I've been using the RP3000 chuck for the past 30 years, and The SC4 is a total revelation, it's so so much better in every respect. I 'm still using my old "Coronet No 0 "lathe, ( changed the bearings and belt last month, which, as it turned out was totally unnecessary as the originals were still perfect ) For anyone contemplating a new chuck, go for the SC4 rather than the SC3 which looks very similar, as the 4 is "future proof" having adapter rings for different spindles, whereas with the 3, you buy the one to suit the lathe. My old lathe has the outmoded 3/4 in 16tpi thread, but when I update the lathe, simple matter to buy a new adapter. Of course, on my setup, there was no need for the grub screw and washer, as the lathe doesn't have a reverse. Beautiful bit of kit, sadly though, no longer made in Sheffield I believe.
Thank very much for this video. I’ve just brought this system very very happy with it just brought the Envoy too omg this is a wonderful lathe fairly new to woodturning I would highly recommend this lathe.
Hello, thank you for your comment. Unfortunately, our jaws are not interchangeable with the Axminster alternatives. For further information, please contact our technical support team on 01246 571 020 (and select option 2) or email technical@recordpower.co.uk. Best Wishes, Record Power.
Great video, thanks much! Just bought a record power coronet herald lathe and got it set up.... trying to figure out the insert so I can get this chuck. I don't understand how I'm supposed to know what insert to get? The spindle is 1 1/4" diameter. Please help I would really appreciate it.
Hi Mitch, thank you for your comment. In order for us to state the correct thread size for your machine, please can you confirm where you purchased your machine from? Best Wishes, Record Power.
Hi Jim I have a SC4 and am looking for an adaptor to fit on a Union Graduate, which is 1 1/2" x 6 tpi. I was wondering if you have an idea where I could get one, Thank you for any information 👍👍👍👍
@@SilverBack. Hi Douglas, we're not aware of a supplier that could do this, sorry. The thread size you need would make the wall of the chuck insert too thin and unstable.
@@RecordPowerTV Thank you, it is for a Union Graduate lathe and I wanted to put the SC4 on it, I will have to find a machine shop that can make one with thick walls. Thank you again
Hi Doll - the jaws are manufactured as one piece and then cut into four. Each jaw is numbered so that when they are attached to the chuck in the correct order, they retain their original orientation, ensuring increased accuracy. Hope this helps!

Hi Douglas - I'm afraid we don't stock an insert in that size, sorry.
@@RecordPowerTV would you by chance know of a supplier that would ??

Ps just looking for part two..?
Hello, part 2 will become live this coming Thursday! Best Wishes, Record Power.
Why are the slides numbered? Shouldn’t they all be the same?

@@RecordPowerTV OK - Thank you!
How about a weight on this chuck ?
Hi Jim, thank you for your comment. The SC4 chuck weighs 1.84 kilograms. Hope this is helpful to you. Best Wishes, Record Power.
I like the chuck but hate the wrench. It has worn and does not free the chuck from lathe anymore. I use it flat between the jaws to loosen!
Hi Brian, sorry to hear your wrench has worn down. If you'd like to call us on 01246 571 020, we may be able to arrange a replacement.
