  • Memories of Bridlington and a post war childhood in Yorkshire England.
Motoring in the 1950’s and the charismatic Bond Minicar - the working man’s sports car.
Bridlington Tour- while reflecting on days gone by and the way things were in the West Riding of Yorkshire - where there was full employment in the woollen mills enabling people to own old cars if they worked 60hrs a week - and then drive them to early 1950’s Bridlington.
Old valve radio tuned to Italy on Short Wave in 1953 contrasted with flying to Naples in 2.5hrs recently.
The often unseen and forgotten wheelchair access to premises in the UK, one of the many life enhancing changes that’s sometimes only noticed after visiting elsewhere.
Remembering the Coastal Command Shackleton aircraft flying on it’s dawn patrol, with it’s Rolls Royce Merlin Engines.
Bridlington seemed safer then. 40mph RAF rescue launched were based in the harbour at Bridlington and the streets were much safer.
Hope you enjoy this video of me reflecting on how things were in those days. Would I want to return to those days? No thanks! No way!
I’m gripping the iPhone firmly lol
