The only modern ebonite feeds I own are those on my Optimas. I have the feeling that a plastic feed could not keep up with the inkflow that a true flexible nib requires.
Question for Q&A 146: In your opinion Brian (and whom ever you may being doing the video with..."cough Rachel"...) who at Goulet pens has the nicest or coolest looking handwriting
That's a good question. I think our Media Team is pretty strong. If you follow us on social media, we produce a lot of that written content that goes out. Jessica in our Customer Care team can write in Japanese, at least a few characters, so that's neat. But I added this to our Q&A spreadsheet so Brian can give his answer, thanks! - Colin
i usually use the vapor heat of my espresso coffee machine ,to adjust the space between the nib and the feed , even in plastic I had very good results , ebonite is easier to manage
Hold on a second! Is Drew wearing a Seiko Discus!? Ref. SCBS007? As a fellow watch enthusiast I'm going to have to keep a eye on what watches Drew wears 👍🏽😆
I don't know if the fat that they come with ebonite feeds has anything to do with it, but my favourite modern fountain pens are the Auroras, which all come with ebonite feeds. Montblancs, Pelikans, and Pilots would come after, in no particular order.
What I really want to understand is why cheap indian pens all have them like Noodler's an on FPR, even $5 pens, but Wancher charges you $50 extra to get it in the dream pen instead of this superior material being the standard on all pens, period. Why do we see plastic on Mont Blanc and Pelikan high ends and Ebonite on Kanwrite and Noodler's? It's so annoying.
I think it would be the same problem as with plastic in that they are not hygroscopic like ebonite, they are hydrophobic (technically glass is hygroscopic but it depends on the coating and other factors which generally make it more hydrophobic for this propose). Also glass is brittle and would probably shatter if you dropped your pen.
The rapport between the two speakers here is appreciable and enjoyable.
Also, Some of Fountain Pen Revolution pens have ebonite feeds.

I liked the cast iron skillet analogy

are modern high end pens form Montblanc for example ebonite or plastic??
plastic
I know it's probably a better question for the Q&A, but what blue ink did you guys use to make the Goulet Splat?
We used Diamine Presidential Blue originally, but we also edited the color a bit so it really looks more like Noodler's Liberty's Elysium now. - Colin
Justin Baker Brian once said it was Diamine Majestic Blue
"Nailed it." LOL. I love you guys.
instaBlaster.
Cast iron is "seasoned."
Are all ebonite feeds the same size for all fountain pens?
no. nibs come in many sizes.

I have a question: So the Noodler's Konrad fountain pens have ebonite feeds as well?
Yes they do! All Noodler's pens come with an ebonite feed. - Colin

Indian pens are great value
ok, I gotta know... the framed sign on the bookshelf: Work hard, be honest, and be _____________?
Scotty B I believe it says "be flexible", but I wouldn't trust my memory that much.
Yeah, 'Be Flexible' one our company values! - Colin
TY. I can sleep now.
‘Be Edible”
Works for me…
Are the TWSBI feeds ebonite?
No
Instead of plastic or ebonite feed, why not we can have hardened glass feed? ( Maybe silly question, #Just came to my mind. #RandomThoughts)
