Thank you very much I spent probably a week trying different ways on how to get the air out I’ve looked up so many videos on it and none of them helped besides this one thank you very much you made my week with this one
Man you saved my ass today. Finished changing the clutch on a Renault Kangoo 2 and lost almost 2 hours trying to bleed it the normal way with no success. Tried this and it worked!! Thanks a bunch. Cheers from Portugal.
I’ve also lost a week on my mk5 golf, I’ll try this, came here before I brought a £40 pressure bleeder
@@morrissongroundworks4920 Quite literally same thing as me. Spent the last 3 hours trying to bleed the clutch on my own MK5 Golf with zero success. Made up my own bottle and had it done in 15 minutes.
I bought a cheap 350ml syringe and clear pipe from Amazon to do this. Worked perfectly. Another tip is that if it’s a completely new master cylinder, half fill it with fluid and give it a few pumps by hand before fitting. There’s always a few bubbles there
Hey mate!
I had air in system in my Civic gen 8. All the 'normal' methods failed, i wasted whole day yesterday on in, and the only outcome was that I put even more air into system by doing it 'normally'. Today i tried your method, but i used a big syringe to push fluid back through bleeder and it worked like magic! Took like 3 minutes, I did it twice to be sure. Thank you very very much!!
Really please with your results. I'll try on my Accord 8. Do you still have to do the pedal down process when back bleeding?
Hi can you do this without depressing the clutch pedal and release fork? Thanks
This is a first rate video aid...
Very well done, great explanation.
The solution worked perfect.
After attending 3 garages to have the clutch re bleed, this method worked perfectly, did the job myself..
good job thank you my husband has a 2017 Passat and there was air in the clutch hyd system i got him a large syringe and he sucked in fresh fluid opened the bleeder nipple put a small bore plastic line on and forced the fluid back up up the resaivor,, he also had a second syringe to suck the over flow coming back up the pipe work from the slave cylinder , it worked grand , im getting reverse gear now much easier , cheers to all car diy folk
Thanks it has taken me a while to get the clutch done doing it the normal way especially that it's a shared reservoir. Tomorrow I'm getting the job done with your method. From Zambia
I got the clutch done by feeding the clutch line in reverse the slave cylinder. Legendary thanks alot bro
Can't thank you enough! Legend! Worked perfectly on my Renualt Trafic after being told by 3 mechanics it would likely need a new clutch!
Mate!! You are brilliant! thankyou for the idea clutch has come back within 10 mins and it cost me less than a tenner!!!
Brilliant!!
Saved me a fortune.
Worked on a Vivaro 2003
I also saw bubbles coming into the bottle.
Hi! I have a question. Should I do this with the pedal pressed?
Thanks for the video. I've been trying to bleed the clutch on my MK8 civic for about a week now through different methods (Gunsons kit, vacuum bleeder, up/down pedal routine) and the most ive got is a little bit of pressure on the pedal... Pedal still goes to the floor though :( Will definitely give this a try!
Hey! I also have mk 8 civic and same problem. Can you give me info if that worked for you ?
Do it mate. I did it on my mk8 honda and it worked like magic. It is easier, cleaner and faster than the other methods.
Did you use any hose that fits? Want to do on my mk8 accord. How would I remove all old fluid first?
Genius idea! Managed to bleed my Astra H clutch today after struggling with the Gunson kit and normal methods.
can you do this when both clutch and brakes share the same reservoir?
Thanks for the video. Should the pedal be pressed in while squeezing the fluid in?
Thats a good idea 💡 , I used to back bleed with an oil can and use a syringe to take the excess fluid out of the reservoir
After changing the clutch on my Focus, I tried bleeding it like you would do with brakes but this didn't work, so i tried your method using a syringe instead of a bottle and hey presto, it worked first time.
Thanks
Hi there, I got air in my focus ...could you tell me how you did yours please pictures of type of syringe used and how with brake fluid full up??
Thanks in advance.
Rob.
@@gooapple9 hi Rob. I purchased a 500ml oil suction syringe from Amazon. Do a search for "EMOTO 500ml Oil Suction Syringe". It costs about £15 although you could probably purchase a 250ml one for cheaper. Fill the syringe with brake fluid. Connect it to the nipple of the clutch slave cylinder and then open the nipple. Then force the brake fluid in through the nipple, slowly but firmly. Usually best done from below the car as well rather than above it. Close the nipple after and try the clutch.
Seriously thank you so much for this. Really saved my ass tonight. Can't believe how well it worked.
Very grateful to you sir,
My Saab viggen had is also a pain to work on sometimes.
Ok, I lied, It is always a pain in the rear to work on.
On the bleeding.
