It makes me so happy to see a new creator talking about learning from your games like this. It's one of the biggest hurdles I see people struggle with time and again when coming into FaB. People focus so much on whether their name has a W or an L next to it, and they stop focusing on trying to grow and improve with each game. I think any advice I would give you already summed up really well. Don't worry about if you won or lost. One game doesn't really matter. Try to look at each game and find where you did well, and where you could improve. Don't be afraid to ask questions. I'm notorious for even mid-armory games just stopping, flipping my hand up, and talking with my opponent about my lines. Improvement in Flesh and Blood is made in small increments. Don't focus on the short term. Just try to get just a little better every day. Focus on that and the wins will come on their own. Excellent video and I can't wait till the next one. Same, I view every game as a puzzle that has a solution. Every hand, every turn cycle is its own new puzzle to solve. With so many branching decision trees, I find that whether you win or lose, you can always find slight misplays or unoptimal play lines to improve upon in the future. FaB isn't always about paying perfectly. It's just about making 1 or 2 less mistakes than your opponent.

The best advice I ever got was how to think of card copies. 3 means you want to see it every game. 2 means you want to see it but not in the same hand together. And 1 means it's something useful, but situational. As for the cards you can run at different pitch values, it comes down to your personal strategy. So if a card's effect enables your strategy no matter the variant, you'd run as many as possible. The difference between 3, 6, or 9 copies for those key cards just boils down to personal preference. It's the perfect way to check yourself in my opinion as you decide not just what should go in your deck, but how much of it.
Not a "pro" player but have won my fair share of armories over the years. My biggest advice for new players would be to evaluate when to block and especially when NOT to block. Making the correct blocks at the right time can make a world of difference over the course of a game especially in CC. Same goes for when to use equipment blocks. Don't just use them to protect your life total but save them for important turns where you need your cards or when there is a scary on hit happening. Also be sure to use battleworn equipment to block before destroying the equipment for its one time effect. Thats usually a 1 or 2 life difference.
Learning Flesh and Blood is a climb, but its also fun and rewarding. One bit of advice I would give to new players is to at least consider what someone is telling you if they try to help you. I know it can be salt inducing to be told what you did wrong by a better player, but most of us established players are trying to help you avoid mistakes we made for months on end
Didn't expect to get jumpscared by my own decklist today but here we are. Awesome video, to add to your point about not chasing the meta in fab, this game more than any other is a specialists TCG, skill expression on a single deck level generates more results than chasing the best deck, so playing your favourite is often a way better tournament strategy than meta chasing.
If I had a time machine I would go back and tell myself. "Don't buy cards, until you have played with them!". When I first started, I decided to just order the first net deck that I heard would be good. This was a mistake, I completely bounced off the play style the deck demanded and put down Fab for a few years. Then when I moved to where I am now, I just picked up some blitz precons played with them and then found my one true love, the big green. Riptide. As I kept playing the deck grew with me. I still don't have all the staples one would expect but the deck is fun to pilot and does well in the local meta. It doesn't dominate but I don't get walked over either. I would also recommend not worrying about actually having all of the hero's pricey Staples for the first while. LLS has been quite nice in providing alternative "little sibling" cards for most big staples that really wont break the bank but provide a similar capability as the big staple card. One thing that was stated in the video is FAB can be quite daunting. This means that the play style of a hero is kinda obtuse to someone new looking into getting into FAB. There is nothing worse than dropping quite a bit of cash on a hero then 2-3 months down the line realising you don't gel with the hero/deck. Now I use Felt table to get my feet wet with a hero, but best to remember you are basically playing in a vacuum. The AI is serviceable but pales in comparison to real human players. Then when I am happy with the deck I bring it to Talashar. Where it gets turbo wreaked. Then I tweak and tweak until the deck starts winning/not losing too badly, then I will start spending some cash on the cards.
100% second Felt Table. The ability to play as most heroes with the precons is super invaluable. Sure, they are not power houses, and don’t always represent the ‘meta’ version of the hero, but they do a great job of building your understanding the hero you may face IRL.
This is a wonderful video! Can't wait to see what's to come, easy decision to sub. I just started, and went to my local FaB event with a precon Azalea deck, and was talked into joining the CC tournament that was happening. So my very first game was round one of the tournament! Three wonderful losses later, I was hooked. To be fair, I have previous TCG experience, so I had an idea of the game might go, but despite having watched a couple how to pay videos, I was very much learning as I went. I'm thankful to all three of my opponents for their patience with my newbiness, as well as the advice they offered. Yeah neat decking is just a tool in your box to find a potential starting point to iterate on because when you're starting out it really helps you get an idea of base ratios.

