I was 12 in 1958 and for my teenage years this was THE song for every party I went to in Philadelphia. If I had a dollar for every time I heard it, I would be a millionaire. It just never gets old! And I love this version!
Me too. I just looked it up. Keep it a secret. Lol. I had the 45. I just had a big birthday. I’m still listening. My twin 18 year old grandchildren are listening to doo wop. I am ordering earl Lewis greatest hits and his book. I think I’m going backwards.
This is just my opinion but I think that we will never ever see talent of this caliber never ever again. This is a beautiful thing man! The pitch, the harmony and that bass WOW!!! Thank God for the recordings. Today's artists are just as good 🙄 NOT!!! What a sad world we live in today. Worse yet is that today's modern singers think's that they are that good. Friends if you had a rough tough day, I have a remedy for you. When you get home fix yourself your favorite beverage put on some oldies or old school music, sit back in your favorite chair, relax your mind and enjoy the journey back to those yesteryear when music was music. How I miss those days. Suddenly I feel depressed. I'm going to need a double and a beer chaser, maybe more.
Warms my heart & soul along with a few tears trickling too. My beautiful cousin loved singing this classic, & we loved supplying the background. Rest In Peace,Love & Song Lillian❤️
Schrooms73, Thanks for the post, it's truly incredible. Lerory King was in my Health class in HHS. I saw the group harmonize in the boys john!!! A memorable lifetime event for me. Keep goin Richie!!!
Oh My God, thank so very much for this upload. No words will do justice to this song and the memories it leaves us with. Just thanks Doo Wop rules, RIP Alan Freed 1010 WINS NY.
Wonderful song and group, and Cathy Cornelius is about as good a one could wish and hope for, and love dancing The Strand at the ongoing dances hosted by Jerry Blavat in the Philly and South Jersey area.
one of the songs I sang over and over and over thank you for letting me see you bless you immensely thank you we love you I could tell Richie was one of the orginal very disappointed sad of others but greatful for what we do have still we us
Schrooms73, you have the best collection of doowop videos I have ever had the pleasure of viewing. Thankyou for sharing all these precious memories for all the fans of this Great Music
people are going to hate...I thought she did an excellent job singing "So Young" It was if the ORIGINAL Singers were still in the building!! I love it!!
THE GUY IN THE PINK SUIT IS ORIGINAL MEMBER RICHIE JOHNSON THE GROUP USUALLY GO UNDER THE NAME OF RICHIE JOHNSON AND THE STUDENTS THE FEMALE SINGER IS CATHY CORNELIUS.
Yup, Schrooms73 is da BOMB! And Cathy Cornelius rocks the lead! I've only heard one other female lead voice do justice to this Students classic: Maureen Gray.
Schroom73, Per the Students... the lady's name was Kathy Cornelious (sp.). She had to leave the group for personal reasons. What a tragedy, what a voice!
So excited Richie and the Students will be back at Memories Supper Club in Harrison, Oh. I love Richie and he is truly an entertainer !!! He will be there Aug 4th- with his horn section ! tickets are on sale now. Come join us
Of course Kathy Cornelius isn't "Leroy King", but Leroy has been dead for so many years that it's indeed, very hard to find someone, man or woman, who could capture the essence of the lead vocals on this superb standard oldie ... and Kathy Cornelius has done just that! Uploader Schrooms73 has done it again ... kudos to him/her!
Hey Emil Saw this when I was not signed and loved it ( I love the live ones) I just learned how to make them. I do not have a camera and do not go to concerts any longer But keep up the great work I love it
Hi Schrooms73 ! ... I am a great lover of Doo-Wop Music I never had heard of group The Students! this group is not the originals But sounds Great I love that Bass...
Cathy Cornelius - Lead Vocalist Cathy grew up singing in church and early on developed a sound reminiscent of the great female soul singers such as ARETHA FRANKLIN. Having sung for numerous Cincinnati groups, including DYNAMIC SOUL, PRIVATE PARTY, RICHIE AND THE STUDENTS, and MUSIC UNLIMITED, Cathy caught the attention of local promoters and and was soon backing up local performances by THE PLATTERS, THE CHIFFONS, SAM MOORE, THE CONTOURS, FRANKIE FORD, LITTLE ANTHONY, and THE DUBS.
What a wonderful voice. She sends shivers up my backbone and causes my knees to tremble. Have I gone to heaven ? I am kneeling to thank God for this performance!
Well...please give it a listen before condemning it. Brian Wilson singing falsetto with the other guys doing harmony is, in my opinion, very good. Maybe others here have heard their version, and would like to comment.
Awesome! don't forget, you who give negative comments this is live you twits! put her in a studio to record, this would be even greater ! Da! for you gargoyles...great job baby!
Wow! I was going to say that I thought the original singer was a male, who sounded like Frankie Lymon, but I see that a previous poster said that the original singer was a male, but that he has passed on. This lady does an outstanding job! Her name may be Kathy Cornelius, but it does sound like the announcer says "Kathy Sinclair" at the end of the song.
God rest all the original Students souls, this group keeps their memory alive. Doo Wop forever
Richard Johnson, Dorsey Porter, and Ralph Byrd are still alive

Love this song and Kathy Cornelius has a wonderful voice. She still lives in Cinti and sings for family & friends. Love you Kathy....your Sis
She is GREAT !!! What a voice !! Wish this group was still active . I would love to see and hear them.
If you like this version, listen to the ACTUAL band The Students from the late 50s This group was using their name decades after the group disbanded
@@kelliseta8986 The man in the red suit is original bass Richard Johnson

The original singer Leroy King’s vocals would make you weep! He was 15 when The Students recorded it in 1958