Wow yeah, I was just telling my neighbors...... why would anybody in there right mind try to get air bubbles to go down and out the Nipple. Air rises,, ✅RIGHT ✅!!!
I TOO DID IT THE STUPID WAY EVERYONE ELES HAS TOLD ME TO DO IT.
YOU SIR ARE A THINKER.
earlier today all I could think of is ???
Why don't I push the air up and out of the master.
I wonder if that would finally get my clutch to work again.
Well, well we'll. 5 mins later, I have the best clutch I have ever had folks.
Thank you brotha for giving me the confidence to go for it.
Note I pumped 3/4 or less out of the master just in case before I started.
Just FYI on that last part.
No mess.
No mess at all.
And super dupper easy man.
Thank so much bro
Being a DIYer myself, I like people when they give away hacks just like that. It's not a rocket science to upkeep your vehicle just need patience and skills at hands and some liking towards your 4 wheeled family member. 😊
What do you recommend first to get rid of old fluid before doing this step?
done a clutch on a vectra c today got no pedal at all so i will try this method in the morning thank you :)
Very Well explained, will give it a try on my 2007 Qashqai. Thank you very much. From Maputo/Mozambique
Thank you very much for the clutch bleed trick. It really helped me.
thx for the video, still having a clutch bleeding issue on my toyota matrix, so just wondering how did seal the hose in the dish bottle ??
The master cylinder on the rover 75s inside the car just above the pedal, that's the brake fluid resovoir.
This actualy worked for me after very old fluid started to make my master cylind piston stick. It wouldnt bleed by the pedal so i bad filled the system and it freed the piston and bled the system in one go. Nice vid thankyòu
Thank you for the video! This worked great on my 2007 Ford Focus SE.
Genius! This helped me out so much 👍
My clutch has developed about 2 1/2 inches of freeplay overnight. Would this be the correct procedure to follow to get back firm from the top again?
It might help in the short term, but you should look into what's causing the free play. If it's leaking fluid you need to find out where.
Hmmm maybe that's what I need! My 92 Prelude is driving me bonkers. Zero pedal pressure. Not even a gravity drip at the (brand new) slave. Gonna try this now!
I’ve just seen your video I’ve got to try and get my clutch back on my Volvo when squeezing the washing up bottle do you tilt it up or leave it flat
You're a star ⭐️, thanks 👍🇬🇧
I like the dish soap bottle!
i have a 2003 mini cooper s and i changed the clutch slave cylinder and tried to bleed it the normal way and still have no clutch pressure at all.
will this method work for my car and do i leave the clutch pedal up or down?
That rover has a clutch reservoar unter clutxh pedal
My car's clutch is on the floor at minute after bleeding it with a two man method, made it worse somehow . Gotta try your method later.
Great video, very helpful 👍
God bless you it worked. Finally
Today I found out my brake fluid is leaking (from MAX to MIN in 4 days) and I can see brake fluid running out of slave clutch cylinder.. SO basically I just replace slave clutch cylinder, connect this diy bottle to it and squeeze it in and that way you fill your whole cars braking fluid right? and when it reaches the MAX on reservoir then you stop and tighten the plug and voila...
Some cars have separate reservoirs for clutch and brakes some don't. Fill the reservoir, then use this bleeding method until the you have good pedal feel. You might have fluid spill over the max, in which case clean up the spilled fluid.
@@51North I have the same reservoir so that would be a problem.. Thanks for this nice method of doing it..
I guess you only get one squeeze on the bottle?
One squeeze is better as it hopefully pushes the air out in one go. I wouldn't worry if you end up squeezing a few times

Thanks so much saved me loads of hastle. Top vid 👍
When you talk about the reservoir over flowing your pointing at the brake master cylinder. The clutch master cylinder and reservoir is inside the car, which is probably why bleeding it the normal way wasn’t working as it probably ran out of fluid
@@51North has it been modified then? The clutch hydraulics is a separate system to the brakes and has its own reservoir inside the car up by the pedal.
Must be. I looked on the forums after you said, and you are right a few people have done remote reservoir mods. Can only assume someone has changed the system.
thats a wrong reservoir mate 😅 , this one has one under clutch pedal
😂😂😂😂That's right Rover 75 cdt has his own master cylinder under steering... 👍🍻🍻🍻🙏
I am afraid your looking at the brake master cylinder the clutch cylinder is in the most ridiculous place just above the clutch pedall
This is one of the best DIY videos on youtube!! Thanks so much for the tip. I was pumping and bleeding for so long that I built up a pretty good blister. After finding your video, I grabbed a $1 squirter bottle (like those you find for ketchup at a dinner) and rigged everything together. I had a wild amount of bubbles come out so I decided to take a bit from the master (it was clean and new) and do it one more time. She seems to be solid and ready to go.
I owe you a beer!
