Roms 8-16 The Spirit itself bears witness with our spirit that we are the children of God. a) V16 does not say the Holy Spirit. b) V16 says; The Spirit itself bears witness. c) This is also incorrectly translated. d) V16 should read like this... The spirit itself bears witness with our spirit that we are the children of God. e) The word spirit should not be capitalized. f) Context is crucial to interpreting scripture. g) In the old covenant; participating in the religious rituals of the law and the sacrifices was the evidence/ the witness among the Jewish community that a person was a child of God; now in the new covenant the Jewish people do not practice these religious rituals; so there was no longer visible evidence that anyone was a child of God. h) The phrase; OUR SPIRIT is referring to the combined attitude of people who were now following God in Christ... Hence the phrase.. OUR SPIRIT. I) For example; If a new convert from the old covenant people should start to follow God in Christ; the phrase the spirit itself is referring to the attitude of that new convert, bears witness with the combined spirit of other believers in Christ; and this is called; *OUR SPIRIT.* m) It's now, ones behaviour that is the evidence that one is a child of God. n) 1 Pet 1-15-16 Be holy in all your conduct.. * It's your conduct that classifies a person holy or or holy. * There are billions of unbelievers who are conducting themselves better than believers. * I know that this statement will make many believers very angry for them to think that unbelievers are holier than they are; good; get angry you might learn something about yourself.. and when you cool down from your anger, look up the meaning of the word holy. 😝 🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔 suprise suprise.. 💬💬💬
