I love this video with your mum. I have come back to it a few times to make this recipe. From a Scot, in Australia, also a mum of a lovely grown up son too. Best wishes.
I just made this for dinner in Malaysia on a rainy monsoon night. It turned out soooo yummy. Thank you for making all your recipes so simple, really helps to give confidence. Stay safe and keep up with your good work.
Donal, never mess with your mom (She knows better ;)), she could start her own food channel and give you run for your money.. She's looks great on camera and has an amazing witty personality! Loved her!
Lol, there were a couple times I thought Mom was going to wallop you! Gorgeous lady, really enjoyed her being in the kitchen with you, bring her on more often! Oh..and of course the goulash looked yummy!
I adore your mom!!! 💖 She reminds me so much of my own ... funny, sweet & quite obviously talented, as she has noted that she "taught you everything you know!" LMBO! 😄
I have fond memories of my mom and dad making this for dinner. I'm of Hungarian, German decent and all these foods are comfort foods for me. Thank you for doing this video and I absolutely love your mom. I hope to see her more.
Love your mom, she's so much fun! The hat and the comment about the potatoes were things my own mom might do, LOL! Also, I love the idea for dumplings.
I am literally just eating goulash while watching this :D Funnily enough, my mum made it for me and brought it by my flat this morning haha Lovely video :) Greetings from Austria!
What a delicious looking meal, I am definitely making this for my Sunday dinner next week-end ! Such a treat to see your mom helping out in the kitchen, thanks for sharing Donal :)
goulash is my favorite dish :) I'm from austria, and it's very common here, we eat it with all sorts of dumplings, but I like it best when it's served with polenta 😊
Wow this brings back memories! I'm half Hungarian and when I was younger my grandpa used to make goulash outdoors in a huge pot over an open fire. I'm making this recipe for dinner tonight, but I'll be using veggie "meat" instead, making my goulash all vegan! :) OMG DONAL, BTW! I THINK I'VE SEEN YOU ON SWEDISH TELEVISION, it's called "Mitt kök" ?!
A Hungarian here! :-) It warms my heart to you see you making my country's (probably) most well-known dish. & I am sure the dumplings only do good to it.
Omg I just got to the bit with your mum in the hat hahah!! Brilliant, although I must say, I've never seen a Hungarian mama in a hat like that before ;)
Oh how I miss seeing you and your lovely mam Liz in that Howth kitchen of yours... So many memories... The recipe looks really nice and wholesome, might be making it soon if the weather here in Switzerland doesn't spring up more. ;) You and your mum have great banter! Happy Mother's Day to Liz! xx
Awww! so nice to see you making a meal from my country! We usually make it more soupy and we don't put it in the oven, but it's an amazing alternative, I will try it next time! I loved the hat as well hahahah.
See, okay, I like seeing you on TV Donal, I really do....but it's videos like these where you goof around (with your mum!), where Max wanders in and out of the kitchen in the background, that I like far more. Never stop being you while making wonderful and delicious meals/desserts/whathaveyou!
Looks great. I'm 67 and my mom is 85. We still occasionally cook together. The interaction between your mom and you sounds a great deal like my mom and me. Mothers are always mothers. (And sons are always sons.)
Tanya Walker Donal's version looks like a pot of delicious, but there are a few differences between his goulash and Hungarian goulash. •Marjoram not oregano. Ground caraway seed. And sweet, not smoked paprika. The pasta traditionally served with goulash is a lot more like spaetzle, but shorter, though I think the dumplings he made would be deeeelicious with goulash. As far as proportion, for the amount of meat he used, there should be a lot more green pepper and a lot less canned tomato. Did he add carrots and parsnips? 'Cause goulash ideally should have both, but carrots at the very least. Son of a biscuit! Now I'm hungry!
Hey! I'm from Hungary! Your recipe is interesting, I have never had a Gulyás like this before. We make it as a soup not a stew with sweet paprika not smoked one. But I'm gonna try it for sure.
Thank you so much! I go to Keswick in the Lake District every year and there is a pub that has it but that is the only place that I have ever found it. Now I can make it myself 😁
I made the creamy chicken recipe that you made with your Mum the last time and quite honestly Donal, it was one of the tastiest chicken dishes I've ever made. But sure what else would I expect from an Irish Mammy (having one myself, lol). Great dish, I'll definitely give this one a go too. Hope you are settling in well in the States and the house hunt is going well. With the dodgy weather we are having here in Northern Ireland at the moment (snow last week....in March!), I'm nearly tempted to hop on a plane myself and go somewhere nice and warm, lol. Lee :)
I love this recipe. Anyone can tweak any recipe to their liking. I like how you do that. I get great ideas from your changes. Keep it up. No boring recipes here but even if there was it would still be mighty tasty and healthy. Thank you! :)
This is a delicious-looking interpretation of Hungarian goulash but this Magyar is not mad. 😊 Hungarians have an affinity for the Irish, and your mom is a charmer. Subscribing.
I am always amazed when people say, Austrian or Polish or whatever gulyás. Gulyás is a Hungarian word, meaning cowboy, so you can only have one type of Hungarian gulyás, which is a soup and does not have baby-head sized dumplings in it. The other versions I am sure just as delicious as gulyás soup is, but they have nothing to do with Hungarian gulyás soup.
Love the Mammy and the banter, nothing like an Irish Mammy. Great video and I agree, potatoes all the way lol. Although the dumplings do look interesting.
Yay, she's back!!! I would put the baked potatoes in the oven as well - a woman after my own heart. I loved the last recipe that you did with mammy skehan, so I'm definitely going to try this one. Thanks again, Donal.
*Ez a gulyás igazán jól néz ki és ízletes. Élveztem ezt a videót. Köszönöm. *Breathnaíonn do Goulash Ungárach taitneamhach. Cur i láthair deas freisin. Bhain mé taitneamh as breathnú ar do chuid físeáin Go raibh maith agat. *Your Goulash looks great! I loved the finished product as well. Looks splendid. Thank you.
Love the lovely banter between you and your mom! S'cute

