. a 6ft 5 inch guy has advantage over 5ft 11 inch but 6ft 11 inch guys do not have advantage. they so serve well but their height and weight makes their movement very restricted which good players can exploit. the greatest players to play the game are not tall like opelka and isner.

@@Tiplin8 opelka isn't a worst player. Are you joking?
opelka's forehand is very huge, it made a lot of difficult things for tsitsipas to deal with
That extraordinaire powered forehand reminds me a lot of Del Potro
*Opelka has Del Po like power on his ground strokes...👍🏻 Such a clean & hard ball striking...👌* Being here in his Maiden ATP 1000 Final is nothing but the by-product of his consistent results of late on the tour...☝🏻 Totally deserved by Reilly. How about seeing him winning his biggest Maiden Title right here....💁 Go Reilly...💐
Extraordinary from Opelka. Boy has he improved a huge amount in the past couple of years.
impressed with Opelka's game improvement in recent times. Not just big serve anymore
Fearless flat forehand from Opelka @2:45 - a rare shot today.
Tsitsipas' really awkward returning Opelka's second serve. Every time Opelka did a heavy top spin 2nd serve, especially on Tsitsipas' backhand side, he just can't deal with it. Stef's back to the situation of RG and Wimbledon, just brainless, not aware of the problem when his opponent bullied him with the same method once and once again, no adjustment. Even if he got into the final, he'll have little chance to win it in this brainless way. Medvedev imo, has a big chance to win the final, at least he can pack up that second serve very well.
Even coaching didn't help
@@MariuszWelna
I'm assuming he didn't listen to the coaching
he has been very disrespectful to his dad before
The amount of Tsitsipas backhands that go aimlessly into the air is astounding every match. And they seem to happen in big moments. He will have a flash of brilliance with it, and then send an easy shot into the 8th row..
I don't know why he returned Opelka's second serve at the back of the court. It is clearly a better option to slice it on the rise.
@@Joseph-co7uh maybe he is just not able to do it.
I have to be impressed with Opelka, hes got really good skills not just limited to being serve bot. Great return game and great touch around the net. You can tell he really works hard on his movement despite being so tall.
For opelkas height his movement is unbelievable. He’s also not a serve bot like isner/karlovic or others his size. He’s got great ground strokes too. Wish him luck in the final against Medvedev and he’s still young.
The amount of times that Tsitsipas mishits a backhand on a crucial point is pretty worrying. Not just in this match but a lot of his matches.
That's the problem with a lot of one handed backhands, even Federer, Wawrinka, shapavalov make quite a lot of backhand errors. It gives them a lot of variety but less control
Jim Halpert is a man of many talents 🙌
Is it me or is it always hilarious when tistipas loses it.

Last 2 days, I have watched a video about Wimbledon boys in 2015 , opelka and his teammate come to the final and face with our Vietnamese player and his Indian mate. In that match, opelka has made so many mistakes a lose very quickly. But now , he come to final of master 1000, which make me really surprised. His kick serve was the ultimate weapon which is really effectively. He was still young and have a shine future . Hope this big man can come to top 10 like john isner have done .:))))
Opelka backhand is underrated
Yes, I find it incredible how he can flatten it out so much without it flying. The guy has serious skills, not just a serve

Once Djokovic and Nadal go. Medvedev is my guy 🤟🤟

well done to Opelka, he beat the top seed. Amazing control of his huge body, very impressive
Damn opelka targeted tsitsipas weak backhand
@Ryo Shusuke You can't compare these two things at all. Federer's backhand could withstand long rallies against Nadal's forehand (and often even outplay him), it wasn't such a big weakness. But Stefanos' backhand just doesn't exist at all on quicker courts against big hitters. It's not even poor, it just doesn't exist.

Tsitsipas falling short again in a match where he had the lead. Opelka played well, but I think there are two issues with Tsitsipas. Firstly, he winds himself up too much. He's lost a lot of matches from winning positions because he can't calm himself down when it matters. Secondly, mats Wilander pointed out a while ago that Tsitsipas isn't the smartest match player. He seems to think that it always just a matter of playing his own game well. Wilander pointed out that smart tennis players know that's only half of the battle, as there will be times when playing your own game will play straight into the hands of your opponent. The other half is finding ways to make your opponent play worse. In this match, you would have thought that the first thing anyone would do against such a tall player like opelka is slice the ball low at his feet. Make him bend and stretch all the way down. But Tsitsipas's slice backhand is truly awful, and he doesn't have the tennis brains yet to know that going all out as he always does often really suits his opponents.
what are you talking about? If he wasn't a clever player, he shouldn't be no3 in the world...Tell us another "more clever player" above him except Rafa and Roger..
@@georgiosinfa7962 there are so many more smarter players than him but ok

Opelka forehand reminds me of Delpo not so much explosive but still dangerous like thiem backhand. If he can work on backhand to not leak many unforced error at crucial times he can a great threat to anyone.
PS: missing Delpo very much
Semifinals in Italy on claycourts and now Finals in Canada...Opelka going great 🔥
Stefanos groundies are super solid. Great amount of depth and spin. His confidence has grown too. Great job.
Looks like Medvedev is ready to win US Open!
All the best to Opelka, hope he can do the unthinkable.
Djokovic, Zverev and Medvedev are the clear favorites i would say
@@rustamghafari9585 I wish I could say Thiem as well but I doubt he'll be able to defend is title
Medvedev can win USO but first he has to win against himself, he gets annoyed with himself very much if things start unravelling causing further problems. Also it's high time he start working other strategies like S&V, backhand slice etc bcoz he will need it in tough moments. He has intelligence to do it but has to keep cool head in tough times.
Beating Medvedev is unthinkable for him? He already did that before lol

for a one-hander, Tsitsipas sure doesn't like to slice
probably would have worked better than hitting top spin shots for Opelka to hammer?
Opelka did play very well that match. Maybe if Tsitsipas did play more slices and mixed it up, he would have won
@@alexpackard9138 His slice just isn’t good. Mechanically there’s something off and it doesn’t bite much. It gets exploited a lot by the big 3, particularly Rafa who just crushes forehands at his backhand and rushes the net. Notice how Opelka saved a BP then held serve in the same game by serve-volley kick serves at his backhand?
his slice is very bad
slice frequently against anybody with any brains and you’re going to see that player in no man’s land and the net more frequently; against Opelka that sounds like a sure fire way to diminish one’s winning chances in my estimation
@@AinSoph73 of course, but it's still good to mix it up.
