@1bashidoblade it's a step price to pay for sweatshops. As a consumer if I am buying clothing at these prices I want better labor practices. The company advertises manufacturing items in Italy and Germany, if I recall correctly. This is such an issue for me that I returned the item. Sadly, you are right. It wasn't knit though, it was a polyester (yes, polyester) t shirt.
While I get the sentiment, Acne tends to selectively disclose made in ‘x’ for countries such as France and Italy while never really specifying other countries like China. (On their website at least, all clothes irl will have a ‘made in’ tag) But I also want to emphasis on the fact that not everything from China is made under bad conditions and/or of bad quality. Italy also has a serious history of having bad working conditions that often gets blindly overlooked because it’s the country of high fashion!! What’s important to look at when purchasing something is transparency rather than country of origin, Acne is relatively transparent with the origin of their fabrics and manufacturing in their sustainability reports. They still have a long way to go: I don’t think they publicly disclose their manufacturers and factories rn, but they do report incidents for example If u only wanna buy eu produced stuff I get it though
I agree with all your points. Somehow I have arrived at the conclusion that Acne Studios was made in Italy and France and Germany under ethical work conditions only. This is likely to their reluctance to disclose being made in China. I think they should lead with ethically made in China, if that is the case instead of leading with Italy and France... Would you please let me know then? Why brag so hard about "made in Italy" if Italy has become basically high fashion's "little china" in terms of exploitative labor conditions? I've read a lot of documentaries discussing what you said there about Italy. Why still brag about Italy? Please let me know your thoughts? @@1bashidoblade
@@OneOneThree-wl7mljust because it was made in china doesn’t mean sweatshop. The Chinese have changed over the years, causing some small companies to go elsewhere for manufacturing.
