Warcraft 1 still looks good. It blew my mind when I first plugged that shareware disk into my below-spec 386 and played it at 10fps lol. I had no idea they remastered it.
@@debostahn it's 12-limit, so even a little better but still... They have SC2 code, so imagine SC2 pathfinding and group selection limit in both Warcraft games. They could do that, the code is already done and ready to be port there. They could also add rally points, units recruitment queue, better AI with few difficulties, remastered cutscenes, unique sprites for heroes, remastered sounds and music, improved map editor with mods support, ladder, online multiplayer for Warcraft 1 up to 8 players... that list goes on and on... my god, they are one of the biggest gamedev company in the world! We should expect high quality. And what we got? Almost nothing... 12-limit selection like in 1998 (SC1) and move-attack for Warcraft 1 that doesn't work correctly. They also removed multiplayer from Warcraft 1 for some reason. I would be happy if that was some fanmade and released for free. But no, Blizzard ask money for a work that could be done in a month by a single developer. In fact one fan added rally points to Warcraft 2 all by himself and that's something that huge company is unable to do? That's just sad how they disrespect their first games. I know that people that worked on both Warcrafts left this awful company, but it's still sad. Warcraft 1 and 2 created their great reputation back then. After these games everyone believed that if game was made by Blizzard that has to be a great game.
I miss the roads mechanic from WC1. It made base building feel more deliberate.
