- At the start of 2020 Damon Albarn started creating a solo-record full of hints to isolation. And then Covid came. A coincidence? It’s almost impossible. Everything Damon Albarn has done has this foreseeing element. Or how he puts it: ‘I don’t write songs about now, I write songs about the future.’
We had an extensive conversation with the man behind Blur and Gorillaz about Brexit and the climate crisis. How he nourishes on the sources of pop music and how traveling will always be his biggest inspiration. Even when it’s impossible to travel. ‘I swam as far as I could into the sea. In a way that’s also traveling.’

I love you Damon, you are so genius as an artist, but also very articulated and aware as a human being. Never stop.
This is an excellent interview, covered some very interesting stuff and the interviewer wasn’t afraid to ask questions he wanted to.

@@Lilly-ve8ze So I messaged his bodyguards wife (bodyguards name is smoggy) and she wrote this to me verbatim in 2011:
“The answer to your question - Smog said The necklace Damon wore was made by his mom when he was very young. Damon no longer wears his necklace he gave some of the beads to his god daughte rOlivia who is actualy our daugher and beads live on in the form of a necklace made by Smog for her. Smog has has his bead necklace since the 80’s and was custom made by himself ! x x”
So, is this really the answer? It’s the first question I’d be asking him in an interview. I’ve been wearing a similar style beaded necklace since 2009.

With how he's so outspoken about enviromental issues - even to the point where he made an entire album about said issues - it's pretty surprising that he hasn't become a full blown activist.

Loved Parklife (the album) but Damon Albarn always strikes me as someone who would annoy me fairly quickly. And I’m sure vice versa. 🤩
definitely. it's well documented that he's an assertive, opinionated person that can easily get on people's nerves. I think that this interviewer did a bad job interviewing Damon though. Damon was obviously in a relaxed, philosophical mood and the interviewer refused to match his tone. Instead the interviewer was very quick with his comments and kinda tried to talk over Damon (big mistake). I believe a more mature interviewer would have matched Damon's tone and simply asked questions and let Damon answer.

Wow.... My trees have all there leaves off. Just the same as every year I've been alive for nearly 38 years. Also the beach front I live by... It's water level is exactly the same.
