This is the fifth episode of Yugioh Master Duel Masochist: a challenge that forces master duel to be played with the least amount of master packs possible. This is by far the most difficult way to play yugioh master duel. This is like the pokemon nuzlock of yugioh. All credit goes to Cimo for inventing this.

Just wanna add that it says up to 5 on that flame emperor so you can banish 1-5 monsters. I don't think you have the fires for it but that is good to notice. Also Goodwitch is 500 lp book of moon every turn even without the other kosmo mosters
Goodwitch is a book of moon on legs, and Jirai Gumo can function as n attack mode defender (staying in attack position, but never actually attacking, unless absolutely necessary.)
The Barrier Statue felt bad about its poor timing in the Rescue Ace duel and decided to be a hero in that DM duel.
Just wanted to put it out there that you and Cimo's Masochist series made me pick up Master Duel. While I'm not doing the Masochist challenge, it really shows just how fun and accessible the game can be! I've played irl on and off since I was a kid, but this is my first time playing in the modern format (kinda, I played for a short time in 2021 but had a hard time playing consistently bc of lockdown)
Your run at this challenge is so entertaining. It’s like watching Yugi Motto if he had no “grandpa’s shop” and instead was stuck with random bulk. You could use it as a backbone to fuel a whole twitch career & start community social media etc. (Twitter/Discord etc). Would love to see it or be involved with it.
I would be interested in making a discord for fellow masochist to share our progress and maybe playtest but I am personally not a huge fan of social media.
I would be down to hang in a MDM server. Getting to do mini tournaments with likeminded people where we all just do a 10 pack pull and say good luck.
Junk pile Yugioh is probably the most fun way to play yugioh.
Just for future reference with maurading captain. He wouldve won you the duel against the fire deck you faced at the end. If you summoned him and specialed the guy who lost the attack then got changed to defense, you couldve attacked with the captain for that 200 LP you needed to close the game out. In that situation where you're worried about one of your guys getting messed up on a final blow having a free partner could help alot. Only thing that could possibly hurt in that scenario would be Wall Of Disruption. Which ive never seen a single person use in Master Duel

My friend, I do really enjoy your duels, your are quite entertaining as a host, and I am happy to follow your videos. However, you REALLY need to stop for a moment and READ your cards! It is Huge the amount of misplays that could have been prevented in every single video so far if you simply READ the cards you own instead of relying on your memory of what you think the card does.

I think it can be difficult to play & comment simultaniously, especially with unfamliliar cards. Heaven knows I mispilot the loaner decks even when playing by myself. That said your comment is valid. I think spending more time in the deckbuilder and thinking/commenting through scenarios individual new cards might come in handy could help. He is also way to focused on winning/losing instead of making the cards shine imo. Even so, I like the series.
Royal knight of the ice Barrier summons a token to your opponents field, he is completely unusable.
Actually that token would turn off a lot of free special summons like fenrir, and it cant be tributed so theyd have to be on link spider which isnt super common. so legitimately I think its worth considering, the stats being bad is unfortunate though lmao

@@hermit3043 it is not good even for that decks standard you need to tribute summon a 2000 attack monster that will give your opponent a free link material, do you all even play this game, you are better off playing a random vanilla.
@@matija5748 I agree that it's bad, but under ideal conditions it could be very good. Like the other person said, with the dominant deck being Kashtira they might have no way to link off the token if you summon it turn 1. Kashtira requires that they have no monsters on field in order to special summon from hand. The only thing they can normal is Riseheart or planet pathfinder. They can't link it off without wasting resources, assuming they even have something to normal summon.
Kozmo goodwitch can book of moon by itself. You should play it. Also madolche nights doesn't need a madolche to negate a monster effect. Just requires no monsters in graveyard to negate a monster effect so I recommend playing that too
Kozmo goodwitch il literaly a reapeatable book of moon so i think it could be quite good for your deck actualy 👌👌
That last Kozmo pull is an 1800 beater with a book effect. Definitely way better than you gave it credit for--would give it another look.
Something to consider: start a new decklist, and remake a deck. Might as well make different decks. Gives you a fresh perspective, because I think you tend to undersell what you have/get from pulls. There is strong potential, if you start from scratch.
I saw another Masochist gamer making decklists to keep tabs on potential archetypes/decks, so I started doing that, as well as bookmarking anything else that seems interesting. Just nice to know what's in the tank, and whether you have the pieces to make a deck usable.

