2002 Silverado 2500HD 6.0 - Headers, No Cats With X-pipe & Carven R Exhaust

    - Carven R Performance Muffler
    - Cherrybomb resonators
    - Amazon X-Pipe
    - Flowtech shorty headers
    Added the X-pipe recently to help out with the back pressure and also some drone. Inside the cab the drone was a bit annoying and after adding the X-Pipe under the passenger side front portion of the cab I noticed a big difference in the sound. I no longer have the “popping” sound while driving or “raspy” sound throughout the RPMs. The sound is still aggressive but a bit more subtle and definitely more tolerable while driving around town.
    I may change the set up again, but for now I’m pretty happy with the sound! Hopefully everyone enjoys the small clips I was able to take.
    If anyone wants more clips of the sounds let me know and I’ll be glad to put another video together.

      Awsome wheel combo, I need this set up for my 2002 2500hd silverado 4x4 w/factory lift, which is kind of pretty high already for minor flood waters living down here in the south! May I ask you about the name, brand, and selection that you went with? These are looking like the wheels I'm willing to swap out my stock set up with! Please send any info on your wheels if possible! @@sidneymeyer9014 I definitely like them a lot! I did have to do some trimming on my front bumper and also had to do what people call the “nor-cal” mod. If you look that up you’ll see what you have to cut/notch in order for the tire not to hit the inside of the fender.
      They’re Method 315 Wheels. 17x8.5 with Toyo M/T tires 35x12.50R17
      If you’re not wanting to do much cutting, you can do a 33x12.50 and possibly just need to cut the front bumper slightly so the tire doesn’t rub. Hope this helps!

      The 99-07 Classic is my favorite era for the Silverado. Its a toss up for me between the “bubble eye” and the “cat eye” on which one is my actual favorite, but I think the 03-07 classic definitely had a few “modern” upgrades in comparison to the 99-02. How long have you had the MSD coil packs? I’ve always wondered if they were worth the money, but could never find any data logging or reviews on them. You have my favorite wheels! Lol I’ve been looking for a set for a while but when I find them I don’t have the funds and when I have the funds I can’t find a decent pair lol I’m sure you know how that goes. I got the 2007 chevy 2500hd 6.0 gas burnner and man for a long wheel base ots a burn lut contest monster on skid pads cause its sp light being a long wheelbase meaning the rear end is very light. Also it will run mid 11s in 1/4 mile. The vortec based motors is nothing to stick your bose ip at kist cause kts not a diesel. If you was to build a diesel engine 2500 hd to run mid 11s would cost doible of not tripple of what cost of making the 6
    6.0 gas burner and the gas burner 6.0 will have twice the amount of power for the same price you would spend on the Diesel.

    Nice, I like the setup. I have an 06 2500HD and want to do something similar, but with dual exits. I've currently got 3" all the way back, with stock cats, and a flowmaster muffler. How do you get around carb with the EGR and Cat delete?

    • @jonathanorona7493
      @jonathanorona7493  2 роки тому

      Thank you! A few people have told me about doing the same thing with dual exit, especially since the truck is already true dual so I’ve been debating if I should do it or not. I’m leaning towards keeping it single outlet but changing the muffler to something else.
      Nice! I had the same set up on my suburban and I loved the way it sounded like that, kinda miss that sound too! As far as carb goes, I haven’t figured that out just yet. The truck was already smogged prior to the install of everything so I’ll have to figure that out.

    • @fallenyolo
      @fallenyolo 2 роки тому

      @@jonathanorona7493 Yeah, I'd definitely keep that in mind when it comes time to smog it. Emission laws here are strict asf. As is, you probably wouldn't pass a visual test and I'm not sure about the sniffer, but It's possible It wouldn't pass that either. I've heard from people on the forums you can hollow out the stock cats to pass the visual. I've also heard you can get away with mild cams and ports. So long as you have a good tune It'll pass the sniffer. The visual Is important tho. It's pretty wild, even having a cold air intake requires one of those CARB stickers or an EO number.

      @jonathanorona7493  2 роки тому

      @@fallenyolo Yeah they’re definitely very strict. I agree about it not passing visual, and at this point I’m pretty certain it wouldn’t pass the tailpipe emissions test either. Good think is I have some time to ponder what I’ll do. Most likely just put the stock components back on prior to smog.

      There isn't a cam that increases usable "work truck" power on the 6.0. Any cam he puts in he'll have to spin more RPM to notice any appreciable gain and will lose tq down low where it counts for a truck that does truck things. Unless he wants to put a convertor in it a spin more RPM and turn it into a toy.

    • @jonathanorona7493

      I have Flowtech shorty headers and 2.5” piping (no cats) into the x-pipe then into resonators out into a dual 2.5” inlet single 3” outlet. I would say the xpipe wasn’t necessary. I only tried it because I could never find any good videos on different exhaust set ups for the truck or body style. I think now that I’ve had it, I would probably do the 2.5” piping without the x-pipe and just have the resonators into the muffler.
