I watch Japanese horse racing on Twinspires and I didn't know how to Handicap bc they don't do it like we do. But they have some good races. They use the same horses in different races through the night.. so does Australia.. lots of countries..
Sierra Leone and Forever Young closed into that slow pace. Beasts. Too bad they cost each other the race playing bumper cars.
Pace was not slow. Sub 23 and 46 and change 111 for 1 1/4 is not slow. Especially for 3 year Olds on that track. So many of you think you know racing but you don't
Apologies, it wasn't "slow".. but it wasn't fast by any means. It would have been entirely reasonable for any of the frontrunners to win with that pace... but as we know, Fierceness spit the bit on the far turn and Just Steel/Track Phantom probably don't want to go 9-10F. Mystik Dan, once again, got the golden rail in a breathtaking move from Hernandez. I still think both Sierra Leone and Forever Young would have been ahead of him if they weren't bumping.
I was laughing my butt off at this outcome. Great Race! 'Mysticism' was in the air, and I knew the various favorites would not win. For all the stat geeks out there... question: How often has a trainer had his colt AND filly win the Derby and the Oaks in the same year? McPeek's 150th x 2! Mass props, Kenny.
I realize that gamblers might have a different take than I do. 😏
I was too. I said "Brian!!!!, your mucking things up again!!!!!".. but less lady like word. But he is so nice is press conferences and interviews it's hard to stay mad. He seems like a genuinely good human being!
3 horse trip was 10 lengths shorter than Sierra Leon. SL fig come back 2 points better than Dan.
It truly is as "The Coach" says: "It's not how fast you're going; it's HOW you're going fast." And where, obviously. There was so much pre-race talk about how the rail was not where you wanted to be. Oopsie.

I had 2,11 ex , 2, 11, 4. Tri.. 2,11 4, and 12.. I tried punching in 3,2,11 ex. and a few more and I was out of funds" I literally have to give my debit card to someone bc I will overspend. I had already got into an argument with that person wanting more money earlier in the day bc my one of my pick 5 was out the door. And I said" no matter what do not give it back". Sigh. I wish I would have fought harder for the Derby race. But oh well. This person still doesn't know how much I have spent and lost. They just enjoy the winnings when they arrive by mail.

Except I knew Fierceness wasn't going to win..and I had a feeling Sierra wouldn't.. but definitely not 17.. I like him too. It was an exciting day. Except I'm very down . This is a RISK sport . And it's no one's fault but the person betting. So don't listen to hate if u get it . Jesus Christ was surprised.. jk. Love y'all
I'm happy for mystic Dan.. McPeek and Brian.. somewhere on UA-cam. I have written. " I have a feeling this year is going to be an Asmussen year or McPeek year.. ".. Really thinking Asmussen.. but We got both Oaks and Derby by McPeek..
His Dad died.. or father in law.. read about it.. I'm not sure exactly..( I think he was in the horse world ".. but that makes sense Mystic Dan won.. I'm very spiritual and I believe in that.. Just like the Horse Frankel. Named after Bobby Frankel.. weird..

@@bnegs521 My gut said Asmussen or McPeek. I just knew it wasn't going to be Cox, Fletcher or Brown. I think Asmussen has some good horses. I think OAKLAWN is a very hard track to Handicap for me it is. Most tracks I can figure out the exacta very easily and with OAKLAWN, my method doesn't work. About the only track it doesn't work.. unless a long shot comes in every now and then but I usually can find those mathematically. Not at OAKLAWN. Well it must have been an Arkansas vibe I got. Bc I said that months ago. I'm happy for McPeek and Hernandez. They seem like genuinely nice human beings. They seem like they put the Horse first, the way it should be. I haven't heard much Trainers talk about it being about the horse and following up by actions. Anyway. I hope everyone had a great weekend. And lots of storms and tornadoes today. I hope everyone is safe. I always think about horses .. especially these ones. Hope they are all safe as well. Sincerely. ❤️
Forever young won both the Saudi and Dubai.. I think he is the best Japanese we have seen.. they probably didnt want to complain.. but TO PASSWORD is bad ass too.. TO PASSWORD HAD A RELATIVE.. racing on Thursday I think.. and He didn't win.. but he set the pace . His name was TO. something.. anyway. Im serious about Baths.. it fks with their moods.
Mathematically.. some of these races.. the winners on a few. Including the derby.. don't have the data to back up what they did.. no one could have predicted it
Irad on his mounts does way worse than Sierra Leone and Gaffione. Sierra Leone and Forever Young are the ones to watch going forward - and even wimp Fierceness - Muth may even take him down. I will never toss Fierceness but he had NO EXCUSE!
I had 2 11 and 4.. exacta. Trifecta.
Best Jockey didn't win.. Best Trainer didn't.. my opinion.. This is how the Derby is.. whoever we think it's going to be before the race it never is .. Very rare we really know.. and then it's not as exciting.. I had 12 on my superfecta.. ..I just said
." Mystic Dan doesn't have mud in his face.. he must not think he will get a 2nd bath!" LMAO. The baths are so cringe.. I would be that person to say something to the person bathing the horse..if they put me in my place.. ok. But it surprises me people just stand back as if it's normal what were all watching... And on video.. sorry I'm going on and on
But I think bath time before race time needs to stop.
Dudes! Forever Young cutoff Sierra Leone on turn - Sierra Leone lost momentum- then Forever Young drew first blood by coming out on Sierra Leone down the stretch - and Sierra Leone came in like he does. Randy Moss was biased bc his narrative was all about the Japanese coming hard. Jerry Bailey was right on - Forever Young gave as good as he got! Fair race. You guys are just covering for Somich. Smaller field Sierra Leone wins - Forever Young is legit. Mystic Dan was untouched - perfect trip. So funny that Fierceness chokes w a near perfect trip!

Mmmmm I have been wanting to puke. Every time I get ready to hit a pick 4 or 5 and Wild card who never won first place won today screwing my whole ticket up .
I have a theory.. You might think I'm nuts.. but I didn't know they bathed these horses BEFORE THEY brought them over to run. Well after I heard that.. I said " Fierceness and Sierra hate their baths., I mean they tolerate them but they LOOK MISERABLE!". WHAT MISERABLE HORSE IS GOING TO DO ANYTHING 100 PERCENT?". I haven't seen Mystic Dans bath.. so that tells me he must not GET WATER IN HIS EYES.. AND ROUGH HANDLED.. " I had ,2,11,4 ex and trifecta.. I love them all .but Im down. Mystic Dan I picked him at OAKLAWN bc of track conditions.. and he won there.. the Angle here Oaks Trainer and Jockey winner. Hasn't happened since 1952.. These owners need to watch footage of bath time.. Animal behavioral cues.. They don't enjoy them..the ones I have seen.. why before the RACE?! I AM SICK AND DOWN $3500 PLUS OVER PAST 3 DAYS.. UGH.