1:51:00 I now know you are talking about the set card, but you did throw the game by not reading a card just a minute earlier, so I first thought you were talking about that. Just the mental image of "How as I supposed to know" when the awnser is "just read" is hilarious.
As an aside, Kozmo Goodwitch has a slow "Book of moon" effect, so definitely worth playing. And Royal Knight of the Ice Barrier is leagues worse than you think.

Game 2 - that actually was just the structure deck as you buy it lmao. The traps in there mostly require him to have one of the cipher dragons already summoned.

You might want to consider playing good witch. It's an 1800 attack monster that books one of your opponent's cards for 500 life points. Re-read the 2nd effect.

Managed to crack Platinum 5 today with my own masochist challenge. Got a half baked Chaos deck happening after pulling BLE - Envoy of the beginning. It’s been somewhat kind giving me removal (albeit bad removal) cards like Share the Pain, Bad Aim, Treacherous Trap Hole & Exiled force but unfortunately, Plat really is the peak of this challenge. It gets way too sweaty and you really only have half a chance to win maybe 1 out of 10 duels unless you’re up against Self FTK’s.
It seems like once you get to plat in this challenge, you need to play enough that your deck ends up practically being constructed in order to get to diamond.
@hermit3043 Yeah its almost a lost cause. Its a hard grind just to get a master pack and it's losing its fun for me atm. Just pulled Dark Armed Dragon so it really is pulling me into a full blown chaos deck but I just don't have the gas to get proper combos happening to summon DAD or BLE as quick as possible. Going 2nd basically is a necessity and half the time I'll end up against labrynth, Kash, Runick or some deck that's spits out 400 negates on turn 1.
Man I'd kill for Treach and Bad Aim right now, like almost all of my playable backrow are bad MSTs or battle tricks. I did pull a Divine Wrath which is insane if it gets to resolve, but needless to say, one good card doesn't cut it when half of my duels are against constructed meta (in gold btw), 40% are anime/swordsoul decks of varying quality, and 10% fair chance duels or bots. I guess it's supposed to be painful, but I didn't think it would be this bad.
@FakeHeroFang Yeah since I posted my comment, the pulls have been a fair bit more generous. SOMEHOW managed to get 3 Kash Orge and 1 Fenrir. Got the CED to pair with BLS. 3 solemn counter traps and also have pulled 2 void trap holes and a floodgate trap hole. Switched over to running more spells though cause I've got 3 sky striker afterburners.
I have been mildly cheating though, because it got so sweaty in Platinim, I made a rule that any platinum win is worthy of 2 master packs, not 1

I wouldn't be against it but we are all at different parts of our journey. Some masochists are at a much better place than I am some are at a much worst place. I would rather announce my play time and hope to run into people in silver or gold.

6 minutes in and I would recommend going to settings and changing your auto-chain toggle to holding the mouse button instead of switching it with the UI. A lot of people cost themselves games, because they don't know about the different toggle settings.

Royal Knight gives your opponent the token
Battle of the Elements has to come out of the deck because it's too slow, can only be use if all monsters are face-up, useless against mono-attribute decks, and the affect is applied to both players meaning you minus yourself.
I started playing masochist mode on my phone. I used to play a normal dark magician deck and I don't know much about Yu-Gi-Oh. It's being a fun experience.
Madolche nights works with out madolches its a free negate provided you don't have any monsters in your grave i say add it

Doing the challenge myself ( name is 1win=1pack). Currently on gold 5 and stuck with the same meta deck issue. I get the idea of purposely de-ranking to earn more gems, but I still find it asinine to see these decks still in there deep into the current season.

hey LordTrent i am pretty new to watching your stuff. honestly haven't heard of you be4 this series anyways I wish you the best of luck and hope you make it big and blow up big in the entertainment field. I've been playing my own masochist run for a while and have enjoyed it. I'm trying a new run I thought of if you're interested. follows masochist run except you start with a pack each of the normal packs adding master packs to make a full deck then on wins you open master packs but if you open a secret you get to open 1 pack of that secret on the next win instead of a master pack. I call it a rank up run.

