Bill Watts was known as being pretty tough but Erik is exaggerating here for sure, he was never the strongest guy in the world lol. And he was scared to fight Scott Steiner so he threatened him with a pistol.

I mean, Bill, in his book, claims to have snatched a guy's eyeball during a fight and swallowed it! Lol. I think the apple didn't fall too far from the tree.

I watched a very small elderly woman run up and stab Bill Watts in the back with a small penknife in the early 70s in Sarasota. He reacted instinctively, turned and grabbed her wrist and threw her up against the wall outside the heel's locker room. There was a near riot after she was taken away in an ambulance. My father was the promoter, and since I happened to be on my way to the concession stand, I saw the whole thing, I gave a deposition over the phone to the District Attorney. I was probably 12 at the time. He asked me several times if Watts was looking at the woman when he threw her. I said no. There were no charges pressed and I never heard of any follow up lawsuit. This particular woman had a record of similar incidents.
I don't know if this is the incident he's referring to or not and if some of the details have gotten changed over the years.
In any case, Watts couldn't have made his hair any shorter and he had no beard at the time.

Anyone whose actually been in real fights will tell you the same thing. Your best self defense is your feet. You don’t know if that guy is ready to meet the lord, has 10 buddies waiting or is armed. I've heard it from a few wrestlers in shoots but I can't recall from whom. I think it's more most of who we hear in these shoots are from the 80s and 90s. If there were more interviews from Bill's era you might get more of his name mentioned. You could be right. Just an alternate theory.
