- Elden Ring features numerous mini-dungeons like caves and catacombs to explore alongside giant sprawling dungeon crawls like Stormveil Castle. Castle Mourne, nestled in southern Limgrave on the Weeping Penninsula, is a place where horrors abound. Chimeric leonine creatures and other surprises await the player should they dare approach. While this locale would fall into the mini-dungeon classification, it's substantially larger than any of the minor offerings that I experiences during my 10-hours of gameplay, with a dangerous approach and several checkpoints.

I love how good the transition into the different areas is. From Open World with horses and fast travel into classic Dark Souls level design on foot.
I always liked the idea of a towering Fort that one can ascent in these games

It looks so good. As soon as I saw the interior with the corpses leading to a massive pile of them burning all I could think of is exploring everything and finding out what happened/is happening. Idk, it just looks so authentic if that makes sense.

I'm personally very excited about the presence of enemy in-fighting here. We've seen it used occasionally in other From games, but given the lore of Elden ring we already know, there's a lot that could be done with it.
I doubt it. They'll most likely just play around with each other not killing or losing. Just a constant background "thing" where you'd end up fighting both just to make the fight go quicker.
@@Kronos0999 DS3 and Sekiro definitely had events where enemies were killing each other. The ones that come to mind are the Darkwraiths vs Ghrus in Farron Keep and the Invasion of Ashina Castle.

@@Pjj878 You can lure enemies from the Internal Ministry/Ashina clan to the other and they'll fight each other.
It's going to be like the darkwraiths were in 3 to the Ghru. They have a set aggro path and always path that way. It's not exactly cool the second or third time you see it.
Those precise ladder climbing movements. Man was not worried about his shins at all 😆 looks really good though. That giant kill! 😱

This area reminded me of a lot of things from previous games:
The half-ruined square courtyard brought back memories of the area in the Shrine of Storms where the Vanguard demon was.(DeS)
The interior of the Castle reminded me of the Boletarian palace (DeS)
This moment, right here 2:38 reminded me the battles that were happening in the Memories of Giants (DS2)
The last area (the beach) reminded me of the Ash Lake in DS as well as the Fishing Hamlet in BB.
The animations of the boss were very similar to Gael (DS3)
Elden Ring really feels like the culmination of all the previous games and I love that about it.

This is how games should be made. We see their attention to details and the time they put in. And we all appreciate it to no ends...

Same riposte animations since DS3, adding jump mechanic, a few trees and stoney big empty locations are definitely not ''attention to detail'', lazy ass developers keep squishing old garbage engine, this game has almost nothing neither new nor different even if compared to prev souls games.

I like how the enemy's are fighting each other; makes me wonder if we can get the enemies to hit one another and cause in-fighting similar to the classic Doom games lol
I LOVE how interactive they're making the giant enemy fights. Of course you'd kill a giant hulking mechanism by hitting it in the chest after knocking it down, not just hacking at their ankles.

I remember 3 years ago when this game had an announcement trailer and then just acted like it didn't even exist. Like after the trailer dropped it just went silent for a very long time... This game used to be nothing but a myth, just a fantasy or fairy tale for the average Dark Souls player and now look at us... I can't believe it's actually only a few weeks away now.

I am just amazed how From despite making an open world managed to make the areas densely packed with detail. The moment the guy entered the elevator it truly felt like Dark souls again.

@@notevenclose5656 if you look closely enough, the slash was diagonal, and barely missed the character because of the jump ( I'm not making this up you can check frame by frame), the hitbox is actually so precise.

Yeah! It’s super interesting. Stuff like posture and guard counters feel like they simultaneously encourage defensive and aggressive play. It really does take the best parts of Dark Souls and Bloodborne’s playstyles-with some Sekiro mechanics thrown in, as a treat
@@karabirb it really is an amalgamation of all of them I can tell that all those yrs in the oven paid off they really tweaked everything just right with the combat

I have 336 hours of play on dark souls 3. Its the only game which handled me that much since years . The only game i played more than that was probably Skyrim 11 years ago. I'm so excited for Elden Ring, i think i'll buy a big TV only to enjoy it at it fullest

It's so strange to see a bright boss battlefield in a From game with the souls formula. It's a nice change of atmosphere
I kinda wanna mention Dark Souls II regarding this but this would probably start an entirely different debate
@@DomseArts that's true... I honestly think of Dark Souls II being a souls game in the same way Mortal Shell is a souls game. Without the same director and team developing it, it had a different direction when it came to character developments and plot, but most of all its art direction is fairly unique as far as the trilogy goes; Majula being the earliest and most obvious change as a hub center with its bright colors. I love Majula btw

