The music is so moving. Not your typical war movie. Tragedy when peace is lost and you have to live on. I hope that history is not forgotten. It will repeat itself. ☮️

The piece at the top, during the funeareal kinda scene, when the choral kicks in, I lose it every time. "I think they were saying, 'Why not go Shrink!'" The best anti war movie I've ever scene, and it's one few have ever heard of...
Saw the film when originally released. Always was awestruck by the scores. The film itself was an exemplary cinematic performance. It seemed for a while during the film that the kinship the Nazis developed during Christmas would last. Oddly my most favorite part of the film was towards the end when they were encamped at the bottom of a knoll and had awakened whereas to find on the immediate surface road above there was enemy movement and Kevin Dillon said "Did you see those markings .... that was honest to shit 'SS'" ..... the current score within and that scene to me was dope! Mark Isham is true genius. His OST for the 1988 film "The Beast" is a true achievement of musical brilliance!
country where I am from could have seen civil war 1994, remember Marks Isham well and this soundtrack and BeastOfWar, cleaning the .308 Mauser with scope, at the age of 19, since then I visited the Ardennes 3x, I am 44 now haha!

You really made my night, I’ve been searching for this soundtrack for YEARS. Suite 1 is a masterpiece of emotion, and I think of it often while on the nightshift here in the frontline of this COVID pandemic. So many gone so young.
Regardless, you are correct. Bang up flick. Great book also. They just don't do it like this anymore. You used to get a little excited to see a flick. Now...not so exciting

@@leifadams8511 many Isham albums are not out there. Trouble in Mind, Made in Heaven, a Midnight Clear, Mortal Thoughts, Gingerbread Man and more. Too many less good scores dó exist though. Scores I mentioned are from Mark's prime time! Nowadays scores don't have the magic anymore. Mark stands for trumpet, Prophet 5, rich string arrangements, not the continuous flood of cartoon like music one never will listen to isolated from the movie.
I have watched this movie every Christmas since 1995. Never ger tired of it.

I watched this film at the 1992 London Film Festival and it has always stayed with me. Thanks for the music upload. Such a great score by Mark Isham.
