I have been scouring UA-cam for a loom design that I want to use, and finally came across your videos. As a result, I have watched almost your entire series. My plan is to weave 1m by 1.5m cloth panels to use for sewing hand made woven pullovers. I don’t know if I’ll ever weave these rugs, but after watching your videos, that is a real possibility.
Great to hear. Thank you so much for letting me know. One word of caution, if you were to weave a hand-knotted rug of that size (1m by 1.5 m), you would need a much sturdier loom. Same principle but bigger wood. This book does a great job of showing how to build bigger looms. I wanted you to have this information for later. Good luck to you! 🙏 An illustrated guide to making oriental rugs by Gordon W Scott
Hello, I just finished constructing this loom and getting all the other suggested weaving supplies together, and I’m very thankful for your instructions! If it’s okay to ask a question: Is this loom strong enough that you could weave small hand-knotted rugs on it, or does it strictly require one more similar to the loom you use in the hand-knotted rug videos (for example, one that has pins/nails for the warps instead of a steel bar)? I’d like to try my hand at both, and it’d be helpful to know if I would eventually need to upgrade for hand-knotted rugs. Thanks again!
Depending on how wide your planned rug is , you should be ok. As you well know the amount of pressure required to weave a hand-knotted rug is higher than the hand-woven rug. Try with 6-8 inches perhaps for the width and see how it does. Good luck.
Thank you so much for this video. I have a question: With the top rod system, is it possible to loosen it and pull down the rug so the back warps end up in the front, so that you can make a longer piece (double the length)? Or would you have to modify the construction of this loom to be able to do that?
Yes. If the warps are wrapped around the top rod correctly, you should be able to loosen it and then scroll so to speak. To be sure , test it out. Only wrap 10 warps and do a couple of rows. Then loosen the rod and move the front warps down. Good luck. 🙏

Would you need to put an extra board in the back for stability if you made a wider loom? This is wonderful. Thank you.
If you want to go wider, you may need to switch to a 2 by 6 piece of wood rather than a 2 by 4. It will help handle the pressure.
Thanks
You are more than welcome!
How do I find the Materials Section in UA-cam?

What is the full length of the top price of wood (A)?
It is 23 inches. You can find all the specs in a pdf file on this page: bofandeh.com/2021/04/10/how-to-weave-a-kilim-introduction/
