I'm wanting to use my old quick disconnect from my air conditioner to hook up my jacuzzi tub how can I tell if that outlet is still live I looked in the breaker box and I don't see any trips but I hooked it up and I'm not getting anything and I'm not even sure it works but if I'm not getting electric it ain't going to work for sure what can I hook to this to see if my electric is alive I've got a very cheap multimeter and it doesn't have a setting it will blow it up I'm sure
How do you do these tests if your power points are not located on the main switch board? Physically how do you do the tests with a multimeter when the multimeter leads are 1m long at best but the powerpoints could be 10m away? Thanks
You use what’s called a trailing lead which is basically just a massive extension of one of the leads. Make sure to zero your meter as it will pick up the added resistance of the lead due to the length 👍
do you understand what I`m getting at? the guy is a champion
Steve helped me so much. What a legend. I hope he is doing well.
This is mint. After a few months of not doing these duties I do forget parts of it. Nice refresher 👍
A refresh is always a good idea
How can you forget?! This should be common knowledge in fault finding. So get it; others don't!
Take a shot everytime you hear "you understand what I'm getting at? "
I categorically understand what you're getting at.
Excellent Teacher
