Hello. My name is Rickey Hughes. I have a business in bookkeeping and accounting. It is a small business, as well as a home based business. I have just watched your video on how to get more clients for my business. I believe if I try to do what you said in the video, I will be able to get more clients. Right now, I don't have too many clients; and so far, my business has not been too successful. That's why I am responding to you, right now, in reference to the video I have just seen. May I hear from you, so I can get more ideas on how to get more clients and grow my business? I will be more than glad to hear from you. I am interested in this. Please let me know how you can help me out with this. I would more than appreciate it. Thank you so much. I look forward to hearing from you.
Hi @rickeyhughes1784 I'm glad you found my video content helpful. I have a few questions for you. Have you selected the industry or type of business you would like to provide your bookkeeping services to? What method of outreach have you tried to get clients? and how often are you working to get leads to convert to clients? I have several free UA-cam videos in my channel of ways to get your first or next bookkeeping client you may want to check out, as well as a resource with 1000 bookkeeping niches bookkeepers can choose from and the reasons you should consider niching/focusing on a specifc industry. www.veronicasagastume.com/1000niches
Thank you so much Veronica what a great video. Please, a video about the difference between a contractor and a bookkeeper and how to pitch your service would be very helpful
Hi Yvonne, thank you, I'm thrilled you like the video. I am recording a video later this month about the difference between an Employee (bookkeeper) and a 1099 contractor/consultant/freelancer. I believe is may be coming out at the end of August, so good timing!
Hi! I'm glad you found the video helpful. Be on the lookout for future videos and resources, we're busy preparing new content and updating resources for you.
So happy to hear you found it helpful @vilmareynoso7343. Did you pick up my resource to Nurture Your Network? www.thebookkeepingshop.com/resources It's a Free Guide to NURTURE YOUR NETWORK to find your first or next bookkeeping client.
Hi Becky, so happy you liked the video. I like your topic suggestions, those are great for two different videos. I'll add those to the list, coming your way soon. Possibly lookout for them in June or earlier. Question for you: do you been the difference between hiring a contractor bookkeeper vs a bookkeeper on the payroll (in-house)?
I quit my job and then they asked me to be a consultant for them until they hired a new person! I then realized I wanted to be a bookkeeper for myself, so here I am !
@vilmareynoso7343 you did one of the best strategies I recommend when finding your first bookkeeping client...you converted your last employer into your first paying client, well done! Happy to help in any way.
Hello, Veronica. Appreciate your video and this free resource. I heard a couple people say it’s best to attempt to land the first client while doing the studies to complete the bookkeeping course since it takes 30 (-60 days?) to obtain the first client. What do you think? It’s ok to do the studies while simultaneously going after the first client? I’m about to begin my course.
You can absolutely start to offer services while studying. I would recommend you start by offering some vary basic and simple services you will feel comfortable and confident in offering. You can start small offering some basic services and build up as you get more experience, skills and knowledge
Hi V! Do you have a video out on the difference between an independent contractor and an employee? I’d love to be able to mention those highlights when talking to former employers!
Hi @SummerFelker yes, I'm actually working on creating that video to be published in September. There are quite a few things to consider so I may have to break it up into a two part series, but it's coming later in September, thank you or the suggestion. I'm assuming you mean the difference between a bookkeeper employee vs a bookkeeper independent contractor correct?

i cannot take customer from last employer. they always make me sign a paper I cannot do this. but your cideos are very informative. i see them. now a days, employers do not want to train new bookkeepers. I have been hired and fired 4 times by now. they want experoenced right at the beginning. So I kind of forced to become self employed.
@nzabeen, where are you located? You may want to try to work for a remote bookkeeping firm that allows you to work from anywhere while getting experience...look for bigger firms that would have a training and allow new bookkeepers to join their team. It may require you to reach out to them and inquire about a position if you still want to work for a firm where you can get experience from for a while to gain experience.
@@TheBookkeepingShop I get inspiration from you. I live in Hamilton city, Ontario province,Canada. This area is dead for accounting I believe. That's why I am facing same consequence again n again. Would you be able to tell me a few accounting firms that provide training and big enough to accomodate large number of employees? also remote working facility? To gain more experience or skill, I am enrolled in a bookkeeping certification course now 8 months long. So at least I have the skill. In Past, I had an accounting diploma that only covered generalised accounting knowledge but no hands on accounting skill and software skills, no skill for filing taxes and othet items.

Never work for free, your time is precious. Price yourself low if you want to, $15 an hour or something, but don't work for free. Doing this screams desperation to the client, which is often a big turn off. You're worth more than free.
Hi @mursaleenkhan5555 I agree with @PretendCoding, never work for free. In the US we have paid internships which often can convert to a permanent paid position.
Hi @nzabeen, finding clients is a challenge many new bookkeepers or bookkeeping business owners face. I do believe that your first bookkeeping client is usually in your network (contacts). Have you put a communication together to let people in your circle know of what you're doing, what you offer, the type of client you're looking for? Start with focusing on getting warm leads (your network) and work on communicating with them to focus on getting one client in the next 30 days. Have you grabbed my resource (free) 'Nurture Your Network'? it gives you a guideline and email scripts you can customize to reach out.
@@TheBookkeepingShop i will do that. Thanks a lot! The reason I decided to become self employee is the dirty politics of accounting employers now a days.
