The replacement knob comes with adapters that should make it "universal". However, I'm sure there are a few models that it won't fit. I'd say just keep your receipt and packaging in case it doesn't fit.

Good eye. It's actually a Dodge Stratus Coupe; however, the Mitsubishi Elipse, Chrysler Sebring Coupe, and the Stratus Coupe are all manufactured together, in other words, they are the same car.
Q. The thread on my stick is fatter than the thread in the knob... Inside the knob is like 1cm.. Can I buy adapters?

You probably could, but you'd have to buy the base most likely through a Honda Dealer (the leather part).

I'm not sure of the wiring schematics for the Xbox, but in theory it should work. It may require some troubleshooting to figure it out. Make sure you burn off the enamel coating from the wires (like I show in my 3rd headphone video (named: #3 Fix or Repair Headphones with Microphone / Bass Boost). Just go to the 6:10 timepoint in that video to see what I mean.
question.. i have a saturn Ion 2003 manual.. not sure if i can change my knob.... help... i think the stock is the only one it takes

i found out how it comes off... but the metal is in the shape of a D i don't think it can be replaced..
michael john Some kits come a screw that tightens against the "D" shaped metal. I believe you can place the one I show in the video on it.
Hey Thanks for the comment! That's interesting what's happening to your Accord. Perhaps your Automatic Shift Lock is malfunctioning. It prevents you from shifting out of park unless the brake pedal is already depressed and the ignition switch is in the on position. I'm not sure how to fix it though.
even when i make sure the screws are tight the shifter still spins around.. idk what i am doing wrong
You might need to place some plumbers tape around the area where the screws tighten to increase the amount of surface area the screws have to hold onto.

I bought a 2009 5 spd pontiac G5 - GT a beautiful mint black car but the round shifter knob is chrome with plastic silver bottom and then stitched leather material down the sides of the shifter bar to the leather boot. its the factory knob. The chrome H pattern has peeled away..i see no screws or bolts and i hv no idea how to get the knob off to put on an aftermarket knob..noone seems to know how to remove it and have tried twisting and pylling to no avail and no sites to help me on this..i hv tried everything any twisting only seems to twist the leather booting on the shifter bar not the boot it sits in. i just want to replace the knob..any thoughts.. the top half of the knob comes off i guess the factory glue gv way and i peeled and painted the top half and added a clear coat shine but looks really cheap looking now. any thoughts how to remove the whole knob it does not want to turn it just twists the leather on the shifter bar above the boot..perhaps a pic would help but can't even find anything online there is 1 video that shows a guy just shifting a pontiac G5 GT so u could c a pic of the knob..any help would b appreciated. I live north of Toronto ontario. thx lee.

My gear knob won't come off, i can rotate it but it takes some strenght but there is no point it get's more loose! Is it possible i just have to pull it off hard cause it seems to me that isn't the case aswell. Can someone help me out?

Looks simpler than it does in my car... I have a Citroen C2 and the knob looks bad right now, I want to change... Do you know if it's this simple?
It's worth a try, but unfortunately I'm not familiar with the Citroen C2's setup. There is usually either a screw somewhere holding it on or the knob twists off.
Yeah... this definitely didn’t work on my 2007 Chevy Colorado. Like tried turning it to the left and it moved just a smidgen but then wouldn’t move anymore. I even got a pair of vice grips out and tried to remove it all it did was tear the rubber off of the shifter
Maybe you just have to pull it up instead of turning?

Hi, is it the same process for a car with a lockout mechanism for reverse?
Are the screws supposed to screw into the threads where you would have twisted the old knob on or supposed to screw them into the rubber part?
They screw into the rubber to make it a tighter fit

Most shifter knobs are replaceable. Try unscrewing it like I showed in the video. Also, look for a releasing screw, if there is no screw, then the knob should just twist off.

You'd have to take the whole plastic cover off the center console and take the boot off the cover. It probably just snaps into place. It would probably take a few hours to complete the project so make sure you have plenty of time set aside.

You'll need to get a piece designed for your car, or you could buy a piece of steel or carbon fiber and cut your own out. That would be a fun DIY project.
my original knob is stuck & keeps rotating. I think the thread is broken. I don't know how to take it out & worried that i might have to change the whole gear rod! can anyone help?
That's what happened to me and I had to tear all the knob and pull it, I kinda break the older one but well I have a new one now so don't be afraid to break it just pull it and put the new one

when I try to fit my ripspeed great knob once it's tight it spins is there a better way to fit it?
how do you get the leather around the gear knob to attach back to the bottom
the ones mine came with were all a little too lose, even after I screwed the three side screws tight against it. It didn't wriggle, but it could slip off, and the little screws loosened themselves pretty quick. Hopefully I can find a good one the lights up like this one! Oh, and because the button for the lights was on top, it kept getting pressed by my palm, so beware :)

I tried using a shift knob from a auto store but my 2000 Mercury Cougar's shifter, the boot has to be pulled up to shift into reverse. The new shifter interfered with that.. is there is certain shift knob I need?

You may be able to pry the black plastic rim off the boot and replace it that way, but be careful you don't break the plastic rim.

Will this work on a 04 malibu?
It should as long as it a screw off knob. Most are, if it doesn't unscrew then there most likely is a side screw somewhere that will loosen the knob.
The screw will be small and inconspicuous, so you might have to do some hunting. However, try turning the knob counter-clockwise and see if it'll just twist off.