Check out the Kozmo Goodwitchs second effect, its a pretty decent normal summon in this type of challenge i think

49:24 this monster is not that bad specially in turn 1 if you go first because you can use it as flood gate for battle since it's the declaration of your monster attack not the opponent monster on you by doing that you insure that no monster above 2200 ATK want to fight you then the next turn you summon another monster with 4 stars to XYZ summon into tp any monster to get over the effect
Btw the lights on the master and legacy pack are not lying to you yellow means guaranteed rare or above and rainbow means guaranteed super or above
You should start building multiple different decks at once! You have so many interesting cards you can start building so many different decks. Even if the decks aren't complete right now it will give you a good idea of the options you have.

I do think you have a better pool than you think, a lot of archetype cards you skip over have relevant combat tricks for Masochist mode. You don't necessarily need to restructure *into* a direction, just embrace the chaos, and squeeze out value.
Stealth bird + Dark Door would be a good combo. It forces your opponent to target it and leaves the rest of your board safe to make moves.

Out of curiosity, I want to ask why even though you have Tengu, the Winged Mayakashi which is a generic level 7 with 2600 attack but you never seem to summon him?
Edit: It seems you just realized at 1:52:37 that you have the card but you had it for quite a while now. I'm more confused now.
He just doesn't come up because I often have to give up a monster with protection just to summon him.

16:10 If you eventually pull Decisive Battle Of Golgonda, which is only R, then you'll be VERY happy to have pulled Sprind. Decisive Battle Of Golgonda protects anything from destruction once a turn, AND Sprind can give you a free summon from deck. You just need any Springans monster
At 1:02:48 you could’ve just used Santa Claws to out the firewall, equipped it with the amazement card to swap its attack and defense then killed it with great angus instead
55:11 He is a Junk monster, so he can target himself to become a Level 4 Tuner (or Level 2). Not something you need right now, but don't dismiss him. You might use him eventually. That level modulation is very helpful for a pile deck like yours.

I think I have an idea about what you should try. Build a nee deck out if your cards with a fresh mind. You can still compare it to your current Version.

I star this Masochist thing to, and every time i see the Mega Hanster i get full of envy. So far i have pulll 2 Melffy catty, 1 wind up Kitty, a Keras and the MVP Alpha the Master of Beast.
Even though armed dragon isn't that good, it's still better than the dark door and light imprisoning mirror
55:10 its a tunner and can target itself if you ever get good synchro cards you should keep this in mind. It can make quite a range of synchro's and be good for xyz's
Zubaba can only summon Dododo or gogogo from GY.... So it can't summon your other copy and you can't use the effect to special summon itself while the other is face up on the field because the card specifically says that you can't. The amount of not reading is painful.

The worst part about you saying summoned skull is preferable to armed dragon lvl 5 is that you pulled a lvl 6 monster with a worthless effect like armed dragon but it did have 2500 atk and you ignored it completely.
I think you should still add Jirai Gumo bc he is still a 2200 defender even if he doesn't attack or just attack with him when you can close the game
Doing the Masochists challenge myself, I feel the one way to not play is to expect your one-of cards to ever come through to any situation, but at the same time, build them to specifically to cater to THAT specific niche situation. lol
It's like all your hands, going first, open going 2nd cards, going 2nd, draw all going 1st cards lol I just stopped expecting and just play the duels, by going second, because unless you draw god hand for your masochist deck, you need the 1 extra card. And the best part, if the opponent go first, if they play a Tier 3+ deck, you just insta-surrender and move to the next duel.
My advice, play ahead of the Opponent, meaning, forcing your Opponent to do things before they get to move on their own. Everyone has a flowchart mindset and when you force their hands, they have to spend resources, Masochists has no resource, so it's honest-to-goodness YGO, while those non-Tiers have a specific route or plays that you now how to fight against.
And I agree, why the hell are these T3 decks are doing so low in the damn rankings?! lol Surrender and give them the rank so they can get the hell out of the Masochist ranks! xD

Heres an idea for you brother. Since this seems to be a long term thing for you, and all of is who are hooked into the plot; I think you should go to the deck editor, create new decks and label them, ex: Warrior Synergies / Dragon Synergies / Etc.
This way you can really visually see what cards you have pulled and monitor the progress of each engines are developing.

On my masochist run i got the most wins by just Stalling . I got some nice Stall cards Like fog Blade , majioshaleon you slow play a bit and they occasionaly just Rage quit 🤣🤣. if you can find something to protect your barrier statue i think you should try to make those duels as Long as possible so Opponent feels uncomfortable .

Tbh I only ever encounter meta decks. I don't play YGO too much so I have gotten de-ranked a lot. I've pretty much only ever encountered non-meta decks in Bronze.
