Here is my honest review of the Avada WordPress theme
As always I was not paid to make this video. I personally do like the development of the Avada theme and all my opinions in this video are meant to be constructive.

I'm glad to see it's not just me. I bought Avada several years ago and could never quite get it to do what I wanted, and ended up never using it. Thank you for the review and the clarification.
I agree in most of the things you've said. But there are some cases when I still think is one oh the best options.
When you need to imitate or replicate an existing website or paper design.
For some reason you can get very very close using all the avada options without the need of css etc. With Divi and elementor You always hit a wall with a small detail and you need a workaround.
Great review!
It's a single use license, which might explain why it has that Install / purchase ratio. Many creators worry Avada will remotely disable websites if usage exceeds the license. Though I have it installed on 3 old sites and no emails from avada just yet ;)
Really? Because I've been thinking to change it for elementor pro 3 licences
Thanks for watching all! Do you use avada? Feel free to let me know in the comments!
There are definitely old and new Elements and design Options in Avada. The decisions regarding how to support legacy workflows is always a challenge. (Microsoft gets criticized for keeping too much legacy code and Apple gets criticized for abandoning too much.) They do tend to retire or demote older features over time -- usually when they are refactoring the overall codebase.
The Avada Slider is definitely basic, but Avada comes with both Slider Revolution and LayerSlider. I like that there is a simpler option as well.
The Setup Wizard is brand new. I expect it will keep tweaked like other major new features have.
Regarding the Builder -- I like the idea of colour-coded Containers, Columns and Elements. That's an easy change that would indeed make it easier to keep track of where you are. Moving columns and elements in the builder can definitely be finicky in my experience. You do learn tricks that make it a bit easier, but that's not much help to new users. With each update, the Avada team continues to add padding and margin controls to more and more of it's legacy builder elements.
The way you feel about Avada is a bit like how I feel about Divi and Elementor -- not because I think Avada is better, but because I know my way around Avada better. I think Avada is especially a good deal for someone building a site or two given it's lifetime licence (versus annual fee).
These theme reviews is one my favourite series in playlist. It’s a must have on your library for future references and it helps to narrow down or cut the hype behind every theme that are recommended by others. Here I can find the exact truth and the taste of every users how they feel with before I decide to go all in with the theme or avoid.
I’ve used Avada for many years and it’s definitely improved over the past several years but there is a huge learning curve, but once you get it down it makes building sites a breeze. My frustration is they keep increasing the price and they have no license options for Web Developers or Agencies so it can get expensive in the long run.
Do you have to buy the theme for each website you build or is it a one off purchase which you can use for lots of website builds?
@@MrLockie7 it requires a license for each site you plan to use it on.
Do you find Avada to be slow or bad for seo?
Like how much do you charge (average) for a small site?
Wish I had seen your video 3 weeks ago before I chose Avada 😞 Been spending the past 3 weeks of my life, 10-14 hours a day building a shop. And yes you are absolutely correct in your review. I wouldn't recommend it either. A webshop shouldn't take 3 weeks!!! to set up, it should be done in less than a week. Avada is just waaay too clunky and counter-intuitive. Your review was 100% on the spot!
I loved it before but after all the changes they made they basically made it like a maze, I don't like that much. I think it's so frustrating and if you need to add one more page or change something, it takes longer than it should. Which theme would you rank number one, flatsome or elementor?
I like that is very fast against other builders. So many options, but since I am a developer and I wanted a builder to create quick sites (for applications, custom server functions I would program from scratch) all these options helps to customize almost everything. I'm still testing it.
Comparison with Divi helped me understand your review. I would not be using Avada if it were not for a client who uses it.
Nice theme, Darrel. Thanks for always choosing to present the best products.
does it work properly with MotoPress (hotel booking plugin to be precise)?
Very very helpful, thank you for the honest review! Refreshing in a time of everyone being ignorantly positive about everything.
Glad it was helpful!
I am new to developing so forgive the noob question. Can I use Elementor and AVADA to edit the same page or is it a one or the other option?
i would ONLY use 1 builder, two builders is a bad idea and you will get code conflict
@@darrelwilson Thank you!
12 min, woo quick one. Thanks Darrel!Love to know Avada, people in China ask me a lot about it.
Why Avada is Love 💯💖
Different Languages Support
Own Builder with Layouts
Great inbuilt template
inbuilt forms, slider
Great optimization options
and much more
how involved would it to change the Avada Theme to Divi on our website?
Which one is your recommendation, Avada vs Jnews
in addition to that, this theme doesn't build pages with loading speed in mind. it's too slow.
Hello, I am thinking about to purchase Avada, but I am not sure if it can be used for WCFM multivendor marketplace, could you please advise? Thank you

