As a gen Z, this is why I love watching JK. They're "aware" instead of being annoyingly "woke". They have respect for different social groups but still aren't afraid of cracking jokes here and there, even if it's dark. Because everyone knows they're only joking.
I love watching people who don't have to continuously give disclaimers because they're afraid of getting cancelled.

The problem nowadays is just as Joe explained it: This new generation is so caught up in cancel-culture that they don't grasp the entire history of the issues they are supposedly "trying" to resolve. Instead of making any progress, they are essentially spinning their tires and leaving skid-marks expecting a shiny gold star for contributing to cancel-culture.

I saw a dumb discourse about how the term pansexual is transphobic. The older (millennials and older) ones in the lgbt space were like dafuk.

I'll speak as a black person I think the thing most people don't get about cultural appropriation is that
1)some parts of other people's cultures are purely sacred and if you are not a part of that culture it is the highest disrespect to engage in it.
    2) some people love engaging in other people's culture while disrespecting and hitting the people whose cultures they participate in.
    3) a lot of people fetishize other people's culture.
Personally for me if you're engaging in a culture that is not your own and you are not doing any of the three I don't have a problem with it go ahead have fun.

Of course you can't just pretend to be a buddhist monk all of a sudden but I'll say enjoy any culture you want. One of the coolest things I've seen is the Maori haka and I'm Scandinavian. If I try to learn it am I appreciating or appropriating? Some people can't differentiate cultural appropriation from cultural appreciation.

In a lot of cases, the words that are currently considered to be impolite actually used to be the polite, preferred terms. For those who don't like the current set of polite terms, there's a solution that you yourself can put into practice today: start using the polite terms the way you'd normally use the impolite terms.

I don't understand the logic behind, "this race made this, so they have rights over all production or use of this". For sure you can't be disrespectful, but the only people who find this disrespectful like wearing Mexican Panchos are other races (not mexicans). It's, for example, white americans getting offended for hispanics and it's weird. Certain cultures find that it's sort of embracing if you wear what their culture wheres, but for some reason other people want to think it's an insult to the culture. It's usually obvious when someone does something disrespectful with disrespectful intentions.

In Cantonese “ni go” means “this”. I work in a Cuban Chinese restaurant and I’ve been asked why I said the N-word and I just explain have to explain it’s meaning in my own language. It’s hard to say, “this” order is for “this” person and getting misunderstood. But I notice no one asked me about it’s meaning for a long time because cultural diversity and understanding. Back in 2005 almost got into a fight just because I said “this order is for “this”person. 😅

If we could not share our culture to anyone else, we would not have access to any of these amazing foods or shows! Next time you want to claim culture appropriation, when it’s not right to do so, think of all the great things we have obtained because other cultures decided to appreciate yours.

Actual cultural appropriation is wrong, like white people “discovering” something that minorities have been using for thousands of years and acting like they just invented it, but I feel like now, 99% of things that people are labeling as cultural appropriation is not cultural appropriation at all. And there’s also like those really extreme people who are shame you for not being ___ enough. I’ve seen a few TikToks of Chinese Americans, for example, speaking Chinese and people are bashing their pronunciation and it’s like??? Are we gatekeeping Chinese Americans from speaking Chinese? How are we supposed to get better if we can’t practice?

I'd like to flip Joe's Intention & Context on it's head.
The overarching context for most people nowadays, is that you can Google "is this offensive?" in the same amount of time to say it. Additionally, enough people have made honest mistakes that you can learn how to graciously apologize for using an offensive term.
If you deem it unworthy of the aforementioned effort, then you likely meant to cause offense anyway.

You guys are missing major points. It’s not just blacks don’t want Asians to do hip hop, it’s the fact that when blacks enter Asian countries they’re treated like shit. It’s the fact that the being gay in many/most counties is a death sentence. You cannot take the context of the community out. That’s why communities get upset. Taking the rhythm but not the blues. Which is why getting upset that people are upset is not helpful.

That thing is not exclusive to only one race. Even Asians are treated differently in all countries. What is your point? Weird thing is even Asians will treat or judge another Asian depending on where they come from.

Having 1 girl in a group of boys makes everyone cooler. Having more than 2 girls in a group of 8, suddenly becomes a girl's night out.