I would love to hear how you would deal with your opponents when they are trying to make you play certain moves or are being rude. I have found that playing fab as a newbie frustrates my opponents, often. Or that might be because I am a prism player.

Jokes aside that sounds rough though, my opponents are usually very patient and kind even when I’m being quite slow 😢 they should be understanding given that it’s such a challenging game to learn! New players are so valuable to the community, you’d think people would be nicer (Prism players being no exception). I haven’t dealt with this so I don’t have too much advice to give other than quietly talk to the store owners or judges if you feel uncomfortable. If you ever come to Auckland to play you will be more than welcome to take as much time as you like and ask all the questions in the world!!! 💕💕

More excellent content Liv !!!! I have lost way more games than i have won. One thing i see alot of newer players do is "tilt". When things aren't going well or you get unlucky alot of players tend to get disheartened and in some cases give up. If your new to the game the best way to learn is to stick at it. I have seen many matches won when at one point it looked almost hopeless.

im 42 and a casual flesh and blood player. Id like to get better at the game but I work full time and dont have a lot of time to spend getting to know every single card on every single combination how best to do this besides net decking?
I think net decking is a great place to start, but also finding a hero that suits how you naturally want to play. I started on Chane, then moved to Briar and found little success. One day I picked up a Bravo deck and 6 months of real grinding later found myself sitting at US nats. A word of caution though, if you find a hero that you truly fit Living Legend is going to make you very sad one day.
Great video and tips! As a newer FaB player I can agree with everything said. A note about netdecks though, some heroes (In my case Prism) don't actually have a high level of build variety due to the nature of their cards/gameplan. To keep on the Prism example, due to original Prism being LL, she only has one real weapon to use and trying to go the aura route just ends up being a worse Enigma, additionally the want to use light cards and the soul mechanic further hinders what cards you can actually fit in the deck. So personally I'd argue netdecking someone like Prism will make your journey easier, even if she is a tougher hero to learn the game with. A small note about the video in general - Not sure why, but the music in the intro section was quite loud compared to your speaking voice, and during the whole video there is a slight static noise present. Not sure if it's an issue with some sound gate settings or just mic sensitivity.
The advice I would give to new players is to gradually work on getting better at evaluating your cards. You can think of it in terms of levels: Level 1 is just producing the best combination of all four cards in your hand. You don't even consider blocking. Level 2 is producing the best combination of attacking and blocking over the turn cycle, e.g. blocking with two cards on your opponent's turn and then sending a 2 card 7 attack on your turn. Level 3 is thinking about the current turn cycle and ahead to subsequent turns and how to best use your arsenal to set up powerful combos. Level 4 is doing all of the above while also considering your pitch stack and ensuring that you are pitching cards together that will produce good hands in the second cycle. Great video, by the way!
As a new player myself, I highly appreciate content like this. It actually really puts into perspective things and, and in my case, figure out if you've been taking the wrong approach from the beggining. I haven't even figure out what hero I like, and was already thinking about buying the expensive cards. Really appreciate your content! Ps. Not gonna lie. Had to rewind the video a couple of times, especially at the beginning, as i kept getting distracted by the kitty lmao.

For me I found out how important it was to play other decks. My local meta has for years had a lot of really good Kano players, and it was a match I never bothered to learn how it actually worked because Kano from the outside just looks so impenetrably complicated. But I borrowed a deck for an armoury, played it, learnt how it worked, what I should be blocking, why I should be blocking it, and why when Kano did this thing, it meant that thing, and it made me so much more confident into playing against wizards. You also can analyze things like "This deck loves blocking, why does it love it so much and would my decks learn anything from doing it too?" Great vid though! Very excited to see where the channel goes!
Yes... I thought I was an assassin-only girl until I tried Zen, and I realised, "Hey, aggro is cool as hell!!!!" And the lessons about blocking - SO much easier if you've played the deck you're vsing at least once. Love this tip so much 💕
The point about not just copying a deck but finding a style or combination is soo good and underrated from what me having the vibe. maybe not the jam for pro or super highly competitive players but everyone else can have looooots of fun I bet they'd otherwise would just not have by "just" copying a deck. ✌️

