I played this years ago when it came out. The Chowder Man is always what stuck with me the most, trying so desperately to recapture his glory days, even showing signs of that same desperation in the late 80’s/early 90’s. And that chase for rekindled fame killed a friend and cost his leg. His goofy ass was also so damn tragic.
The one that gets me is probably the paralyzed furniture salesman who makes wizard art online to escape from his life and allows him to be someone else, in a place where people can appreciate his personal interests. (Plus, Winter Haven is a "relatively" short drive away. Never been there, but I'm familiar with it because it's in Polk County and I'm a bit of a Sheriff Grady Judd fan.) On that note, I looked up 1007 N Church Ave in Mulberry (the address for the "RR Leather" place that was his first Hypnospace client) and it's a *real address,* though it's an empty lot IRL - but still. That, and the Biker with the memorial page to his wife that's pretty goofy in presentation, but it's still sweet, sincere and you can tell was made as best as his limited skills and resources would allow. There's something very beautiful and very *HUMANIZING* about this game, and I love it for that.
One of my favorite things about this game is that you can skip straight to Day 3 from the very start of the game by accessing Dylan's FLST using a static password. This was something I helped to discover and it actually used to softlock you if you didn't complete Case 1 to unlock Teentopia, though you could quickly do that while waiting to be kicked out. Jay Tholen saw this, thought the skip was really cool and instead just fixed the missing Teentopia flag.

My family didn't have the internet until MUCH later in life, so I *mostly* missed out on this age of the internet, sadly. However, OHHHH MAN, that angelic hamster on the desktop really took me back to being a very small kid and having Sheep on our Win98 desktop, taken from some floppy disk that probably one of my older siblings got from God knows where. And the different audio players also reminded me of using some weird, mostly static 3D "music visualizer" thing while listening to "I'm Blue (Da Ba Dee Da Ba Di)". This is such a strange game, because I think you really had to have lived during a very specific period in life for it to really hit you the way it wants to, and you love it because of how it makes you feel. I can't imagine what a person who's younger than, say, 20 would think about it, except feel like it's a sh!tpost.

Great stream! This is one of my all time favorite games, and whenever I have the time I like to watch streamers i know and don't play this, to see how they go through things, the game being as open ended as it is. It's very interesting how you were one of the only ones I've watched who accurately found out that Zane and Corey were faking their girlfriends by their headset IDs without getting prompted by chat, that you figured out the burger compression format puzzle without, again, prodding by chat or even the note you find about it, and even got to have the 3y3 by November, but you also took the path of least resistance for the True Tranquility people and the FLIST password, and didn't get to go to the M1NX forums, but you still found the r3ckoning files without doing so. Very interesting playthrough!
When you take out Zane's secret site, he does update his main page. In the flashing text talking about his 'secret site' that text block is up dated saying they may have a 'rat' and implies it's Corey.
ngl this was whiplash coming straight from watching the cyber manhunt VOD. In that one Thor was on top of it not letting shit slide, in this one i couldnt believe the amount of stuff he overlooked 🤣
I'm just commenting to mention that the audio/video in this and a few of your other long play videos is a bit lagged. As in the video comes in after the audio. But its weird because it seems that your voice and your face are in sync, the game and the game audio are not. Anyway, love your stream and this game seems cool!
Am I tripping or is the audio really desynced? Like, it plays about half a second before it‘s supposed to? But also only the game audio, Thor himself is completely insync.
It seems like you landed into a bug at 6:37:20 ? Dylan's page of pirated music last time i checked becomes un flaggable and the links to the music won't violate anything after the y2k update. thats at least what happened for others and my playthroughs years back, so maybe they changed it?
The SquisherZ bible thumping page is a priceless parallel to the jesus freak Pokemon scare back when Pokemon was huge when I was little. Back then, the Christian majorities found any excuse to demonize trends. As much societal damage all the counterculture of the early 70's onward caused, I still smirk when I think of how KISS was considered blasphemy, when nowadays it's very tame compared to the degeneracy the 80's and 90's introduced to youth culture.
There is a significant desync in the audio starting about 56% of the way through, and it just gets worse as the video continues. It only effects the game though. At first it was subtle enough to where I thought I was crazy, but then when Twitch chat brought it up it was like 1 second between audio and video. It genuinely stressed me out. I hope you can fix this in the future, because it's almost to the point where it's unwatchable for me. The worst part about this, only 1 comment mentions it aside from me, and it was posted a week ago, which is about 2 months late. Now I'm almost 3 months late. Please take notice of this and try to correct it in the future.
Cool game; By the way, if those reading this haven't played it yet, or just don't know this, scroll down a tad further to see something you might not know. Be aware this is a spoiler although if you fully watched the video, uh, then this isn't spoiling much. Bit further. Bit further still. This should be enough. You can save Zane. See, he's got a few flags on his account, and you can get him banned for like a month or so before the crash, making it where he's not online during Outlaw's beta run that causes the mind-crash. I forget the exact way you get this done, but it is possible. It even changes the ending a bit. Edit: It's his "got game or get lame page. You have to have flagged him before, otherwise he gets a warning, and the chance to save him is on New Years Eve. BurningRubber aka Carl can be saved as well by Gumshoe reports on November 26.

