    0:37 I believe that a large percentage of Audi 2.0 engines have this same issue and people suffer quietly ….much like a drinking problem. That is why I did this video with this twist. It is unacceptable that Audi builds cars like this but if we don’t talk about it and share our experience we are the ones who will suffer the loss with Audi thinking everything is OK with their brand.

    Just purchased an immaculate’13 Q5 with full service records at 95,000 miles. Got the low oil light at 600 miles and another 600 miles after that. Also hoping Audi man’s up and provides some relief for those of us who still believe in their cars.

    I filed a small claims case against Volkswagen Group of America in North Carolina. I had the oil consumption test done at the dealer, failed, and they quoted me $6500 to replace the pistons. You all should look up Volkswagen Group of America in your states Secretary of State, file a small claims case and have their registered agent served. Good luck

    2014 Audi Q5. Love my car but just had to spend over $6000 to have all new exhaust valves replaced as one valve in cylinder 2, had a chunk burned out of it. While in for that work I went ahead and had the timing chain replaced for fear of potential stretching. This all happened at 109k mi. Unacceptable. My oil light comes on every 700 mi. After all this, I now smell burning oil after the engine gets hot (from normal driving). Audi needs to replace all these faulty pistons.

    I have a 2020 q5 with only 34k miles and my car is starting to experience oil loss. Took it to Audi and they found no oil leak but couldn’t explain why it happened. They just added oil free of charge and asked that I let them know if it happens again before my next service interval. Considering the low number of miles and no diagnosis of the issue, I don’t think I’ll be buying another Audi

    I have been having the same problem with my q5 for over a year now. It got so bad that I get an oil light every 300 miles. Ever since then, I have been changing my oil every 3-4k and using liquid moly engine flush. After using the liquid moly couple of times I was able to drive 800-1000 miles before the light came on. During the winter it dropped again back to 300 miles. I got annoyed so I took the spark plugs out and put some liquid moly into every spark plug and left it overnight. The next morning I cranked my engine to get rid of the extra fluid. I put back everything together and drove the car hard for about 10 minutes. I did the oil change but this time I decided to use diesel oil, Shell Rotella T6. I did some research and looks like a lot of people are using it and claiming it has good oil additive to keep your engine clean. After all that, I was able to get back to 1000 miles before the light came on. I'm still not satisfied with adding oil every 1000 miles. I'm thinking of adding Chemp dip into the spark plugs and see if it would help. I found some youtube videos of people doing that.

    Thanks for your video. My case: 2014 Volkswagen CC 2.0T Exec purchased new Feb 2015. Always maintained at official VW Dealer Service in NJ with oil changes at mentioned 10k miles intervals. This year in Jan at 83 k miles started noticing oil is being consumed too much. Engine oil test at VW done last week (mileage 88k miles now) shows 3.5 quarts being burnt in 1000 miles. Dealer to tell me the price of Scenario 1 (Engine and Turbo replacement) this week. If cost will be too high, will likely go with Scenario 2 (keep adding oil every 285 miles) and continue. In Scenario 2, dlr recommends to change oil every 2k or 3k miles now. Car is otherwise in very good condition. Not savvy in these things. Your opinions / advice is welcome.

    • @tepsterstips
      @tepsterstips  Рік тому

      Not sure why you need to change oil any faster than normal since you are already adding new/clean oil every 285 miles. My suggestion is to use a Liqui Moly SAE 5W-40 Synthetic motor oil. I also found that I get more miles before needing to add oil by adding Liqui Moly 300ml Viscoplus for oil between oil changes. It reduces oil consumption about 50% and improves compression through optimally flexible sealing. I also found one of my sparkplugs (#1 cylinder) had a lot of carbon build up and wet with oil. I believe that is the only cylinder that is having ring sticking problems. Every 3,000 miles I replace #1 cylinder spark plug so it will have a good spark. You can also clean it with a carbon remover or adding a fuel additive every 3,000 miles. There is really no reason to replace your engine ($12,000) with a new engine because the cost of the engine replacement is higher than the value of the car. A used/refurbished engine might be an option if you do the labor yourself however these engines cost $3-5K before labor. I would feed it oil, clean the spark plugs, and put an oil stabilizer in until the engine wont run anymore. Then decide if it is worth it to put in a rebuilt engine. That is what I have been doing for the last 45,000 miles. I will comment here when/if it dies.

    • @tepsterstips
      @tepsterstips  Рік тому +1

      I had my oil changed the first 75K miles by the Audi Dealer with their recommended synthetic oil. I changed the oil as per Audi's recommended schedule for the environment my car was in. That was 5K miles for the first oil change then every 10K . At 75K I changed to Liqui Moly 5W-40 Synthetic oil as I read it my help. It did a little however I think it was mostly because it was a slightly heavier oil vs(5W-30W) the dealer had been putting in. That is the oil I am using now. I am doing some test with other Liqui Moly products: Engine Flush, Viscoplus to see if this helps however I have little hope. I will have another video how these flush and additive worked for oil consumption. Results are not in yet.

      Success! I am in the middle of my driving test after using Berryman B12. So far I have traveled 900 miles and my oil gage says 1/4 left of oil before I need to add another quart of oil. I expect to get at least 1000 miles before an needing to add a quart of oil. Bottomline: My time between oil went from 250 miles to 1000+ miles with this soak! I will have a video on this as soon as my car alarms me for another quart. I belive I might need to do it again since Berryman B12 has cleared much of the clogged carbon in my oil rings however there seems to be a little more carbon left. However 1000 miles between oil change is a success and I could live with that too.

    Bought used Audi Q5 2013 2L in 2021 with 83K km. I add oil periodically, about half a liter of oil every 1K km. My car now has 108K km and is due for an oil change at 110K km. We plan to keep this car for no more than two years as we bought it for One for One Replacement Scheme in HK. Scrap our ICE for a new EV and the Government will waive the Import tax which is around 110% in HK

      @robocop581 This is an interesting proposition. Import a inexpensive used Audi that has an oil consumption issue and then in 2 years replacing it with an EV to save on HK import tax. Since the Audi may be sold at a much lower price, especially if the oil consumption is known, you can still drive it for a couple of years before replacing it and save a huge amount of import tax