Hey Darrel, Could you kindly do a tutorial on a ticket sales website, I really want to get into that space and the tutorials I have been seeing are not sufficient
This is currently on my list of things to do, I’ll take a look at this
@@darrelwilson What do you recommend as a good, intuitive, easy and cost effective WP Theme Page Builder? I see you mentioned Divi, Breeze, Elementor
Are there other good ones?
and which picks top spot according to the metrics I am inquiring about?
Good one, bro 🙂

You should just finish this video recommending back to use the demo themes after all 😅
There´s a big white bug floating in your room ;-)
Hahaha. 😅😂🤣
200k sales and 600k websites. Doesn't that mean that Flatsome is being heavily pirated?
Hey William, that could be part of it. But also many users might use it on other various websites even though they have one license. But the argument that I’m making is that many users prefer to use it and recommend it or even use it on other websites because they like the product. Whereas with the Avada theme it has more sales than active installs
@@darrelwilson But you can only use an Envato licence on one site -- otherwise it's not a legitimate use. So, roughly 400,000 Flatsome sites are not properly registered. (The complicated issue of open-source licenses aside.) Of course, there would be still be Avada un-registered use. I just wonder about the ratios.
I have a bunch of Avada licences/purchases -- more than I am currently using because it goes on sale from time-to-time and I use it with new clients.
Obviously, there is a difference between the Avada ratio and the Flatsome ratio. However, Avada implemented a system that makes piracy much harder now. That led to a surge in new purchases. Both Themes have been around for about the same amount of time . So, that's not a difference, but Flatsome has much more recently moved up the sales charts. I THINK that would mean that Avada has many more older purchases and there is a turnover over time as businesses seek folks like me to update their sites.
Please understand, I am not even disagreeing with your conclusion. I just think the issue is multi-factored.
@@WilliamPitcher Piracy? I am afraid the "complicated issue of open-source licenses aside" comment was rather misleading. It is not complicated at all. They are all GPL open source. The only thing me, you or any other developer can protect under GPL is our brand names, product names, trademarks and logos. Fortunately there is some good news, generally people understand that "official" websites are safer to download from and install on clients websites. They also understand there is good value in having on going support for a product. Just to confirm, I am aware that certain theme marketplaces attempt to add another licence on to the GPL licence. I will let you work out by re-reading that sentence over a couple of times if you think that itself is lawful or not.
@@darrelwilson you used to be able to use Avada on more than one site they recently changed where if you don’t have a purchased license you can’t use it. I like the theme but being new to all of this it gets frustrating . They should offer more prebuilt themes , it’s been a slow process to get the newer ones they have now. Thanks for this review.
I had to used it about 2 years ago because my boss at the time gave his innept recommendation to the company to use AVADA. Thank God He is not my boss anymore, I am not in a company with innept bosses that recommend AVADA.
The builder looks like WP Bakery builder
its their own builder actually
Nice video!
avada theme is good but page builder is not a good elementor.
yeah its alright, i wouldnt use it however
you forgot how heavy it is...
Hey , if you need help feel free to drop your questions in the comments .
I use avada and it’s bloated and slow. I’m looking to change
hey , Take a look at my top 10 WordPress themes: ua-cam.com/video/MNPKrTu6_dQ/v-deo.htmlsi=EKoW3W1tix7Isv_G
Very bad theme, as if you u r building a website on 2010 or earlier
Genuine question -- what feature / capability / workflow do you feel Avada is missing?
@@WilliamPitcher What's missing? Here you go: multi-step form / poor image hover animations / poor studio library / poor tabs edit possibility / poor possibilities for mobile menu design / only few css animations / see on themeforest "Elegent Elements for Fusion Builder and Avada" - almost 3k users bought a tool to improve Avada's limitation. The idea of Avada is good but still needs to improve A LOT.
@@marcinkodowy6787 any theme you would recommend?
Avada support is not interesting at all and this is an old theme. Say hello to the world of DIVI and ELEMENTOR.
Elementor is very old
Thanks for clear reviews ..