Your mum is so awesome!! She's so quirky and bubbly in a good way xD
I have fond memories of my mom and dad making this for dinner. I'm of Hungarian, German decent and all these foods are comfort foods for me. Thank you for doing this video and I absolutely love your mom. I hope to see her more.
Lovely, Hey Donal you are a blessed son. God bless you both.

You and your mom look absolutely adorable together!
A Hungarian here! :-) It warms my heart to you see you making my country's (probably) most well-known dish. & I am sure the dumplings only do good to it.
it's beef stew with special dumplings though, not Gulyás..:)
Are u really Hungarian to even say that this is gulyas??!!! WTF?
+Donal Skehan your mama is adorable! The goulash looks delicious.
Made the hungarian goulash for sunday dinner my mum in law came out went down a storm my son loved the dumplingslove your recipes
Awesome, you should of had her on more often! You can tell you two really had fun making that video. Can wait to see your new set up in the states.
I'm Hungarian, and while that isn't an authentic recipe, I always love seeing people's interpretations of our dishes! Looks delish :)
Omg I just got to the bit with your mum in the hat hahah!! Brilliant, although I must say, I've never seen a Hungarian mama in a hat like that before ;)
You and your mom are cute. Love your smart comments to each other lol
Donal + His Mom = very entertaining material! His channel was already so good but his mom just adds a bit of spice (pun intended) to the video!
You seem to have grown up in a very good family and i'm glad about that :)
thank you, they're amazing :)
More with her please! More! Hahaha! The recipe was awesome by way! Save me buck loads going to restaurants just to have goulash 😋
This looks delicious and satisfying. Gotta try it.
Oh how I miss seeing you and your lovely mam Liz in that Howth kitchen of yours... So many memories... The recipe looks really nice and wholesome, might be making it soon if the weather here in Switzerland doesn't spring up more. ;) You and your mum have great banter! Happy Mother's Day to Liz! xx
Your mom is so cute. She reminds me of my mom when we're together in the Kitchen.
That looks amazing😻 I love you two together💕