Netdexking is like borrowing a recipe. Theres nothing wrong with using a recipe. But sometimes you may enjoy the results more if you deviate and add in your own spice
I'm personally a big netdecker. My Top 4 Battle Hardened and Top 8 Calling were very close to netdecks from a personal acquaintance of mine. I think being good at using Netdecks is a skill in and of itself. Often it's about being able to stare at the full 80 and just understand why it was assembled the way it is. I'm currently netdecking an Enigma list and had a 40-0 on my 2nd time ever playing that hero/deck (that might just be skewed MU spread, but what I'm saying is piloting a deck semi-blind is a skill for sure)
not net-decking means you have no idea what you are doing... use the shared knowledge, copy tested ideas and use decks from tournaments as much as you can, this has been around since the web and is one of the reasons why we have tournaments... netdecking changed MtG, enabled communities and made it at all possible to have (successful) TCGs, there isn't a single TCG out there where you don't have tons of ways to share decks and it's for a reason (; Learning to make good plays with a bad deck will teach you to be a bad player - just learn the tournament decks
I think netdecking definitely has some value, but all the downsides mentioned in the video are very real. Netdecking in FAB is only smart to do once the meta is very established and "solved". Otherwise, your sideboard and even mainboard could be unfavorable into the field at large. I don't think I understand what you mean by your last take. I would consider most limited (draft, sealed) decks to be "bad," but playing limited at a high level doesn't make you a bad player lol. Learning how you can get the most value and make the best plays in a suboptimal deck is one of the best skills you can develop.
@@averymyles1707 playing a sub optimal deck teaches you bad plays as you are not operating with cards that provide options or ask questions, example would be ES vs whatever pitch 1 card - deal some dmg card. Mech's mill 2 cards - get 2 resources armor vs whatever block 2 or get some resources 1 time equipment, i believe you get the point (; Limited has a whole another aspect to it - drafting.... so another ball-game (; Points seem valid if you like making excuses and are totally invalid if you are the only one you blame for your experience :D Net-decking is ONLY beneficial and by a LOT, it's one of the pillars of why we have TCGs being what they are - just remember what it was back in 1995 and you'll understand my point

Theres nothing wrong with using a recipe. But sometimes you may enjoy the results more if you deviate and add in your own spice

I'm personally a big netdecker. My Top 4 Battle Hardened and Top 8 Calling were very close to netdecks from a personal acquaintance of mine. I think being good at using Netdecks is a skill in and of itself. Often it's about being able to stare at the full 80 and just understand why it was assembled the way it is.
I'm currently netdecking an Enigma list and had a 40-0 on my 2nd time ever playing that hero/deck (that might just be skewed MU spread, but what I'm saying is piloting a deck semi-blind is a skill for sure)

not net-decking means you have no idea what you are doing... use the shared knowledge, copy tested ideas and use decks from tournaments as much as you can, this has been around since the web and is one of the reasons why we have tournaments... netdecking changed MtG, enabled communities and made it at all possible to have (successful) TCGs, there isn't a single TCG out there where you don't have tons of ways to share decks and it's for a reason (;
Learning to make good plays with a bad deck will teach you to be a bad player - just learn the tournament decks
I think netdecking definitely has some value, but all the downsides mentioned in the video are very real.
Netdecking in FAB is only smart to do once the meta is very established and "solved". Otherwise, your sideboard and even mainboard could be unfavorable into the field at large.
I don't think I understand what you mean by your last take. I would consider most limited (draft, sealed) decks to be "bad," but playing limited at a high level doesn't make you a bad player lol. Learning how you can get the most value and make the best plays in a suboptimal deck is one of the best skills you can develop.

playing a sub optimal deck teaches you bad plays as you are not operating with cards that provide options or ask questions, example would be ES vs whatever pitch 1 card - deal some dmg card.
Mech's mill 2 cards - get 2 resources armor vs whatever block 2 or get some resources 1 time equipment, i believe you get the point (;
Limited has a whole another aspect to it - drafting.... so another ball-game (;
Points seem valid if you like making excuses and are totally invalid if you are the only one you blame for your experience :D Net-decking is ONLY beneficial and by a LOT, it's one of the pillars of why we have TCGs being what they are - just remember what it was back in 1995 and you'll understand my point

The only part of your paragraph I understood was the first part, and I disagree with it. Having 1 use equipment rather than repeatable affects can be WAAAYYYY more skill intensive. Look at scowling fleshbag for example! That has a way higher learning curve than grasp of the arknight.
