Been playing in D Standard for a long, long time; just sounded right to me, and I think I had heard back then that Lou Reed favored it.Even going down another half step starts to really change the whole instrument, besides creating some technical adjustment needs .I do that, but on guitars chosen for the task .
So cool, a lot of artists do this lower tuning but many don't realize it. I myself found the full step down more comfortable after borrowing the idea from bands like The Gaslight Anthem and Ryan Adams on some live performances.
not that crazy. Most people play 10s and 11s haha plus he tunes down a full step so that helps on the tension side of things. And if you're talking about feedback that can be tampered with on amp settings
@@markferguson3745 10's in E are like 10.5's in Eb, and are like 11's in D. So his 12s feel like 11s. Though, even tougher to fret, disregarding tension being the same, than 11s due to the larger string diameters on the thinner strings.
Mick is everywhere!

That riff at 1:07, damn.
So he tunes down a whole step - D?
yes
Standard D
Mick!
I also have an Epiphone, a hollowbody, but i've been practicing on a classical guitar. I need to pkay the Epiphone, lol
12s?? on a semi hollow? insane

Maybe...but this is fully hollow.
what's insane about that lol
The semi hollow was designed around 12's. In D, the tension is similar, anyway.(to 10's)

Maybe he should try a few curls with his guitar!
