This is the biggest controversy still active in Rock Climbing and I don't know what to believe. Said Belhaj claims to have sent Action Direct, but many notable climbers like Daniel Woods think he needs footage. Where is Mike?

And do it using only one foot. Her other foot was starting a business

When Alex Honnold was free soloing el cap, i was a doing the same a few minutes behind him. Sadly i didn't appear on any footage.

No alex personally edited them out. I was downclimbing it after finishing the free solo and had to pass them.

I know the guy he's talking about. Don't know where he came from. Haven't seen him since. But I was repeatedly failing my first ever V15. Just pounding my head against the rock and this shortish man skedaddled out from a set of shrubs. Freckled, badly sunburnt with a pretty obvious fake mustache and wig, and introduced himself "The name's Mitb....Mike". He strapped on, kept repeating "You can do this." over and over, gave me a Rungne chalk bag for some reason, and sent me up that rock like I had gained squirrel powers.

mike is just the name of a spirit that takes the form of a belayer. when you climb with mike you can climb anything but part of the deal is that no one can ever know. mike belays people purely for the beauty of climbing and is probably haunting Said for breaking the agreement.

Hi from Czechia :-) Great video. BTW we used to be Czechoslovakia, but we split in 1993. Then we were the Czech Republic for a while, and now a few years ago someone thought that the Czechia would be better because it's shorter :-) But now everyone confuses us with Chechnya 😀
The only people confusing czechia with chechnya are uneducated americans (especially because the names are only so similar in english) so i think you people will be able to live with that :D

@CartoType Bohemia is only part of Czechia. There is also Moravia and Silesia. So we can't use this one for the whole country 🙂

As a Czech, when people say "Czechoslovakian", I personally do not take offence. But I do think they're ignorant. Czechoslovakia dissolved over 30 years ago, it's not that unreasonable to expect educated westernes to notice. You never cared to find out what country Adam Ondra was born in?

The weird part you left out was that Mike was actually also filming that day and DID reach out to Patagonia. Crazy thing is while he was pulling out the footage the video got corrupted, thankfully though there was another Czech Myke filming that whole tech catastrophe. Now we narrowed the problem down to finding this Myke person.
Back in the day there was a controversy of a climber from the UK named Richard Simpson climbing Action Direct. Also a very fascinating story.
I just looked him up after reading this, apparently he also claimed to have run a sub 4 minute mile lol
@@ClimbingStuff It gets crazier: He also claimed to be an undefeated boxer and to score extremely high on a Cambridge University entrance exam. If you search "Richard Simpson Obsession" you'll find a 2009 Vimeo video with him campusing 1-5-9 and climbing 8B+ at the school room -- so he likely had the physical ability to do the route at least.

I remember sending action, It was an accident, I thought I was on Feiste Fauste just to the right. I did get it on film, but my iPhone fell in the water on the way out, and my belayer died of chlamydia before he could tell the story (i told him to leave her alone) So who wants to sponsor me? The bolt route at kilnsey, Adam ondra looked at & walked away with no comment, the trad route at thorn crag I checked out with a very very on form, very very talented grit guy years back & we did the same. So the technically hardest bolted, trad & boulder problems in the UK are all fake. It's a huge embarrassment that nobody talks about really 😂
Hi - Im the czech guy who filmed him send action directe, unfortunately my camera was struck by lightning and caught fire to the footage was destroyed but I can assure you that its true that I filmed him in the post office with an envelope labelled action and he paid the full amount to Mike the post-office worker who was told by his wife to get off Instagram to send the envelope with FedEx directly to its destination... We even went bouldering with him afterwards but had to ditch him after he sprained his ancle trying the start of a VB at the gym.

I climbed Everest last week in my "Boxers" Had to do it inn four hours as it was bloody cold !!

just an aside why its not called czechoslovakia anymore: its because the country split into 2 countries, Czechia and Slovakia. But on the scale of offensiveness the only people offended would be the local nationalists but not regular people, those would just find it funny that people arround the world still think we are together over 31 years after we split and especially so when its people that never actually lived in the time when we were 1 country

Send- ascend a rock climbing route in an unbroken fashion, without falling and being caught by your belayer. If you fall and are caught on belay but still make it to the top, you’re making it to the top “bolt to bolt”

I flashed a free solo attempt on Freerider using only my index fingers. Halfway up the climb, just before the boulder problem, I actually cut off my left index finger in honor of Tommy Caldwell and continued up the route with only my Right index finger. Unfortunately, the only person filming this was a bald eagle that I had strapped a GoPro onto, and it flew off... so.. y'know...
