That Turbo has already been changed recently hence your bolts came undone easy.,,,well done all the same

Interesting that you didn’t jack up the car, it rather went in from the front… where did you find the torque specifications for refitting the exhaust manifold? In my SAAB Haynes book it only says “according to specifications”, but I have no idea where to find these…
Great job, I guess I will go in from the front too.

Hi there! I didn't actually torque the nuts up on the manifold as I don't know the figures. I just tightened them with a normal ratchet, you can usually tell when you've tightened them enough, of course if you have torque wrench then do it the correct way and torque them. Yes on these Astra's you can just go straight in from the front as long as you remove radiator and intercooler etc... 👍

Fair play, Very useful video. Not sure if my Meriva B 1.7 needs a new turbo and or a DPF, and good to actually see the DPF and turbo even though its a different engine. Thanks

@@FS-VR drove perfectly, then went into limp mode, but drives quite normally when maf unplugged. Computer suggested dpf blocked. Engine good no smoke etc, but found oil on fan and pipes below intercooler pipe, couldn't find any splits

@@jonfoxx9745 If it drives better with the MAF unplugged then it may point towards that. I didn't think the Meriva 1.7 CDTI had a DPF, what reg is it?

@@FS-VR I have replaced the maf just in case still the same. Yes it's a 2011 with DPF.

@@jonfoxx9745 If the computer reader suggested a blocked DPF then take it for a blast down a motorway in high revs, should get it nice and hot!

Really cool video, too bad it's inverted, gets a bit more difficult to follow steps

It pretty amazing how bad those engines sound even if you all the maintenance it still sounds like trash I have 2 cars with with those engines one with the z19dt that has 8 valves and the other one z19dth that has 16 and both sound like shit 😂

Buying second hand turbo is very fucked up thing!
I have been driving this car since 2009!
The same OPC line in Germany!
The exhaust has ability to bent up itself I mean the surface where turbo hits the engine head!
The sound looks like blowing whistle especially during winter!
You must change feeding line with the new one not cleaning!

Very true but this worked just fine, the car still runs great today 👍

@@FS-VR When you removed the turbo i saw that tha gasket was in very good condition!
Thats mean that the compressor has been removed very soon the reason you know why?!

    • @FS-VR

@@ivanparakosov1202 The gasket had too much silicone sealant round it and some even blocked the pipe up a bit! The turbo has previously been taken off around a year ago but wasn't my work. I fit a brand new gasket and cleaned the feed pipe as best as possible.

The radiator has a bleed port on the bottom Lol. If my mechanic would do that mess inside my car I would've put it to work and clean off every cm of it. Seriously.