It does indeed. Sadly, not everyone understands that art direction is much more important than graphical fidelity.
They simply don't understand how from software works, they think flashy graphics define a next gen game, instead of having actual substance. Shameful honestly
Seeing people care about the graphics over the other objectively more important components (art direction, gameplay, level design, sound design, music and so on) is just sad and really shows that the philosophy of presentation first (I am looking at you PS exclusives) is just not the right direction.
It does look gorgeous but it is certainly a downgrade compared to the demon souls remake. That's the reason why most people complain i think. Still the downgrade is understandable considering how big this game is.
@@JcHellspawn well it’s also not made by fromsoft. Fromsoft has never focused on graphics instead they focus on gameplay quality. A much better detail than graphics imo.

At 3:18 when he kills the chimera guy, the sword disintegrate into gold dust and it flows into him.
thats a great detail to spot! it helps prevent wonky looking collision and weapons too big to be held prine, from looking cartoonish :D also asset cleanup for rendering~

@@waltuh11121 a chimera is an animal made out of body parts from several other animals the most famous examples being the king chimera which has a goat head a second lion head a lion body and a snake tail. The second most famous is the griffin with the wings and head of a peregrine falcon, hawk, or eagle and the body of a lion

1. Npc battles thats amazing I love watching npcs fighting
2. If any of you remember the contest vatii did for the bosses their was a boss that was this weird horse one and the environment and part of the visuals of that boss match very closely to the contest

Oh my! The jump implications are more massive than I thought. Something so small as not being able to reach a downed enemy's riposte spot in time to deal massive damage because their limbs are in your way are going to be a thing of the past!

I think this was ran on one of game informers monster pcs so even on ps5/series x will look worse and base consoles will be fuzzy. Thats probably why folk are complaining.

Linear design provided a lot of insight to the world-building it was very detailed, the main problem with open-world games is that it takes a lot of development time to fill it to the point of being enjoyble to explore it.

Castle area reminded me of one of the Giant's memories from dark souls 2. They say it can be done in 30 hours, but imagine how long for 100% accomplishment

@@mysteriouscharacter6452 Its just strange coming from one of the best looking games on the market right now back to this late PS3/early PS4 graphics. These games are very successful, they could put some effort into the graphics.
@@TheMusic4Soul They did. Looks ways better than Dark Souls 3. They did also win game of the year recently with Sekiro. Graphics have reached a certain point. The humans actually look like humans. Stop being pessimistic.

I love how the person controlling the camera quickly turns away at around 3:23 because part of the level geometry hasn't loaded in and theres just objects floating in space lol
dude i swear to god capes in this game are gonna be the death of me, i absolutely LOVE armor pieces with capes, seems ill finally have a nice variety to choose from and look fabulous as hell, thank you from software T_T
Notice how it's already guaranteed GOTY in virtually everyone's mind. That's just common sense at this point.
I love the FromSoft developers. They don't try anything too crazy or try and venture into unknown territories. They stick to what works and what the fans like and improve on it

Wow this game looks cool. It looks like a game. It's not trying to oversell itself. Or bloat itself with conveluded mechanics. Just open world dark souls. Exactly what the players want with all heart and dare I say "souls" poured into it. Seeping through every crevice of the castles every orifice of the enemies and every nook and cranny of the open world is the thought out genre defining lore!
Fromsoftware is the problem ! After them we can’t enjoy a simple adventure game anymore

I never played any souls games before and I saw elden ring was getting a lot of hype so I'm like okay let's see what this is about. I got demons souls remake for PS5 and I am absolutely obsessed it's the most rage inducing but at the same time fun and relaxing game I've ever played and to my knowledge there's other souls games even better. I actually can't wait for this game to come out.
My situation is the exact same as yours. Saw Elden ring trailers and news, got Demons souls PS5, and am now a huge fan of the souls games

Try out blood borne it’s free for ps5 users with ps plus beat it the other day. Am gonna get and finish demon souls jus before Elden ring comes out.
I am so excited for this! Everything looks so polished and detailed. This looks like one of those games were you get lost for hours exploring the world. I haven't been this excited for a game release since fuckin Skyrim lol.