Game is like a fever dream
Great timing for Professor Helper: (2:23:28)
When you take out Zane's secret site, he does update his main page. In the flashing text talking about his 'secret site' that text block is up dated saying they may have a 'rat' and implies it's Corey.
You probably get this alot, but your voice is fucking fantastic ! I love the rich deep tones
First time I heard it I thought "this guy has THE voice for radio."
The Howard Stern of indie gaming.
The benefits of a 2nd puberty
@@SoAaron_I know, i watched a video from 4 years ago like 10 mins ago and holy shit the difference is insane
seepage is literally just linkin park. i love it
ngl this was whiplash coming straight from watching the cyber manhunt VOD. In that one Thor was on top of it not letting shit slide, in this one i couldnt believe the amount of stuff he overlooked 🤣
3:02:58 for that hidden text, couldn't you just use that accessibility program to read the text in the background for you?
I could see the exact second your brain registered the Faith No More parody
I'm just commenting to mention that the audio/video in this and a few of your other long play videos is a bit lagged. As in the video comes in after the audio. But its weird because it seems that your voice and your face are in sync, the game and the game audio are not.
Anyway, love your stream and this game seems cool!
Happy birthday!
The internet used to look like that (somewhat) in the 90s. Brings back memories.
Awesome playthrough, bummer that he didn’t find the Hot Dad Christmas music video though during the playthrough.
"I just got Ovaltined, dude' 😂😂
I really wish I had a moral compass like you growing up. But glad I got you now.
Am I tripping or is the audio really desynced? Like, it plays about half a second before it‘s supposed to? But also only the game audio, Thor himself is completely insync.
"I don't have that kind of money, I've been buying stupid stickers on the Internet!" - Thor
such a whale for 90's Internet
"wouldnt be the first time I've banned my boss"
what a flex
First time i saw HYPII appear, I grabbed him and threw him in the bin because I thought he was a virus XD
The music near the end of the stream about shaving, the musical part before the singing sounds so much like the old UFC intro music.
This game was already tripping me out and then I realized we have the same birthday. Incredibly uncanny.
Hot butter on ice cream actually sounds pretty good
6:23:10 Thor wielded the hammer of InJustice and became a villain.
Such a trippy but fun game! The long plays are super great as background noise! Wonder if there will be an Outer Wilds one 👀
I know you have 1.6m subscribers but I have never seen you before Spiff told me I need to come here and love you. Now, I love you.
I didn't know Thor existed until Simpleflips had a couple shorts involving him, lol. Thor has some good connections.
"(the weird part of youtube) is the only thing I can find that feels like the old internet"
1:02:40
That's painfully true.
After 3 hours “We got Trouble” has gotten creepy.
There's a geocities revival called neocities. It's exactly like this 👌
That voice crack got me tooo when talkin bout the ol internet
I still miss my Bonzi Buddy. The internet was never the same without him lol
Watching this vod gave me beef brain
"that's how you used to do drop shadows" man I'm lazy I still do that on like obs and photoshop
3:19:41 me as a child messing with bios for the first time lmao it’s too real
Not my style of game for gameplay, personally, but this was a blast to watch.
U hav a very 4 ward logic, much respect my man !!!
As a 40 year old, i was old enough to see the rise of angelfire and i had MANY of those websites.
21:20 don't forget about neocities!
Whew! ButtsDisease had me rolling!
You mentioned that you like investigative games, have you seen 2000:1: A Space Felony? If you haven't, you play an investigator on a space station interrogating an AI about the astronauts it's killed
58:32 here-ish, on the councilor’s page, as the guy says “duty”, it puts trump in my perspective of how this guy sounds.
Is he just mimicking the tone of 90’s-ish cool guy explainer?
I think an animation of him lipping the track would help clarify this image.
Crayons exist..
I'm really enjoying this BUTTSBUT so far.
