      Ahhh good luck I hope you do really well with admissions! I'm so glad you enjoyed the video and I really hope you found some of the tips helpful :)
      For Rice's essays/application specifically, definitely do your research! There are so many things that make Rice unique. For example, the res co system is really cool, there are one credit hour student-led classes over random topics like Harry Potter and origami, there are SO many study abroad opportunities, etc. Rice also has a Trustee merit scholarship that I received which along with the Rice Investment Grant (more info can be found at financialaid.rice.edu/rice-investment ) is a full ride and absolutely insane - do some research about it but if you're able to show through your application that you're a community leader, entrepreneur, etc. (more info can be found at financialaid.rice.edu/types-aid/merit-scholarships ) then you'll have a good shot at getting it.
      I'm more than happy to help answer any other questions you have, and thank you so much for your support! 💙

    When did you start/finish your common app essay by with this timeline?

    • @MinaRyumae

      Good question! I started on the essay right after school ended, so probably mid may. And it’s hard to say when I finished. I had something I was happy with by the end of June or so (which was nice because I didn’t have to worry about it too much), but then I’d go back and make changes throughout the summer. Even after I applied to all my early schools, I still found things that I wanted to change before submitting to regular decision schools. That’s what’s so nice about starting early - there is plenty of time to keep making changes if you want! I hope that answered your question

      Oh ok that makes sense thank you! Can I ask how you were able to choose which traits to highlight about yourself and what story to use at the start for the essay? I have so many ideas but I’m not sure which is the best to make my application look the greatest.

      @@jennabrual5119 hmm this is a hard question to answer. I’d say one of two things: 1) choose an essay that displays traits which you want to show to admissions. These would be more of traits that would make you a good candidate for a specific school/major. So for example, since I applied as a CS major and several of the schools I applied to are technical, I wanted to show that I am a problem solver and think logically. 2) what are the first couple words that come to mind when you think about yourself and your personality? From there, try to find essay stories that show those traits. Another example for this is that although CS is completely unrelated to art, art is a huge part of what makes me who I am, so I wrote some supplemental essays about art. I hope that helps!

    Great video! Where did you get the supplementary essay prompts for each school?

      Great question and thank you! I mainly used blog.collegevine.com/ and searched for specific schools, but there are many websites with that kind of information. A lot of schools post their supplementals on their websites as well.

    Is it important to have a counsellor teacher for admission?

    • @MinaRyumae
      @MinaRyumae  3 роки тому

      I believe that all applications require a recommendation from a guidance counselor, if that is what you’re asking!

      I’m not exactly sure what your question is. You are still going through the same application process, correct? I don’t see why anything would be different