Great winter warmer!
I'm hungarian. It looks tasty but that's definitely not hungarian goulash.
True
Amen
What is
..I want to know.
I thought so..I'll try to look for an original Hungerian recipe. I thought his mom was Hungerian.
No offence to uploaders.. Forgive me
Tanya Walker Donal's version looks like a pot of delicious, but there are a few differences between his goulash and Hungarian goulash.

Hey! I'm from Hungary!
Your recipe is interesting, I have never had a Gulyás like this before. We make it as a soup not a stew with sweet paprika not smoked one.
But I'm gonna try it for sure.
Yes the same, my dad made it as a soup too! That is how I make it and it always had a little kick to it!!! Much Love🥰
My understanding is that Gulyas is a soup. I grew up eating a stew dish like this, and my dad called it "porkolt".
@@JM-io4vb Pörkölt literally means stew in Hungarian and Yes Its similar to gulyás taste wise.
Thank you so much! I go to Keswick in the Lake District every year and there is a pub that has it but that is the only place that I have ever found it. Now I can make it myself 😁
Much more of your mom.She is pretty and you two make a cook cooking team with nice banter.
Happy Mum's Day to you, Mammy Skehan! Looks like you guys have a blast, hopefully you'll be over for a visit and can do an LA video! 😀
I made the creamy chicken recipe that you made with your Mum the last time and quite honestly Donal, it was one of the tastiest chicken dishes I've ever made. Haha..you and your Mom were so funny. Happy Mother's day to your lovely Mom :)
My mother was from Saalfeldeen Auatria. Goulash was a staple we ate....from 1959 to 2019....😁
your mom is very sweet.... Happy mothers day to her
I love this recipe. Anyone can tweak any recipe to their liking. I like how you do that. I get great ideas from your changes. Keep it up. No boring recipes here but even if there was it would still be mighty tasty and healthy. Thank you! :)
+fivelightsonahill thank you for watching :)
My favourite version , no matter what it it should be called !
thank you for your video. i am a chef from Indonesia, and sometime I like to Hungarian goulash.
This is a delicious-looking interpretation of Hungarian goulash but this Magyar is not mad. 😊 Hungarians have an affinity for the Irish, and your mom is a charmer. Subscribing.

Love the Mammy and the banter, nothing like an Irish Mammy. Great video and I agree, potatoes all the way lol. Although the dumplings do look interesting.
So cool to think Ireland's best chef on YT was shaped by her cooking!!
I love your mom! She's funny!
My mom is half Austrian so we ate a lot of goulash growing up :) The taste of childhood
made your goulash at work today. it was yummie. they loved it!
she is so sweet, felt like my mom
Greetings to your mom from Poland ;)
Briiliant recipe. I will do it for sure !
Yay, she's back!!! I would put the baked potatoes in the oven as well - a woman after my own heart. I loved the last recipe that you did with mammy skehan, so I'm definitely going to try this one. Thanks again, Donal.

I love her in the kitchen with you! She is a cool lady!
My mom also made a version of this when we were growing up - who knew Hungarian goulash was such a popular dish in Ireland?!
Damn, Donal's mom, back at it again with the beef goulash.
Mmmm I love goulash I'm defo gonna make this looks yummy. Once my morning sickness passes so I can enjoy it without throwing up lol
You are so cute, I am Hungarian but never mad Gulyás in the oven :) Must be delicious this version.
+Evil4Angel666 I think you are rude. Good luck for the very intelligent comments :)
Donal I've tried and it's so so good thank you
Loved this video featuring your mom! :D
+Rebecca H thank you
Love the Hat! I will try the Dumblins with my Gulash
I love how she said not to tell her how to cook because she taught him everything he knows.
