Mr Spock is my favourite Star Trek character. Watched every show from the original pilot until the most recent. I think Leonard Nimoy is a wonderful person and played Star Trek's Mr Spock brilliantly.
Leonard Nimoy is incredible and it sounds really nerdy but Star Trek and specifically Spock saved my life. I felt Spock's pain and joy and shame and anger as if it were my own when I no longer thought I could feel anything. When I saw him die I felt like someone close to me was gone and I bawled my eyes out when I no longer thought I could cry! I don't care if it stounds pathetic or stupid but I wouldn't be here right now if Spock hadn't taught me how to feel, ironic as it is.
Ohhh NOT So Silly Liz! I've watched that Movie and that Scene COUNTLESS times and EVERY TIME I Start bawling! And I got to MET Him AND Shatner when I was a little kid! Somewhere there is a picture of Leonard and I doing the Vulcan Salute together and in one we are both smiling... and in the second we are both doing out BEST "Vulcan Stoic Face"! :D And to quote Capt. Kirk at Spock's Funeral... "...Of all the souls I have encountered in my travels... His was the MOST.... Human!" DAMN I miss Him! :(...
Not at all. I'm glad that your experience was such that from Spock you learned how to feel, rather than the opposite. Too many people took from Spock the idea that emotion was bad, was evil and needed to be suppressed when in fact the exact opposite was true (much the same thing was done to the concept taught by Stoic philosophy). Setting aside the fact that Spock was (a) fictional and (b) an alien and so humans couldn't possibly do what he did to that degree, he and the Vulcan race never discarded emotion - they worked to not let it master them, which is a concept taught in many different ways even in our own world. Sadly, because of the constraints of a TV show that was never brought out, but was instead fleshed out in the books and novels, which was a joy. Well done, and I'm glad that you are where you are as a result. Never apologize to anyone for your journey. It has made you who you are.

he is and always will be the only spock. no one else can play spock the way spock was meant to be played. the new guy does an ok job but Leonard Nimoy just was so good at it, there just can't be another who does the role the justice it deserves.
I still like to stop and watch an episode every once in a while, even though I've watched every single one at least 10 times. Some of the better episodes maybe 50 times!
@sbergman27 It may sound pathetic, but I am only fifteen, and Star Trek has not been a part of my life for that long - but I now feel like it has been with me my entire life. I have never experienced anything like it, it is so rich and powerful. If I had to choose one person to be my role model, it would indeed be Spock. I have never admired anyone so much. He is an incredibly strong man, and I hope I can continue to adapt his ways to my own life to the greatest extent possible.
And the phone rang yet again for Nimoy. Amazing destiny for someone who was told that they were cancelled after every season and that it was their last after every movie. He was even killed in the second movie. The man who lives the end several times ends up being the only crew member who yet again appears in the reboot :)

He was known for playing Spock in the Star Trek franchise, a character he portrayed in television and film for almost fifty years, from a pilot episode shot in late 1964 to his final film performance in 2013. Passed: February 27, 2015, Los Angeles, California, U.S.
Thinking about what he said about passing the torch to the Next Generation cast, it would've been awesome to see a Next Generation film where it featured a complete team-up with the two casts. The Generations film featured Kirk and Picard, but the team-up was only 30-45 minutes long (plus, I didn't really like the film that much anyway. I thought it was kind of a weak transition). There was also a few episodes of Next Generation, where the other original cast members were featured. I think it would've been nice to see a film where the plot involves the Next Generation Enterprise trying to peacefully intervene a conflict between two cultures (say the Cardassians and the Klingons), so they could prevent an intergalactic war. Meanwhile, the original Enterprise is on its way to a distant star system, but enter a timewarp where they end up in the future, and try to intervene with the conflict as well. Both crews, as well as the disputing cultures, are surprised that there are two Enterprises involved. The two crews then team up to figure how to prevent a possible war from happening. It would be nice to see Kirk working with Picard, McCoy working with Crusher, and Scotty working with La Forge. Because Data and Spock tend to use more logic when working, it'd be interesting to see them together as well.
Well I agree in principle, but because Roddenberry left, the third season was terrible. Had it continued into a fourth season (with Freiberger at the helm) it may have been worse. Star Trek was ahead of it's time, and needed to be absorbed into the public consciousness slowly in reruns before it finally registered. I mean, look at it now! It's unprecedented in its influence.
Roddenberry had a good reason for leaving the writing staff: his creativity and experience had earned him a promotion in the eyes of Paramount Pictures. And he had a better, as you probably know, reason for leaving his franchise altogether.

I noticed how many of these cast members talk fondly of the films, with the exception of Star Trek V, hence the very reason Undiscovered Country was made after the "Final" Frontier.
heard mr nimoy talk about growing up in Boston USA and the accent.. i wouldn't have known what that sounded like but he did an impression and it is familiar.. and i can hear it in some of his speaking here.. thankyou for sharing this.. 🙂 so he says goodbye, again.. and comes back for not only t.n.g. but Kelvin too? lol.. thank goodness!
he died quite some years ago. He lended his voice to some computer games. If he had lived he probably done more of that. Having him in star trek with pointy ears was risky the public thought they saw the devil.
Unless they secretly have written William Shatner into the sequel to the re-imagined film of 2009, which I doubt they have,.he is probably the last of the original crew who will appear in a STAR TREK film.
I really enjoyed all the farewell interviews, but they should have included Grace Whitney, she played some focused parts in several episodes and they brought her back in on the farewell voyage. I would have really liked to have heard her reflections.

Star trek 6 made a nice gesture to the TNG series: Khitomer, Worf's grandfather, talk of a better tomorrow, Kirk using Picard's 'no one' line, and talk of the next crew taking over. TOS was willing to accept TNG and welcomed them as part of the franchise....3 years later Generations slapped TOS in the face and screamed ''ONLY US FROM NOW ON!!'' and killed off a beloved character as the final bow. and so TNG (or the writers atleast) showed that TOS and TNG DON'T belong together. thanks Ricky.
Absolutely! They didn't even have the decency to let Kirk die on the bridge of his ship surrounded by his friends. They didn't even have the decency to bring him home for a burial with honors. I love Deep Space Nine and Voyager but I've never had any use for TNG. The way they killed Captain Kirk just confirmed my dislike.

My favorite of the Star Trek actors, followed by Nichelle Nichols. They just seem to be most intellectual and least pretentious in their assessment of their role, including DeForest Kelley (RIP).

There is such dignity and poise in Leonard Nimoy. It is very unique and compelling.
🌈 When Lenard died, an astronaut sent a picture of him making the Vulcan greeting with his hand on a ISS window and the earth below. So perfect.

Leonard Nimoy was a logical man. The universe lost something when it lost him. Sadness is an illogical human emotion, though. Live long, and prosper!
